Funny thing is, I just was playing around in casual with a sort of Secret Hunter a couple days ago. I say "sort of" because I basically threw it together from whatever Hunter cards I happened to have (Two Secretkeeper, 9 traps, and no Eaglehorn Bow). It was really fun, but I imagine it would be less fun if people start stocking Flare and Eater of Secrets.
I found that Hunter secrets tend to have very good value for their cost, often the equivalent of a 3 or 4 mana minion or spell for 2 mana each, with the downside being that your opponent has to play into it, and it's a tempo loss until they do. This card remedies one of those downsides, letting you play your secret while contesting the board in the same turn. It's easy to jump to "play 3 secrets in one turn, lul" mindset, but don't ignore the simpler applications of it, such as that your opponent may find it harder to test for secrets if they risk getting hurt next turn.
And of course, there's always the extreme. With Cat Trick coming in to play, you could make yourself a deck wherein half your cards are secrets. Which, while beyond gimmicky, is also beyond hilarious.
Even if you play this without secrets people are gonna freak out really quick like they do with Brann and rightfully so.Only thing this does not have going for it is the Beast tag but Mad Scientist was played regardless of the tag,a good card for sure.
This is a monster. you think that secret pally was bad? well now just wait to meet Secret hunter. you can even put all the secret's and Gadgetzhan and this on turn 9 and draw halw of your deck while you protect your call of the wild board with snakes, bears and panter's while you deal a random +1 spell power swipe to the enemy and return a blizzard's nerfed minion, it works super good with lock and load as well. good solid common hunter card for arena.
I really like the card and even if I agree on the fact that this is a good card in Control Hunter, i think it's even better in aggro and I came out with this deck that summarizes the idea. It's a work in progress so don't really pay attention to the deck's quality. This Cloaked Huntress allows you to empty your hand easily. Also, it makes valuing your hero power instead of playing secrets better. Getting an empty hand is often bad… except when it allows you to play a 4mana7/7.
I like it, I think other people are overreacting since secrets are played a lot less in hunter than they used to be, still it is quite good. maybe sees play in midrange hunter but they don't need 3 drops and secrets are horrible 2 drops, I would say only good in a control or yogg hunter, and it dilutes your elekk draws so it may in fact not be good in yogg. I want it to see lots of play but I have my doubts.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Just fill your deck with one drops, that is creative deck design, right?
I can not understand the hype about this card which is obviously bad. You put a spidertank into your deck and a bunch of secrets that suck. Or does anyone play kirin tor mage which can pull a secret that is actually good?
Bad?Hunter secrets are insane, just a notch below mage secrets mate.Kirin Tor Mage is a 4/3 that pulls 1 secret max on your turn.As long as this fucker lives you keep pumping secrets.(Which is 2-3 max if they can't kill it which is absurd value)
It's not as bad as Mysterious Challenger as it doesn't thin your deck, but this is still freaking absurd.
The difference between this and MC is that Hunter secrets are really strong and impactful compared to Paladin secrets which are medicore at best expect Avenge.Imagine if this one even pulled 2 hunter secrets from your deck, that would be insane
You're also missing the fact that this card is a must-remove for your opponent. Let this live for a few turns and you've basically just lost yourself the game.

It is not very probable that you will have more than 1 secret in hand together with this card. And hunter secrets ar far away from insane ... otherwise they would be played. You will have to play a lot of bad to mediocre secrets in a deck, and often you will end with absolutely useless hands. I would almost say that this card is unplayable in serious constructed play.
I'm sorry what Hunter decks are you playing? Because just about every Hunter deck I've played with Hunter has had 2-3 secrets at the very list. (I took Midrange Hunter to Rank 4 last season, so I'm not completely clueless on the topic)
I think the card can be good but not too good. If you have to many traps in hand and play them all you will run out of cards quick and lose steam. And often you might have one trap that isnt the best trap in the situation you are in atm, and most players will play it anyway. But in some scenarios it will take over the game. Example play it on turn 5 with lock and load and you have, say 3 traps that would be awesome.

Normal tournament list run 1 freezing trap MAX 2 secrets at the verry most.
He was refering to Chivs stream i guess ere all tournament players ratet ths card trash tier. Reason is however in a tournament you know which secrets your enemy is playing so on ladder this card/deck might be better than in tournaments.
Keep in mind though that most secrets are pretty bad and is this mysterious challenger lvl of a strong card?
Another point is that the 3 drop is heavy competet in Hunter. You dont cut eagle/Animal companion/killcommand for this do you?
This is realy for a completely new archetype of hunter in my opinion wich trys to anable a combo with lock and load to a later yogg.
BUT is that deck better than the midrang hunter list? That has to be seen. This is propably one of those cards that work or are terrible it realy comes down to how good a secret based Hunter deck will be.
This card will greatly improve the currently low-tier Yogg-Saron Hunter archetype. It's okay in minion-based lists (still strong enough to perhaps make it, despite bad synergy with Houndmaster), but it will really shine with lots of Secrets, Longbow, the new Secret-based Taunt, Lock and Load, Violet Teacher, Wild Pyromancer, Gadgetzan Auctioneer... well, probably not all of those, but it's got good synergy with any of those.
This card sucks in midrange, because hunter secrets suck. Maybe playable in yogg hunter. To make this card worth it you'd need to play at least 6 secrets and give up on things like animal companion. Because of that, you'll run into the hunter no card draw problem. Pretty bad.
This is Kirin Tor Mage for hunter, the discount is 2 instead 3 if you have only 1 secret, what is more likely to happen, the upside is 3/4 is better than 4/3 in most cases.
What Kirin never see play? It is a decent card, decent cards never can compete with OP cards like mad scientist...

Why Rogue is my favourite class:
My submission for this week's card design competition.

Verdict: meta-defining.
