One of the best boardclears in the game. That can also 1v1 an ysera if needed. Yes targets own board also but most boardclears you only want to play when your behind so that hardly matters.
Keep in mind even if you account this as a 7 mana card which it isnt in most cases this is a better flamestrike that can clear high health single target. Sick card.
This card is going to surprise people. It has the potential to wipe the board when there is a bunch of small enemy minions on board when you are behind. I am surprised people are underestimating it, but then again what I have seen from this community when it comes to evaluating cards is that every new card that gets revealed is unplayable garbage unless it is blatantly overpowered.
Except that makes it actually viable as a board clear. Not sure what deck it fits in though since shaman usually has a lot of minions out, so that makes this suck... but yay more (possibly) good board clear for shaman.
There is very little RNG here, even though it's got the word "random" on it.
In the vast majority of cases, it's going to clear the board, period. If the Shaman has minions, he's going to trade them before playing Volcano. And since it can't hit face, there's nowhere for excess damage to go.
and then your volcanic drakes can come out of the volcano.

Nope cause they go wild :P
And Wild is a perfectly valid format, where both of the cards mentioned will be present.

Shouldn't this card be called Volcanic Eruption? A volcano by itself doesn't spew out drops of magma. Other than that I think this card has the potential to be a great new board clear and I love the flavor of it.
My first thought was 'great, another board clear for shaman', but midrange decks won't run this. I'm looking forward to experimenting more with a control deck.

Many times even when you are behind you have small minions and tons of basic totems on the board. And you won't be able to sacrifice your totems and they will soak up a third or even half the damage of Volcano, some ennemy minions will survive that you didn't expect and get you frustrated and salty, you will lose concentration and lose the game.
And many times you are ahead, have decent-big minions on the board but you could still use a board clear to push more face damage and this card will be 100% dead.
This will probably be a good card in heavy control non-jade shaman decks. Yeah right... I will build something like this because i'm a timmy but this won't see any play on ladder.
And the 2 cards that could solve this issue and change your hero power are gone to Wild. (Finley and Charged hammer).
If you have no minions and the opponent has a bunch of small minions trying to rush you down with less than 15 health between them, chances are this card will actually clear the board. If all the minions on the board combined have 15 health or less, this card will clear the board. And saying that a card with a powerful effect like this will not see play despite not being tested yet is ridiculous. Unless a card is obviously garbage than players will play this card because people will want to test how good it is.
And the whole "some ennemy minions will survive that you didn't expect and get you frustrated and salty, you will lose concentration and lose the game." that could pretty much apply to any random effect in hearthstone and that is hardly an argument because you are just looking at what the worst possible outcome could be, an argument like that can be used to say that sylvanas is a bad card because if it dies it may steal a useless totem instead of the opponents flamewreathed faceless. You can make that argument to say that any card is bad.
Don't get me wrong I understand where you are coming from because this card could backfire spectacularly if you have minions on the board as well, there is more than 15 health combined between all minions and you are just hoping that the card will clear your opponents board and not yours. So I get that point, but if any player is willing to play this card like this and risk a play like that, than they have to accept the consequences.

Why are you telling me this while quoting my post ? My whole point is that shaman will very often have minions on the board even when they're behind.

It's called speculation, it's all your going to see on this forum for the next month. Players will test this card, the meta will settle and this card will disappear because it's too tricky to pull of effectively. Saying a card "will see play" because there are people experimenting with it when the expansion hits, this is the real nonsense.
Also, take into account that if the card is strong enough to actually see play, then everyone will just adapt, play around it and let all your 0/2 totems alive when they expect a Volcano, so your 15 damage basically turns into 11-9 damage. It is bound to be garbage unfortunately.

Well, I agree, but rather than accept the consequences, people will just remove it from their deck, because people really hate dead cards.
Elemental destruction saw very little play for the same reason, it's a very expansive board clear that clears your own board and leave you with tons of overload, and that ends up completely dead in your hand whenever you have something relevant on the board. So Volcano is better in that sense, it would be a lot worse as 3 mana overload 4 imo. But i still don't think this is enough, would you really replace maelstrom portal or lightning storm for volcano ? To counter what specifically ?
Whatever you say dude. I'll test the card out when I get the chance and find out for myself whether or not the card is playable instead of arguing with some guy on a forum whether or not a card is constructed worthy before even playing it. I look forward to the expansion and I can't wait to try out these new cards when it comes out. I have a feeling this card will perform much better than people believe it will but we shall see.
Also if your opponent has a couple of small minions (say 2/2 3/3 and 4/3) they usually start play a little bit around aoe and drop something lots of health. But Volcano kills even a 7/7 along with the 3 small minions.
I don't see why you're telling someone else to not assume it's a good card without testing it and at the same time you're assuming it's a bad card, WITHOUT TESTING IT. Logic 101.
As far as I can see, it's flexible (can kill a bunch of small minions, 3 mid sized or 2 big ones), not that tricky to pull off since you know it deals exactly 15 damage, turn 5 is almost the perfect turn to play it on... It being a dead card when you have minions on the board did not stop brawl being a 2 off in every CW deck, you have other removal to play in those cases. Yes it costs a lot and it could hit your own totems but I'd rather wait and see the rest of the set and how the metagame pans out. This looks like a really tough card to evaluate right now but I definitely see more upsides than downsides. Corner cases like your opponent not trading into your 2 totems for some reason is not how you evaluate cards.

This may very well be a good board clear, but I'm going to miss Elemental Destruction.

Well don't forget that it kills an ysera for 5 mana when it's the only minion on board. Maelstrom portal and lightning storm cannot.
Only an ignorant person would call this an RNG card. Vast majority of times this is played the board has less than 15 health.
