This is basically Annoy-O-Tron for 1 mana. Crazy strong card.
This is basically not even close to being the same thing. Annoy-O-Tron protects your 1-drops and allows you to snowball the board on turn 3 (also wasn't ever and wouldn't ever be run in Paladin). This is more like a regular Argent Squire (also, in the early game, 1 health vs 2 health is a HUGE difference). With the buffs that Paladin runs, when is the last time you ignored a turn 1 Argent Squire?
IMO this is a mild inconvenience at best. It will probably see play in some new midrange paladin deck (obviously not Murloc Paladin).
Another thing I like about the card is that it combats the stupid (insert random 1 cost pirate) + IM IN CHARGE NOW turn 1 play from pirate warriors because with divine shield it needs to be hit twice for it to die. Taunt is such an underestimated ability, never underestimate the value of a minion being able to protect your face from getting caved in.
It is a kind of a stonehill defender nerf, but it is still an annoying 1 drop taunt that need to be hit twice to kill it, I have seen videos on trolden where an annoy o tron managed to hold off two deathwings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNBJFEoAJvo

Not to mention protecting your other minions... And it's just sick with redemption (as anyone who's played annoyotron knows). Having to deal with a 1 cost minion 4 times is expensive in either hero powers, time or cards. This will be good in any paladin deck, but a handbuff deck may also be pretty good. They are obviously pushing one with the new paladin cards. 5 lifesteal cards (including a charge one), 9 playable divine shield cards (including bolivar who becomes pretty sick buffed), more draw cards (the 2/2 for 3), All it really needs to be a sick deck is a minion based way to recover on the board..
Definitely one of the sleeper cards in KFT that no one sees yet. People just seem to not understand that strong early game minion can be what a deck needs to be new meta breaker. No one saw Patches until it came out and still some people don't understand how powerful low mana cost cards can be.

Who are you refering to lel.
I agree Defender might be a similar annoying card like Shielded Minibot. I think taunt on that card makes it even stronger. Still, I think Annoyotron with 2 health is a big difference, not only for the mech tag. Ping plus a 1/1 trade still wasn't enough. In a spam-like deck i can imagine it even bringing Knife Juggler back in the meta. At the same time shaman is able to clear Defender pretty quickly.
You can't complain about power creep with neutral cards and class cards. Class cards are always supposed to be about 1 mana better, usually with strange abilities and good statlines. If this was a 1 mana Annoy-a-tron then it would be straight-up power creep. Better examples are Pit Fighter and Ethereal Peddler, same stats but Peddler also has a cool ability. Taunt is barely worth a mana anyway.
This card is actually more of a nerf to Paladins using Stonehill Defender because those higher cost Paladin taunt cards are probably better than this card is, although this is better to actually put in your deck, while Stonehill might give you Grimestreet Protector and you might realize two divine shields and a 6/6 Taunt is just what you needed.
It is much better than Annoy-o-Tron. First of all, it is huge difference in mana for only 1 life missed, and it is divine shield minion, so it is not that important. Also, Annoy-o-Tron was used for it's synergy and anti-aggro protection. Defender will be used as both and also will skyrocket aggro paladin. Taunt on divine shield is crazy good, Paladin has hell of buffs, it protects other shit, crazy synergy with everything, et cetera. If any aggro paladin is good next expansion this card will be core card for such decks.
Yep. Argent squire is already decent, this will likely push it over the edge. The best aggro deck tends to be the one that is best versus other aggro decks, and I think this card can achieve that.
Kaladin's RoS Set Review
Join me at Out of Cards!
Hugely overrated, its only reason is nerfing Stonehill Defender. I hope paladin gets another crappy taunt.
Great one drop, I just don't know if it'll push Bolvar into competitive play though. Nah, Bolvar is just crap sadly.

RIP Argent Squire was my first thought too
POWER CREEP!!!
I love this card, it exemplifies what's best about the paladin class, really solid, not flashy cards that get the job done.
I really feel like this card was made pretty much to support the new Bolvar
Murlocs FTW!!!!
"But I'm a (power) creep... I'm a
weirdowinner... why the hell am I playing this?"Apologies to Radio Head.

Aggrodin.
My magic will tear you apart!
Such lazy design. Maybe a 0/1, or 0/2 with taunt and shield would make more sense.
