Glacial Shard is better in most situations. This is only good if there is only one enemy minion on the board, or if you are using a spell combo deck (e.g. Flamewaker, Antonidas).
Glacial shard sees almost no play and it's already better than this random mage spell. Shows how OP frostbolt is.
I feel this card is solid in arena. Direct damage usually is, even if it's random. In constructed, I don't think it's solid enough. Reliability > Unreliable RNG. I won't vote bad because getting this card as a random spell from Babbling Book isn't the worst thing in the world, it just won't make the cut as one of your 30 cards.
Voting Playable with the caveat that it was generated into your hand rather than included into your deck.
It reminds me of Flamecannon. Even though Flamecannon was a meta call and good against early threats like the deathrattle from Nerubian Egg or a 4 health minion from Animal Companion.
I agree, as a generated spell in a deck with many generated spells and freezing effects, why not. But at the same time Mage DK benefits of Elementals. Flame Geyser and Glacial Shard both contest that spot in a deck as well - and provide synergy.
This might see play. Arcane blast was run pretty extensively throughout mage and it did the same damage for the cost. This also freezes so that will probably counter the random effect. Good early game clear, and decent late game effect activator for antonidas or to maybe get a 3 health minion in range of the DK hero power
if an aggressive mage deck turns up this actually sounds pretty good. can act as a tempo-clear in the early game or to freeze a big minion in the mid-/late-game
I guess there are a lot of people who don't understand how good freeze is.
Or how many decks out there only play one minion at a time.

Love this card... 1 mana 2 damage and freeze... it plays early, mid, and late game!
Frost Shock sucks, this card is worse and in a class that has way better spell to begin with.
Seems like a really good card to me. Much tempo.

It's shite, freezing is a tactical decision, random makes it worthless unless there's only 1 minion on the board.
I agree it's not strong enough to be run in your deck but it will be good to get off of glyph or tome. Excellent token spell.

Seems pretty weak by itself... maybe it can see play with frozen synergy.

Surprised people think this is good, the fact that it says random enemy minion makes it completely useless imo
people are complaining about it being random, but it being random helps against stealth or cannot be targeted minions.
You know what would be way better with Shatter than this card? Freezing Potion.

1 mana spells are usually solid, and this works well with Janna DK.
