Surprised by Death Grip, since Mind Vision was nerfed because Ben Brode didn't like the idea of physically stealing someone's card for yourself.
But in any case, I really like this card.
They've said in interviews that this expansion they're allowing themselves to do more "un-fun" effects as a way to emphasize the evil of the Death Knights.
A decent card, neutral ironbark with a card draw per turn based upside, probably somewhere between 3-4 stars out of 5. The taunt really pulls it up since it makes it tolerable against aggro as well.
Of all the past cards that have come out and been called "Dr. 6" or "Dr. whatever," implying that they'll be an auto-include in tons of decks, I feel like this one really might deserve the "Dr. 8" nickname, because it's pretty solid all around, and will probably see play in a wide variety of decks.
I'm sure it has been pointed out that his taunt it a double-edged sword: you won't be able to hide him behind a taunt minion to keep the cards flowing, but that's fine: an 8/8 taunt for 8 mana that draws you a card would be good, and he's going to get you more than one card in many cases, which should sway some games in your favor.
Great job, Blizzard, making the Lich King feel really awesome without (at first glance) appearing to be totally broken.
Something I find funny in a twisted sorta way is that Skulking Geist is considered more "Meta-Defining" than The Lich King himself. Arthas Menethil, Lord of the Scourge is being upstaged by some random undead jailbird who hates Chinese architecture.
They did a good job of making him cool and powerful and adding the Death Knight cards lets the people who wanted a Death Knight class have their Death Knight "class fantasy" a little bit too, in any classes' decks.

Ah, okay. That makes sense. Thanks for letting me know.
If yasera had taunt it'll probably be worth 9 mana. Lich kings stats are a little easier to deal with than yasera but it costs 1 less mana, the cards are generally 2 mana over powered and the taunt makes it good. An 8/8 taunt body is worth at least 6 mana so you're getting your money's worth on just the first card and if it sticks around one turn it's really good.
This is without doubt a very cool card, the only problem I have with it, its the unpredictability.. for both sides actually. Cards are so different and they are so many.. difference between getting Frostmourne/ Army of the dead and Death coil for example is huuuge value-wise.
For pro-players this is another big RNG effect that can simply decide game..
Also if it really got on Dr. Boom's level, it would add Death Knight into all decks, such as BGH used to be in Dr,7's era.And then its just.. did you draw him or not?:)
I think he is as close as we are gonna get to a card that was as ubiquitous as Dr. Boom. Every control deck will run, no questions asked hands down. Slow midrange decks will run him no questions asked hands down. He will show up in decks where he has no real synergy, like dragon priest. He won't show up in aggro as a general rule (neither did Boom) however. The death knight cards are so god damn swingy and powerful, with them being attached to a large body that immediately effects the board is pretty huge.
Early midrange and certain combo decks may not run him, others might. Like I can't see him being something you will run in Exodia, but I can easily see him in apocalypse paladin (combo paladin). Like I ask myself, would I run him in Evolve Shaman? I don't know honestly but I would consider it and that is saying something.
Certainly a pretty good card, but I'd also say it probably is overrated. It will see play in control decks, but I don't expect it to be played in "literally every deck" as people say. Compareable to Primordial Drake.
The new Ragnaros
Yeah, I think I'll run this in Control Warrior.
Fat body: Check.
Taunt: Check.
Card advantage: Check.
Dr 8! all decks will tech for this for sure.

I always wonder how long people have played this game when they vote. "meta-defining" lmao

Big game hunter is back?
Every theory deckbuild update right now - "edit: added the lich king".

Ironbark Protector, the powercreep is real…
