Could be good in a rogue deck - I run a shadowcaster rogue and could see myself running it.
He is a great shadowcaster target and this minimizes the weapon removal downside. Just difficult to figure out what to cut for a low tempo no instant effect (unless you're eviscerating after) minion.
I think he'll see play but it's hard to think of many decks that can afford such a low tempo play on turn 8.
So, if you can afford to do nothing of immediate impact on turn 8 and if your opponent doesn't deal with it and if you have the right spells in hand.. then it's good. But your opponent will probably try to kill you and you won't be able to afford doing next to nothing on 8 as you'll die. If N'zoth will be good, then this maybe will be good, but it's more clunky then N'zoth on average.
I'm waiting to see more cards but right now Medivh looks playable to bad to me. I don't see any deck that would use him, maybe Reno Mage or Warlock but other than that the card is just too slow and requires too many things to get some value.
It's slow but if you notice with card like this and Melachazzr (sp?) they're giving classes a way to fill up their hand/deck. This might allow classes to go much more 'full' control and then fill up with finishers in other ways.
Do you see Summoning Stone played? Medivh is a fun card but will not be played in competitive is what I meant. At least it's what I think. I don't think any class even in a control match up has the luxury to keep spells in hand just to get some random minions later.
Malchezaar is auto include in fatigue decks. Just because most people don't play this kind of super slow deck doesn't mean it's shit. It will also see play in some aggro-ish midrange decks, they will remove all the lategame and add this one card instead.
The cards you get only ever matter if you actually reach fatigue. In every other case they just clog up your deck, make it less likely for you to draw your actually good cards and as a result make it more likely for you to get stampeded by any aggro or Zoo deck. Plus there's no guarantee that the legendaries you get will even be good.
There's no reason to ever play this card over Elise since Elise doesn't clog up your entire deck until you actually WANT to get a bunch of legendaries.
If you've ever played other card games where deck sizes vary you'll see that almost all competitive decks have as few cards as possible. Having 5 extra cards in your deck is a downside, not a plus. Having 5 extra random cards is a complete disaster.

They're entirely different cards.
No, they're very similar cards. But medivh is like a 5/5 summoning stone. This card sucks because it's a 0/6 and 0 atk sucks since it can't make favorable trades, not because the effect is slow or bad or whatever.
No, they aren't. The important difference is that there are very few ways to interact with the staff (and even fewer see play), which makes it an entirely different card in the way that it actually plays. This card is like if summoning stone had stealth, not like if it were a 5/5 minion.
Every deck has a way to interact with on board minions, regardless of their stat line. Interacting with weapons or stealthed minions require very specific answers, and it requires that they be in your hand.
As funny as it is I think this makes warriors a bit worse. Lot of people will be running more weapon removal now. Not only is this card cool but it might bring the tier 1 class currently down a peg due to that. That is the definition of meta defining. I cant wait to use this card in every class.
I don't think this compares to summoning stone. SS is a card that is a free trade with anything on the board and the treat is neutralized the effect goes away. You have to wait to play SS on a turn where you get some value at all which is often even more than the turn 8 medivh.... This is a 7/7 body plus your opponent must have weapon removal in hand to cancel the effect. Which might mean they have to leave the 7/7 alone in order to play Harrison if they are lucky enough to have it in hand.
This is a good card. It will see play. As much as Elise IMO.
Weapons dont have to be bows, knifes and axes, the y can also be wands, staffs, etc. And can be used by every class, not for their stats but to provide other abilities.
This is the way!

A new Reno Mage appears.
My magic will tear you apart!
Oh yeah, come to my Reno Mage, now I can play my own hero on the board.
Mage OP in Arena and Meta, oh baby <3.

summon after or before the spell effect ?
"That belongs in a museum"
Hunter lock and load yogg seems fun...

Interesting card, I can see it being extremely good in a slow Paladin deck
You're missing the point, so I'm not going to bother talking about this further with you.

If anything this screams value.
Stupid sexy Medivh.
This card is pretty good. I could see it being used in a Yogg deck, or maybe a Tempo Mage that doesn't run Rhonin.
Love it!
