As others have mentioned, this is a ramp druid card. It goes well with Naga Sea Witch or Aviana. The advantage it has over Ancient of War is that its health and taunt are permanent, not the result of a battlecry. So, if KelThuzad brings him back, he is still a big taunter,and also, if YSharjj summons him, he is useful whereas Ancient of War would just be a 5/5. I think there is an Y Sharjj/Naga deck to be made with no small creatures and this big taunt is part of it. It may be that Iron Bark Protector is about as good though... Depends on the spells
If they nerf Owl, this card will be a pretty big pain in the butt to get through.

That is a pretty broad statement, there as many situations where this is true where it's not. I mean if you are plopping this guy down for 9 mana, it's probably because you need to soak some damage. If he doesn't do that then that is bad, maybe even you dying bad. I mean unless you are just playing him cause you are so far ahead and it doesn't matter...well, there are likely better 9 mana options out there.
Just when you think they can't possibly release a worse legendary that Yogg.....they give us this pile of shit...I think I'm seriously hoping for rares and epics in my packs this expansion...legendarys are just going to be auto dust...............pathetic

Control has a hard time dealing with this since most of their efficient removal are spells and weapons. Not even a fully charged Gorehowl will kill it. Will probably almost always 2-for-1 in slower match-ups. Could also be completely unusable.

Soggoth the Slitherer is a really great card against Priest (they rarely run minion based silence and do not have high attack minions to kill him easily). It sucks against aggro and aggressive decks with silence (midrange hunter) since it is slow and highly overpriced when silenced. And it stinks when compared to Ancient of War (except against priest :) . But I think it's nice against lategame minions although slightly overprized. As someone said, maybe 8 mana would have been good. I would have preferred 12 health (like Ysera and Malygos). Anyway, I really like it and if I don't get it from a pack, I likely will craft it. I think I will try it in midrange Paladin as a blocker after Tirion :)
Ok, so first of all this minion is cool but he is still susceptible to creature abilities and wraths so while I think he has a great design, he is very expensive to drop and susceptible to minion silences.
I think its a really cool design though when you really break him down. I have been asking for a stronger minion with the no spell targeting clause on him for a while now but similarly to Spectral Knight, he has a lower attack and higher defense when looking at his stat line. It actually reminds me of a legendary Spectral Knight mashed together with an Arcane Nullifier X-21 and they just sort of awkwardly added the cards together.
Overall, I like the design but I suspect that its a little high on the cost for what it does. I am not really ever excited by 9 mana minions regardless of my deck because they are very late before you can drop them and they consume your turn. I really would have preferred to have seen a 6-7 mana version instead.
Overall, cool design but I am not a fan of the cost so I would say.... 2/5.

What's wrong with the stats? A 5/9 Taunt is about the same as a 7/9 Taunt. It's pretty decent statwise.

I love this one! Maybe the 9 cristal are a little too much. Maybe would better if it was cheaper and with lower stats.
I think it can be work in a more slow combo druid.
Very cool card, but I'm not sure if it will be playable at this cost... Hope to see some play
Depends on how the meta shapes up. It's alright, but not a game changer.
I feel like Owl is definitely getting hit after reading this card though. Practically nullifies all the good things about this card.

A 4 mana version of the card exists. It's a Mech.
They need to fix cards like these though, because they're still effected by group spells like Twisting Nether, Brawl, Mass Dispel etc.
Mana cost too high and vulnerable to silence. Only good if you don't have to pay for it.
