5/5 Body for 5 mana (just acceptable) and 2 Cards for 2 mana (pretty good)
to
5/5 Body for 5 mana (still acceptable) and 1 Card for 2 mana (overpriced).
Not a staple any more. And a bad decision in my opinion.
The fact that you don't even think about the Health option shows that the original design was not balanced properly.
Cards that offer a choice are generally supposed to be less efficient. That's the price you pay for flexibility. In the case of this card, it was not a real choice because the draw option was so OP.
The health Option was always the shitty one and only used when in dire need. I actually would be happier if AoL just lost the "choose one" instead of the drawing downgrade. Now you can Chose between "bad" and "worse". I don't expect this card to see much play any more. But it's okay. I just transform them on my F2P account into an ancient of war...
As always, Blizzard doesn't know how to change cards without obliterating them.
Annoyingly they've done exactly that with several cards in this nerf though. Master of Disguise, Knife Juggler, Big Game Hunter all got tweaked without being nuked into oblivion. Hell even Force of Nature didn't get slaughtered.
How they can succeed and mess up simultaneously is beyond me though.
I feel that they could have buffed it a little in some other way, since this hits it a little too hard. Azure Drake is +1 mana for a single draw on an Ogre Magi. This is almost always +2 mana for a single draw on a vanilla 5/5, quite horrible. It would have been fine as a 6/5, 5/6 or 6/6, as a 6 mana minion, or with a better heal.
I've never heard of people complaining about Ancient of Lore. Ever. It was always Force/Roar, BGH, Dr. Boom (who isn't in standard) and maybe Knife Juggler (which I'm happy about).
This one, to me, was unnecessary.

Not a fan of this nerf. I don't think Ancient of Lore really needed a nerf in the first place, it's a powerful class staple but that is not necessarily a bad thing. They didn't nerf Highmane for example, which is similarly overbudgeted. This new version should at least have been reduced in cost to 6, which would have made it a strong but fair card. As it is you're now paying 2 and a half mana to draw one card or even worse restore 5 health. The card has essentially been deleted from the game and now only exists to dilute the Druid arena pool.

I completely agree. Drop it to 6 mana 5/5 and reduce the heal to 4 along with the 1-card draw option and it might still see play. Or something.
In my opnion the nerf was a bit too much. I get it, drawing two cards is really strong, that's why it was in (almost) every Druid deck aside from the Egg Druid. Still, I think it is now on the same level as Guardian of Kings, a card which hasn't seen play since Naxxramas I believe. They chould have given it a healthboost, even a little one. Either let it restore 6 health (like Guardian of Kings) or make it a 5/6.
P.S.: Some people were saying the card deserved a nerf because one option is clearly favored over the other one. Look at the Ancients "brother" Ancient of War: No one has ever played an uprooted Ancient of War unless twitch chat demanded it or the player was already winning tremendously. But this card remains untouched (for a good reason). I'm not asking for a nerf on that card, I'm just saying the argument is invalid.
Azure Drake - Neutral 5 cost minion; draw a card + spell damage +1 and 4/4.
So; on a class card [Which generally have bigger power budgets than neutrals] you get +1/+1 and lose the spell damage for 2 extra mana! [No-one uses Lore for the heal].
Not the nerf I wanted to see. I wanted to see him go to 8 mana. That would not have killed the card. This is a strictly worse Azure Drake now, and free dust.
I guess this is valid if we add in the fact that the "choose" keyword is maybe word 0.5 to 1 mana? Gaining 5 health is worth 2 on top of the 5/5 for 5. idk I agree with some other posters here, should maybe be 6 mana now, though the 6 mana slot is already oversaturated.

Didn't really feel that this was necessary. It was a good card, but its still an epic ....

I guess we'll be seeing a lot more Azure Drakes in Druid decks now.
Sorry, but face is NOT place :P
Its either draw two or draw one card huh. Too bad there's no "Draw 1.5 cards"
I love scrubs
This is the only nerf that I think is weird. It was fine the way it was since it is a class card and they can be a little OP.
Wow, Blizzard sure can't nerf cards without destroying them. Azure Drake >>> new AoL
Warsong treatment LUL

Horseshit nerf. Would be playable at 6 mana in this state and be very good. At 7 it's garbage.
Just to point out how garbage this card is now:

Card draw nerf is understandable but its now too expensive. I'm okay with the nerf if they reduce the cost to 6 mana.

this thing should be a 5/6 or 6/6 to make up for the nerf honestly. The card draw was a bit much but now the body is super inferior for the effect.
