This card is very good, but not Meta Defining! Thank God they released this ard after they showed us the Trash Priest Legendary.
For those who are saying, your opponent will Trade the minion on which we spent 6 mana, well good luck trading into an empty board. We are talking about priest here. Priest will trade the little(about 2) minions he have and cast this spell. game Over. Corruption was bad because Warlock cannot afford to take damage. this is good, because you can cast this on Deathwing without having to worry about your Health.
No one's putting this in their deck as a direct deathwing counter... Plus even priest cares about 12 damage to their face.
I would 100% rather just have shadow word death and win from value and not take the damage.
The best arguement is that it's a worse webwrap that nets you a minion next turn. But it's worse since that minion sticks for a turn, can be traded or silenced and you don't get to benefit from BC or when it hits the board.
And with so many taunt minions and board clears coming in KotFT odds are good your not even going to collect since so silence could become a staple. It's already normal to expect one silence in lost midrange/control decks.
Even available now: hex, evolve, silence, corrupt, or any other hard removal makes this basically waste 6 mana and most of a turn. Not very good or meta defining. Unless you can make your opponent use 6+ mana or 2+ cards to respond to it you lose the tempo/value game.
Not sure why this card is named "Embrace Darkness" - shouldn't it be "Embrace the Light" since you are joining the Priest side (which is associated with light)?
Would be much cooler if a card named "Embrace Darkness" actually changed all your Hero Power and Priest cards to Warlock HP/cards, given that it is the opposite of Renounce Darkness...
Well it's a card that requires a specific board state to be efficient.
Sure, if you drop it on a minion that your opponent could kill during his turn, it's bad, but why would you do it then ?
You would drop it on something that your opponent can't kill during his turn, unless he use some of his cards like his own removals or silences, and in an expansion where deathrattle seems to be part of the theme, you want to keep your silence for other things.
If Priest get, somehow, access to freeze, it could also be an interesting tool.
Not as strong as Entomb sure, it's a very niche card that may perhaps never see the light of constructed play but it has some potential.
6 mana is far too much to counter only a few cards like Tirion. I rather spend 3 mana on SW:D and let them have their weapon than waste a whole turn just for a chance to get a damaged tirion.
This card is not good at all and won't see play in constructed. So far 2 bad Priest cards today. I'm really disappointed :(
very nice card. yes, it reminds a bit of corruption, in that you leave an enemy minion on the board for one turn. but for five mana more, you also kinda "summon" a minion. so if you play this on anything bigger than a five-drop, it becomes better value than corruption. sure there are some counters, silence would be a particularly bad one, but a lot of counters are spells, that can only target an enemy minion, so your opponent has to wait till you get control of the minion. also, compared to mind control, this can be played on turn six, it leaves four mana to work with for any kind of combo on turn ten, and theres a higher chance of having the minion on your board on your next turn with full mana, even if the minion can't yet attack (but you could potentially play two faceless manipulators... hello triple ysera ;) )
i think the card has a lot of potential, but we will see.

I think it's playable, borderline good. It's a control anti-control card. Also it's obviously lategame card. Forcing a trade opponent might want not to do is a plus as well.
P.S. People saying it's similar to Corruption and thus bad, never had their 1/3 OP one-drop corrupted it seems.
Very slow card not something i would play in a deck but another card i can get from Lyra then im not going to complain i mean i can think of worse cards to get from Lyra thats for sure but it terms of actually putting in it a deck not for me, Lyra going to get abit more extra value with this expansion but this card even by priest standards is abit too slow to actually put into your deck but if you get one from Lyra you're not going to be too mad about it even more so if you can get it discounted, I vote bad for putting in a deck playable if you get it from Lyra.
If they do shit to kill their own minion, they have to play suboptimally. If they dont kill their own minion, they're fucking screwed.
No, it's worse. Entomb can save your life by removing the minion with the biggest power when you are low on life. Here, they just go into your face with the minion because you won't even have a next turn.
Entomb guarantees you the minion and his Battlecry, Embrace Darkness guarantees nothing. In the best case you get an already damaged minion, in the worst case they kill the minion you want to get by killing your own best minion.
People compare to Entomb but for me this card more like Sylvanas Windrunner spells version When you play Syl you know only can get value on next turn (unless you cast SW:D,PO,Feign Death...) and this card is same, give opp a chance to play around but now you can choose target Of course Syl is x5 better because she have body and force opp trade with her but my point here this card isnt really slow, just too situational to see play so i vote playable
Weirdly slow card. What do you want to steal with it? Maybe hit a Deathwing because opponents don't have a hand after Deathwing, and you take 12 - but boi, that can't be a viable tactic. You can't seriously try to target a let's say Ysera when they just bounce it back in hand with a generated spell of hers. Or Silence effects like other mentioned here. Shaman just Evolves and keeps going.
What could be an excellent target is a Spikeridged Steed'ed minion that has Lifesteal. It is annoying to remove, so just take it yourself and the opponent needs to deal with it. It could also heal you back up because you spent 6 mana doing nothing for a turn.
Niche cards don't have to be bad cards. But this doesn't seem to be a staple card at all. Smaller minions can be stolen way easier.

Glad I'm not the only one who sees this. Almost my exact thoughts. It's too niche to be consistent and against most opponents by T6 if I'm behind d on board I'd rather just have a Dragonfire potion then die the next turn from doing technically nothing.
Mark my words that in constructed this card will just be a dead card in your hand more often then not or be played sub optimally just trying to survive. It is not a swing card or conveniently playable, only under strict and rare circumstances will it help to actually win games.
"They'll just trade the minion!"
You're a priest. You don't have high attack minions to trade into.
Also, do none of you people remember entomb? Tirion was always the optimal target, and it still is here.

I think this is Entomb 2.0 that could be counted by silent.

After reading card's name, I expected some sort of Shadowform syngergy.
I'm mildly disappointed.
The card is decent though, it seems like a more fair Entomb.

Slow and greedy, 2 things priest does not need more of.
Honestly, I would run Mind Control over this...
Excellent. A card that forces Paladin players to silence their own Tirion Fordring can't be that bad right?
I am Mal'Ganis! I am a TURTLE!!
Why are people comparing it to Entomb?
Isn't it like a cheaper Mind Control with a down side?
