I think this card is fine, but can we please stop saying it has Piloted Shredder stats? That's not even relevant.
Piloted Shredder is powerful because it is sticky and has insane tempo. It requires two actions to destroy it completely, and the second minion is summoned for free. It's tempo with a tiny bit of value thrown in.
Shifting Shade, on the other hand, has poor tempo. The stats are sub-par for the cost, but it (usually) draws you a card to replace itself. And you do have to pay the mana cost when you play that second card. So it's pretty good value but pretty bad tempo.
Comparing these two cards or acting like one is somehow a substitute for the other makes no sense at all. The only similarity is that they both might trade up with a 5-drop. But after that, your Shade is gone, whereas your Pilot jumps out and keeps fighting (for free).
I like it. That's saying a lot because I'm not loving the Priest cards in general.
I'm wondering if this could free up the Northshire Cleric slot for something else. I realize that's crazy talk, and will be dismissed out of hand, but, you really only need so much draw, and if you can get enough draw and replace Northshire with something more impactful, maybe it's something to consider. Maybe even Forbidden Shaping as much as I think that card is over-rated? (say in the deck above, replace 2 of the Northshire Clerics with 2 forbidden shaping. /end crazy talk.
Interesting card but... eh, I'd probably play Thoughtsteal over this... but then again its a 4-mana cost minion that essentially draws you a card. Not bad ^^
You would rather use a card that doesn't do much the turn you play it, then have a body and an extra card?
Many ppl compare this to shredder and forget that shredder IS a tempo card due to its 4 atk+ instant spawn. this one is more of a value card and not a 4 drop(still 4atk is a threat but trades with 2 drops if losing board),
Shifting shadow is much better than shredder at turn ~10+ because you'll have the mana to play the spawned card and good players will even rethink about killing it in many situations.
At first I thought you steal minions only, and got me excited really bad.. for a minion synergy deck, too bad it's not the case. still exciting and fun unlike 90% of the new cards imo.
So that new loot hoarder with better stats(Health +1 which is a pretty big deal) but draws a card worse than a card in your deck.... eh? you don't fatigue i guess?
but getting like shield slam or deadly poison out weighs the likely hood of getting good.
Still probably playable in some decks... but meh
Getting a Shield Slam or Deadly Poison outweighs the good of pulling a card from your opponents deck? Unless your opponent is running a majority of useless spells or a deck full of garbage cards there's no reason to believe this is any more than a Thoughtsteal effect with a body attached. Thoughtsteal is a pretty good card last I checked.
I'm pretty excited this is a very solid standalone card, and I'll probably test it out in a minion-heavy Priest list.

What do you mean that Shredder has "insane tempo" while Shifting Shade has "poor tempo"?
I think in the context of non GvG/overpowered minions, Shifting Shade is pretty strong.

Because once you've played Shredder, there is almost* no way to get rid of it in a single action. Even if the opponent silences then kills it, that's still two actions.
You also get two minions for 4 mana with Shredder. Getting more for your mana is a form of tempo.
(*Entomb or Mind Control, but those are class-specific spells that probably have better targets.)
The better comparison is to Polluted Hoarder and Gnomish Inventor: a 6+ combined stat minion for 4 mana that draws you a card. It is better statted than both of those cards, but its a class card. Additionally, generally speaking drawing a random card from your opponents deck is worse than drawing from your own: for every game you steal because it copies Varian Wrynn or Fireball, there will be two where it copies a Leper Gnome or Deadly Poison or other card that's fairly blank for your deck's strategy.

Ok card I guess... I don't see Throughsteal be played for ages now, so I'm not sure this one will be either.
In wild I guess it will never be played outside some very specific deck.

It's funny to me that people are rating this above frost caller.
Good card. Nothing Special.
And it's just what I wanted, to give Priests another way to steal my shit #sarcasm
This minion looks like a demon, and steal from opponent (rogue is a amateur in steal compare to this class).
This priest is very suspicious, to say the minimum.

Despite that I think this is a roleplaying piece of the N'Zoth the Corruptor Priest deck, and yet another very good present from Museum Curator. That +1 Health over Hoarder is a pretty big deal since it means this doesn't die to Consecration, Backstab, Dark Iron Skulker, Argent Lance, Holy Nova, Demonwrath, and any number of 2-power minions many of whom are 1-drops.
voted for playable. Think this card fits some new tempo decks with Herald Volasz and N'Zoth
Heroes never die.
