You're right, let's just completely eliminate planned synergies and hope everything "just works". I wish the mod's had never introduced the concept of "forced synergy" so we wouldn't have all these misplaced salty comments.

But it is forced. Warlock will be discard zoo and that's it for the next expansion.
Black rock mountain was a very good example of a great expansion.
Nothing was forced. The community came up with Patron warrior the best and most skillful deck of all time.
Vanilla cards are good. Nobody forced deck ideas on us, still Miracle Rogue, Control Warrior, Freeze Mage were born.
A great expansion would be when we can play more then one type of deck per class not just one that blizzard have told us we can. In Gadgetzan, we have Reno Lock, Jade Druid, Pirate Warrior, Reno Mage, Murloc Paladin, these classes cannot play anything but those decks if you don't wanna be a rank 25 roleplayer who plays offmeta garbage.
Depending on the rest of the set, this could turn into a tunnel trogg + overload type synergy. Something that's supposed to be a downside is usable as an upside.
low investment, high reward, crazy synergy with a potentially powerful deck...at least it's only a one-of, but ya, this will be nuts. You could just put this in a typical zoo deck right now and it would probably be very good.
Amazing card! One of the best from the set so far great synergy and really powerful late game or game card......removal aside this will cause your opponent some major problems......beast tag is a little weird but ehhhh whatever
discardlock gonna be expensive with with both legendaries.
If you haven't realized already the idea is all classes will have a legendary quest and minion that synergise and optimally be played together. This will make all decks more expensive and a way for Blizzard to make lots more money.

Or a good way to drive away a big chunk of your player base and put the nail in their own coffin. My guess is quests will be given for free, as C'thun was in Old Gods.

Sounds like the attitude of a rank 25 roleplayer as there are far more decks than those for each class that can do just fine. This community is full of Salty Dogs who never try anything new and then whine about it and perpetuate it by playing all the T1 and T2 decks. Just commit to playing non-meta decks and you'll find that it's very possible to do well.
Blizz added taunt minions and taunt synergy to warrior in MSoG. They added token synergy to druid. They added secret synergy to mage. They added handbuffs to paladins (whether you like it or not). They didn't tell you to play any of those T1/T2 decks. You decided on your own to do it regardless of all the interesting new cards that were put out. Water Rogue is T1. Do I care at all? No. I play my own version of Thief Rogue and my own version of Pirate Aggro up to rank 5 nice and easy. People whine incessantly about Purify. Do I care? No. I play a silence/heal deck that was nothing like anyone else's decks, win streaking from rank 8 to 5. I'm not even good and have never made it to legend but I can do fine with random decks out there so I'm sure you'll be okay too unless you're trying to play professionally.
Now you can play discardlock when it comes out, or you can find some other variant because I'm telling you right now, there will be multiple decks that you can climb with, just like there is now. For those of us who actually like the archetype (I played the deck when Fist of J had just come out and loved it), it's exciting to see it supported. If it pisses you off, play Handlock or regular Zoo or Malylock, or whatever your little heart desires because they'll still be viable. Or just go back to your T1/T2 decks and leave the rest of us alone.
Card seems broken at first glance. Then you think about it and you start to remember the IF part of being discarded. The RNG level means it will be crazy some times and other times you'll wonder how its managed to ninja dodge being discarded any time its not the only thing that can be discarded.
Here's to hoping that Zavas is a bit less intent on dodging every discard in every game like Silverware is. Just played a couple games of Discardlock to refamiliarize myself, and for one game I had it in my opening hand and still had it on turn seven as my only card.

Discardlock will be the new OP deck imo. You can potentially end the game in 5 turns, or you can switch to value game for infinite imps. Its pretty obvious they are pushing the discard mechanic to help sell Karazhan. It has always been like this in the previous expansions.
An incredible card for sure. The stats and mana cost are almost irrelevant, just keeping this in your hand to not discard other cards is more value than playing a card can ever be. And if you happen to have this in hand and a Malchezaar's Imp in play, you're just drawing free cards left and right.
This is so good for any deck that runs discard effects: including the current, aggressive Discard Zoo that is not interested in running the quest. In fact, aggressive Discard Zoo might end up being the better discard deck over the quest variant. I don't think the quest is a good fit for the aggressive version by the way, it requires a slower deck, and discard as a mechanic is hard to combine with running a slower deck, especially a control deck. Maybe the quest can fit in a more midrange-style variant, but it will be challenged by the aggro variant that does not want the quest for sure.
This card is good if we are talking about its ability, but bad if we are talking about the design. The legendary is designed for only Discard Warlock deck, otherwise is crap. Other decks literally cannot use it. 1 legendary for exactly 1 deck. This is sad :((
I'm also upset that BOTH warlock legendaries are like this. If you play warlock, the legendaries in this set are ONLY for discolock. That's kind of stupid.
so, you start with the quest, mull on this and have a Doomguard in hand.

I love the design of this card; very unique and interesting. I'll definitely try control disco lock.

This is really good, if your opponent has no removal and you discard it a few times, daaaamn

Discardlock will definitely be making a comeback, I think.

I have also examined the discard archetype in more detail in my blog: http://www.kilkku.com/oldguardian/2017/03/an-early-look-at-discardlock-in-journey-to-ungoro/

Changed my mind on this card, I think it will at least be run just to counter the discard effect. The stats are a bonus.
