who plays novice engineer or 1/1 craeture for 2mana lol.
Tempo gain from mirror entity or freeziing trap is huge. Can carry whole game to the end. It's basically 2cards in one.
These are some of my favorite mindgames to play. Let's look at Liquid Hearth's top 6 decks. Here's how they all play around Entity :
Patron - Ghoul, Taskmaster, Gnomish
Handlock - Chow, Ancient Watcher, either Taunt giver guy, Healbot
Malygos - Chow, Owl, healbot
Mid Hunter - Abusive, Leper Gnome, Houndmaster
Oil Rogue - Deckhand, Thalnos, SI Agent, Earthen Ring
Zoo - Abusive, Egg, Argus, Voidwalker, Owl
The same goes with Freezing Trap. I love using that to get two battlecries off of guys. It's important to get guys down you want to battlecry again first so you can attack into it with them. That's not always possible I grant you, but it happens a fair amount, which is why the majority aren't agreeing with you
I can see him being nerfed. Any long time CCG player will tell you there is inherent power in any sort of 'Tutor' card. He gains huge tempo in mage who have the most powerful (and most expensive) secrets. He also does wonders for hunters as it allows them to have the value of secrets without having to slow their early game to spend mana on it while thinning their deck as well. If you run 2 secrets, he's an auto-include.
However, almost any form of nerf makes him unplayable. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is possibly making him a 1/2 so he doesn't trade so well. Or we could avoid any nerf by blizzard releasing more cards that add viable silences to the early game.
Just for clarity - I don't jump on the nerf wagon with any regularity. That being said, certain cards do appear relatively (and consistently) overpowered compared to other cards. Consistency is important here (which is why I don't class unstable portal as OP), as this is what leads to successful decks.
I would place the scientist in the OP category. The argument that he only features in certain decks is a poor one, particularly given that secrets are limited to 3 classes. The only reason not to include him in a deck with secrets is because you want to control when the secret is played, otherwise he's almost always better than drawing the secret itself. The tempo he creates in the early stages of a game makes many of the current decks viable (face and mid range hunter in particular).
Even if he were changed to a 2/1 or a 1/2 I think he would still see plenty of action in the same decks he currently occupies - who doesn't want a card which pulls out a specific card from your deck and plays it for you in one!
I main druid and when the mage gets a Mirror Entity or a hunter gets a Freezing Trap off of him I instantly concede because whatever creature I play, I won't be able to make up for the tempo loss (druid is simply that: a class that exploits a tempo gain early on)
I can see that, the mage traps are especially strong against Druid since you don't really run little guys.
I would much rather see early alternatives to deal the secret, or the consequence of the secret. Like someone whose battlecry was to randomly shuffle a secret back into opponent's deck. Or, a better Scarlet Crusader that hurts and silences deathrattle guys.
If you're going to nerf it making it a 1/2 would be better. Stops mages from dropping and pinging it for a clutch secret they need. It also deals with the issue that it just trades so well early game. The point of the scientist is you want him to die. Sometimes the best way to screw up someone's early game is to not kill him.
I kinda get what he is saying. Looking at the top 6 on Liquid Hearth/Tempo Storm, the best classes are Warrior, Warlock, Hunter, and Rogue.
Mage is falling out of favor a little, it seems but a few weeks ago I could see Mage in the top tier classes conversation. One of Mage's and Hunter's strengths is that you have different flavors of deck, which makes it harder to mulligan against. Mage has the most flavors of any class, IMO.
Kezan Mystic is not really an answer, since it have bad stats on it's own, and hearthstone don't have sideboards.
Kezan Mystic is a strong answer, because if you get an enemy secret its like playing a minion with stats for three mana, destroy ing the enemy secret and drawing and playing the enemy secret afterwards. This gives you about three cards advantage, which is just insane. That is why it is bad in any matchups without secrets to make it only viable in a very specific meta. If it was buffed to yeti stats every non aggro deck would play two, just because it wins you the game against mage and hunter. Compare the card to harrison jones. He has weak stats, but if your enemy has a weapon, it is like destroying the enemy weapon, drawing a card and playing minion for 5 mana.
I still think that mad scientist should be nerfed, because there is no bad outcome apart from kezan mystic: If you silence him, it is still good, because the silence was wasted on a two mana minion and cannot be used for a flamewaker or hunter. Mad scientist is also for example far stronger than cards like Kirin Tor Mage, because he also draws you the secret and doesnt force you to have it in your hand. The people, who argue that you cannot choose the secret or when the Scientist is triggered, dont understand Mage or Hunter decks: they only play one secret in most cases and they always want these secrets to be active, since for example explosive trap or mirror entity always do sth. The card gives, therefore, tempo AND card advantage, which is to strong to be in the game.

''With great power comes great electricity bill.''
I'm not sure if it needs a nerf or not, but if I was to make a 'watch list' of cards that I would be considering nerfing then Mad Scientist would definitely be quite near the top on it.
The problem with trying to balance it is that Mage, Hunter and Paladin secrets all cost a different amount. Make it balanced for Hunter and it is overpowered for Mage and underpowered for Paladin.
Too much value. Having to play around 0 mana secret is pretty tough and creates even more room for hunter/mage. to rush your face. Kezan stats are very bad for her cost so she's unwarranted to be played until ladder is at least 60% mage+hunter.
It can easily be compared with Loot Hoarder .. MS has 1 health more than Loot Hoarder + plays the drawn card instantly for 0 mana. So: yes, it is way stronger than a lot of other cards but this doesn't mean that it has to be nerfed.. The game needs very strong cards too.

Who can take your trash out? Stomp it down for you? Shake the plastic bag and do the twisty thingy, too?

Why can't we silence enemy hero to remove secrets? :(

I believe that it should be nerfed as it creates too much of a tempo advantage.
Maybe a 3 mana 2/2? or 4 mana 2/3?

Need to be removed from this game
Make it 2/1 or 1/1. Fixed.
Hearthpwn Community's Balancing of Cards.
before they even look at MS there would be like 5 cards waiting in line to be nerfed.so no.
true or 3 mana !!
kezan mystic is not bad but shredder takes it place for eternity.
and kezzan is pretty uselles against non secret classes.

I wouldn't mind if they made it 2/1.
Wouldn't change it much for me.
