freeze is favored against every aggro deck, except some double innervate fel reaver druid bullshit, what are you talking about? shaman matchup is like 60/40 or 55/45 for freeze
I don't think Alexstrasza herself needed to be nerfed, but SOME part of freeze mage did (Ice Block personally getting my vote). The deck has always been strong, and by it being ignored it's practically guaranteed to always be a part of the meta in Standard (defeating half its purpose).
(And cards like Eater of Secrets are never going to kill the deck, because they'll simply hurt too much in any other match-up. Even match-ups that kill the deck will hardly remove it, as Freeze Mage has to be fighting them more than half the time for it to longer be worth it.)
Alexstrasza is far from the only non interactive part of freeze mage. Every turn is no interaction. Frost nova+Doomsayer. Mad scientist, play secret...freeze a million times, run card draw. Drop Alex, know off half the opponent's life. Next turn drop the spell burst combo. All those other examples...those decks actually put stuff on the board, and interact actively with it.
Combo druid was a counter to freeze mage, combo is gone now. The other druids don't fare so well. Control warrior, yeah that is still a great counter. Too bad not everyone loves playing that specific deck.
You do realise that Freeze Mage is not an autopilot deck and it is a control/combo deck? It is easier said than done to survive up to turn 9 and even then you might not draw alexsdrasza. Alexsdrasza sometimes isn't necessary to win, it helps but not neccessary. Cards such as Archmage Antonidas and Bloodmage Thalnos also help a lot. Mulliganing right and making the right plays is the difference between surviving the early game or dying. How is Frost Nova/Blizzard+Doomsayer not interactive? It is one of the board clears in deck that doesn't need to be nerfed. That is like saying Shadowflame, Lightbomb or any type of Board Clear isn't interactive. The biggest counter to doomsayer is silence which almost all decks run. IMO, Secret Paladin is the most least fun and interactive deck to play against with the Christmas Tree lighting up on turn 6. If you really hate or have a grudge against freeze Mage, play patron or control warrior to counter it then instead of whining about it. Learn to play types different decks to counter the meta instead of sticking to one deck only. If the meta shifts to one full of warriors, no one will play freeze Mage but the meta at the moment is full of Zoolock and secret Paladins so it is green light ahead for freeze Mage. Some decks counter others and it is no exception in deck.

That was topdecked? Nah, it was because I let the Heart of the Cards guide me ;)
I think that to nerf freeze mage they'd have to nerf either Ice Block or the burst potential of the deck and not Alexstrasza and if they didn't, it's because we gonna see a lot of C'Thun decks and that Ice Block is one of the rare counter to a 20/20 c'thun on turn 10.
fm is only as strong as it is now because of emperor. with it, they can do 30+ damage. Without emperor though, they are limited to about 23 damage at most. once he's gone fm is going to lose a lot of power and will probably slink into tier 3 or 4

By then the damage will be already done, many will be suffering from PSTD long after quitting the game.
I only asked for nerfs to Mysterious Challenger and Dr. Boom on these forums. However Blizzard's inconsistency is frustrating, if they are against bursty combos and non interactive decks...forgetting the reigning King (or Queen) is incredibly irksome.
Another thing. Everyone is cheering the silence nerfs. Well who is cheering the loudest? Doomsayer that's who. 7 stats for a 2 body, and now not silencable except by priest without a loss. Owl, loss of 1. Spellbreaker loss of 2.
Without a doubt. frost nova doomsayer will now work much more percentage of time because of owl nerf... With bgh nerfed, alex's 8/8 body probably might deal devastating damage to your opponent. The only thing freeze mages lose are their mad scientists, which i believe won't mage a slight impact on freeze mage.
Seems like that control decks aren't taking a single hit while aggro decks are getting crushed.
Although I hate control warrior, I feel like that I will be crafting control warrior when standard comes just to counter freeze mage.
God dammit. 2/3 of no. What is wrong with you guys?
Seems that people enjoy watching their face get bursted to 0 and not being able to do anything about it. Freeze Cancer Mage is so uninteractive that it is wrong to say that you "play" against them. You just watch yourself lose.
I wouldn't like Blizzard to nerf classic/basic cards just to "keep the meta fresh" but god dammit Alexstrasza is the exception. Kill this bitch with fire.
Holy mother of necro. Take a look at the date before posting.
Holy crap, why did it show up in Hpwn's threadfeed then ? Someone else made a post that got deleted ?
Anyway, that non-necro rule is stupid. If the topic has already been discussed then it's perfectly fine to bring back the discussion. Especially when it's the mods themselves who redirect you to a previous topic.

If you want to nerf freeze mage then nerf an actual freeze MAGE card. Alexstrasza doesn't deserve a nerf because of this, there are tons of other decks that use her.
I hate freeze mage too because I hate uninteractive combo decks, but every deck has a right to exist as long as it doesn't rule the meta all by itself.
Freeze mage is perfectly fine nowadays, and I actually can't remember a meta where freeze mage was an issue.
Also nice necro, but I guess the topic is still relevant.
Alexstrasza is a dangerous card that can nullify any non-warrior control deck's effort to keep its life total out of burst range. Right now only freeze mage can use it but it may allow a bunch of other uninteractive deck with the same game-stalling and burst abilities. Anyway, any freeze mage presence that is above 0.00% is too much. This deck is absolute cancer and should disappear.

Who knows, maybe they'll make a legendary that's anti emperor. Every turn he's alive, make all the cards in your opponent's hand cost one more.
Of course all the control decks will complain until the chickens go home, but nothing is without controversy.

Perhaps they're going to create an anti-alex -- like... a bringer of life and hope to counter Alexstraszas death and despair..?
Alex reads:
Deal 15 damage to an opponent -- in decks she's used in...
So... and anti-Alex could just read: Restore 15 health to your hero.
Cost 9 mana and be an 8/8 taunt.
I have 3 copys of her waiting in my collection... would have been 4800 dust. :(
