"The titans sent twenty of their Mountain Giants against Soggoth. Of those twenty giants, only one survived. The tablets say that Kronn, the largest of the stone giants, allowed himself to be entangled by Soggoth's tendrils -- just long enough to be lifted close enough to the creature's skull and within reach of Kronn's mighty sword." - Wowpedia
The Hearthstone version looks like it can't even survive two giants.

Man Foe Reaper 4000 was 8 mana 6/9 with a better text and never saw play. Granted, the power level of WOG will go down, but this card should have been 8 mana to have a chance to be good.
If you play a Foe Reaper 4000, the enemy can ignore it and go to your face, that its a very big problem in late game. With this minion the enemy have to deal with battlecrys and minions if they wanna kill you or do damage.
Just one mana crystal lower and this card MIGHT have been considered in some control archetypes. I wonder what Blizzard is thinking when they design cards like this. Now you HAVE to cheat it out through Astral Communion or Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound if it would ever make it in standard. Sad :/
Could this suggest a possible nerf to silence minions? Seems a bit odd to make a card like this when it can be nullified with an Owl or Keeper of the Grove.
Considering that this is a 9 mana minion, and by turn 9, the other player might as well have 8/9 mana minions, this is incredibly weak. I mean, a North Sea Kraken kills both this and whatever smaller creature is hidden behind this and still survives. And a kraken costs 40 dust, as opposed to 1600, and you can put two of those into your deck.
This card would have been great had it been printed for instance as a 4/8 for 7 mana. At 9 mana it is too heavy to see play, as in constructed generally cards costing 8 or more mana have to either have a very strong battlecry or be exceptional value to see play.
Why could they not give him some more health? At least 12, like Malygos and Ysera, maybe even 15? I like the concept of a big taunt like that for value and aggro-stomping, but they screwed up his stats:-(
Stuff like this annoys me more than it should. At the moment, you're right. Ironbeak wrecks this. Just like BGH obliterates 3 out of 4 old gods. But Blizzard has specifically stated that silence is getting weighted far more heavily than it has in the past (meaning Ironbeak, Spellbreaker, and Keeper are all high probability nerfs) and they've specifically stated BGH is at the top of their list of cards to look at.
Cards can't be evaluated in a vacuum, but given the information we DO have available statements like Ironbeak Exists, so this sucks, or BGH exists, so this sucks are ignorant at best and trolling at worst. If you were trolling, well played, you got me *hands a cookie*.
Not terrible, but a little too expensive.
My first thoughts were this should be 8 mana and 1 more stat, it's still not bad though.

7mana 5/10 taunt vs 9 mana 5/9 taunt
What is legendry?
Make the Card: The biggest thread on the site!
My mandibles which are capable of pressing down and tearing, my talons which are known to intercept and hold.
May be good in Ramp Druid. Too slow in anything else, unless your opponent's Deathlord pulls it for you in Wild.
Buff to Elise Starseeker, Sneed's Old Shredder and Confessor Paletress.
Too slow against Agro ...
But against control , not bad :)
