the difference between cleef and this One here Is, cleef comes out with 8/8 Turn 2 ...
You're absolutely correct. Any card with over 5 attack is crap.
/sarcasm
The difference between cleef and mother Is the fact, that you See mother coming and you will have time to save your removal. Problem with cleef Is you Dont Know if your Opponent hast cleef in his Hand and you dont know when its coming and ofc cleef can hit you like a Truck Turn 2-3 while the mother need more time to grow
But still great card & autoinclude in every discard lock
Cool card, since it can be run in a Zoo deck that doesn't even play the quest that may just have to drop a 2/2, or in a control Warlock that plays the quest and go for 2-3 buffs to get it out of AoE range. Also not super excited if "Warlocks discard their cards" is their only real direction, but there seem to be multiple ways to play it: aggressive, control, possibly in the middle. Which is better than the diversity from the last expansion, when before the nerfs the only "diversity" was 3-4 flexible cards in a Renolock.
This is the first expansion I've heard people whine about 'forced archetype' so much, is it because it's on the bingo card and everyone suddenly knows what it means?
Blizzard literally always pushes certain types of decks, it is a 100% necessary aspect of the game because it gives classes identity. Ramp Druid is a consistently pushed archetype but nobody bitches about that because it's an integral part of Druid and has been for a long time. Just because DiscoLock is a relatively new thing (though Locks have ALWAYS had discard cards) doesn't somehow make it any more forced than the twenty billion 'forced archetype' cards we've had before.
Because it was so forced in gadgetzan and really restricted the deck building aspect due to forced and self built decks, not to mention now for every quest deck you would want to play.. it's 1,600 dust entry fee..
This definitely enables the discard quest quite a bit, now there are 3 cards that make the quest not nearly impossible. when running the quest and not mulliganing it you will almost always mulligan for this or 1 of the malchezars imp's they basically serve the same purpose, when you discard "draw a card" so you don't lose card advantage. As for whether that's enough, I'm not sure, but now at least there is a pretty decent chance of drawing 1 of the 3 cards you need in the first few turns, especially if you're tapping.
Unpopular opinion : cause you cant control discarded cards in hs, this card will be too slow to play correctly. Might see play but dont get your hopes up.
2 4/4 at worst and can get even bigger, i love discolock but forcing the play style with both legendaries is not adding to the amount of ways to play. I like it, but i wanted something else.
Ok I'm just gonna go ahead and say, Silverware Golem is better than this card by a longshot, because you summon it for free. That's how bad I think this card is.

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
What would you replace with Zavas in this deck ? A Dark Peddler maybe ? Assuming Malchezaar isn't going anywhere.
I'll have five free spots (2x Peddler, 2x PO, 1x Tiny Knight) once rotation hits, so depending what else gets revealed it would fit in with the Lakkari cards...or not ^^
Discard handlock will never be a thing because handlock wants Cardenas in its hand to get cheap mountain giants and high health twighlight drakes and discard gets rid of more cards from your hand than you play, so they don't work together
This is one of those cards that looks bomb on the surface, but I don't think enough people will intentionally craft it to try and figure out the best discolock deck.

Would love to toy around with this one. Insane combo potential but it forces discard to be only deck playable in. I think that blizzard likes setting themes for each class and not giving more options when deck building viability-wise

Bolvar problem. Odds are this expansion is gonna be just as bad as TGT.

Join me at Out of Cards!
Could be trash.
Could be dr 2.
I'm leaning more towards the latter.
Fuck cubelock

I'm enjoying a lot this new discard lock

Jan'alai the Dragonhawk
Holy Shit. Discard Lock Edwin Van Cleef. RUN FOR COVER.
Remember playing Control Shaman with Reincarnate shenanigans? No? It was fun, here's a refresher!
I'd have preferred a sort of "evil" elemental, or maybe the tar tyrant for warlock.
Them having a silithid looks just... unfitting.
