"Power Overwhelming allows for extremely mana-efficient minion trades or high spikes of damage for only one mana. Keeping this card exclusive to Wild will prevent some crazy combinations and spike damage. Warlock decks also tend to use lots of Classic cards, so the decks changes less when new expansions release. This change will help increase the variety of cards in Warlock decks over time."

I didn't think this card was an issue until people reminded me that Leeroy OTK was a thing. It's hard to play any non-mage control deck against a combo deck and not eventually die to a random 24 damage. When you heal to full and still die with board control - that's a bit sad. Who knows what will exist next set but maybe we'll see a resurgence in decks like Midrange paladin and slower non-dragon control priests?
I do wonder if zoo decks will be viable in warlock constructed after next set releases. Loosing power overwhelming is a big blow there. It's also sad that I will probably never get to Sergeant Sally + Power Overwhelming now. (Didn't pull her in any packs from Gadgetzan though I liked the combo idea from her announcement)
Bummer. PO is fun for various combos. Plus, it's a removal that costs you a minion, unlike many vanilla removal spells.
I don't see how using PO to get Leeroy to 14 attack is all that different from a 20/20 Cthun, anyfin, a huge Nzoth, or a 10/10 and 11/11 jade being dropped on the same turn. It's just a different late game win condition.

Really? Leeroy/PO requires 3-4 cards with no prior setup (or 1 proc of emporer) for instant huge charge burst. A 20/20 cthun requires you to build most of your deck around it a slowly build it, as does an 11/11 jade. And while you can make a solid n'zoth with just 3-4 big minions, you have to play those minions first, hope they don't get morphed/entombed, and they don't have charge when played.
Most warlock zoo decks I've encountered never carried PO with them nor does current meta supports using it anyway. Though it IS part of Leeroy and probably number 1 reason to rotate it out of standart but, e-e-eh, it's only 20 damage on turn 9 at best, you have to do 10 dmg first somehow too. There's not much to like when something's removed but not the biggest issue, unlike Azures. The loss of Imp Gang Boss and Dark Peddler more hurting.
To me, this is the saddest change Blizz is making for the next hearthstone "year". Although this card enabled big OTK's, it also provided some of the most unique combos in the game. Using it on Sylvanas to steal a minion. Using it on Sergeant Sally for a 5 damage board clear on enemy. Using it on a minion, trading, then eating up the leftovers with a Void Terror. Using Watcher, PO, Shadowflame to clear.
I understand that it enabled really strong trades but zoolock isn't even a thing right now. My guess is that the Leeroy combo is what caused it to ultimately be moved to Wild. Because of all the cool combos this card enables, I think it should stay in Standard. Perhaps a suitable nerf instead would be to not allow it to be cast on charge minions as that seems to be where all of the OTK issues come from. I would hate to see such a creative and unique card be relegated to wild.
On another note, at least this encourages me to spend more time in wild playing Demonlock and Handlock as many of the best tools are going to be moved there.

Sad to see a card that is so iconic to the class getting shipped into wild.
Why am I sticky?
Yup - another move that needed to happen.
Yessssss

I'm happy they are changing this card rather than changing say Leeroy Jenkins.

Overdue as well. With many of the bad shit shaman cards rotating out we might get a pretty different meta. I am really fealing hopefull at the moment.

this and flametongue is what made soggoth meaningless against the aggressive decks.

I am completely fine with this.

Why didn't you just post this in the discussion topic for this subject...
Didn't see one. My bad
''Using it on Sylvanas to steal a minion.''
You don't have to worry about that anymore.
