This is a really good card, as good as it gets or maybe even better than you can expect for a 1-drop in the specialized deck it's supposed to be run in.
Warlock needs one or maybe two more discard cards that are decent on their own and have an immediate impact on the board, Doomguard-style. (it doesn't have to have Charge to be abused as finishers, but instead have Taunt or deal damage to enemy minions).
It helps you optimize your hand, if you have 1-2 cards you dont have an use for, you can now just cycle them with Doomguard instead of playing it and paying 4 life over 2 turns to draw a couple of cards. Against aggro decks, you don't tap that happily after all, so it is not a bad idea to cycle without tapping.
It opens up a new type of deck; which equates to fun for me. It's boring playing the same deck over and over again, no matter how successful it may or may not be. And besides, if Blizzard wants to make this a thing I wouldn't be surprised if at least one of the remaining unseen cards helps buff this type of deck.

Dependable loan sharks since 1960. We sink our teeth into every deal we make.
It's interesting, but maybe hearthstone lacks something MTG has to make self discard viable which is Graveyard. Most decks that discard that do so for a reason, like Threshold mechanic, or in order to get it back later on, such as startegies used by Reanimator or Aggro Loam.
This card DOES mitigate the problem of losing tempo by replacing your hand with more card. If you can get value of something like the gvg 8/8, maybe it can rock.
In a zoolock this card has no need because you dont need extra cards.
No shit ! Why would they make cards that support only one archetype ? They made darkshire councilman last time, zoolock got enough love for quite some time don't you think ?
I'm so sick of all those retarded comments "this card doesn't improve my tier 1 deck, so bad !"
Do you even understand why they make new cards ?
Anyway, this card is amazing. Sick art, great stats, and auto include in discard archetype. Is it enough to make viable discard deck ? Not even close. But it's something and one day eventually we will have enough support card to have fun with discard in wild.
And honestly it COULD even see play in old school zoolock with soulfire and doomguard, it could very easily replace the 1/3 taunt.
