No mistake here. I'd rather have the dust to create some new cards I actually want and like to play for two years than play the same broken cards forever and ever. At some point, doesn't Wild just get stale? Every mana slot has a "best option".
Again I have no experience with it in Hearthstone, but in general the larger a card pool gets in a game the less stale any Wild-type format gets, because people generally do not just restrict themselves only to obvious things. Boring players might, but I think most players experiment, since that's the entire draw of the format in the first place: Play with whatever. I would think the people focused on playing the best things only and going for raw statistical superiority and top winrates are most often just going to play Standard, where there are less cards to worry about in the first place.
Keep in mind that the more options there are, the easier it is for the more-or-less statistical inevitability of a counter to everything cropping up. Put plainly, no matter how powerful a card is, something counters it and the chances of seeing those counters (or counter-combinations) should be higher in Wild than in Standard.
I've watched friends play Wild -- even help them with their decks -- and I rarely even see Sylvanis/Dr. Boom. See Ragnaros sometimes. And they have decent winrates with like weird heal-centric Inspire priests or Dreadsteed Warlocks, so... But maybe that's my ego talking since I put those decks together for them. =P
(I guess I do quasi-play Wild then... I think The Grand Tournament might be my favorite set in the game's history from a design and mechanics perspective. So many of the cards are... so elegant. I can't think of a single Standard set that feels better to me.)
I'm a free to play budget player for now. So Wild offers me next to nothing.
This is main mistake. Wild offers FtP players much more than standart. Because you do not have to craft new deck every year to play this fomat.
U can craft your favorite deck once and enjoy it forever
Oh I know, but that only applies when you have Wild cards in the first place, since you need to shell out cash or dust to get them unless you have a set that rotated out. I do not. =P
As I said, will probably prefer Wild when I lose favorite cards. If I can ever get the collection of cards needed to make that weird C'thun/Rotface Warrior I made for a friend, it'll probably be after Old Gods and Gadgetzan rotate out, so I'll have to play that in Wild. And by god I WILL play that day someday.
Or, you could just play BOTH. I am happy to report that I greatly enjoy playing both formats. I lose nothing, I have the cards for both, and I get to experience the differences between the two. While some decks plague both, having the option to switch between them makes me see cards from both sides much more often, and it also allows me to make a very thorough use of my card collection. There is no need to be restrained to one format, both is the best option. It is also the great thing about Wild, all Standard cards are included in Wild, so you can just make a deck for Standard at any point you want.
That's one thing I've never understood: I've heard people say things like "soon this set will be in Wild", and I keep thinking... It already is. o_0 I know they probably mean it will rotate out, but there seems to actually be a mentality that there isn't an appeal in playing Standard cards in Wild, when they usually help improve old Wild decks or make new ones. It's also interesting to test fully-Modern decks against the game's full collection sometimes.
Didn't start playing until November 2016 so I avoided cards that would rotate out like the plague. But now that I can buy them again I'm going to do so. Just got the three rotated adventures. Still need to get at least 50 packs from each of the expansions. After that I have a feeling I'm going to play a lot more wild than standard (I will start playing some wild as soon as I'm done with the adventures).
While I enjoy spending the majority of each season in Wild, there is one thing that's more retarded than any Aggro Shaman deck. Need a hint? "Who am I? None of your buisness!"
Well yeah, but I can't make the song-reference if I say something like "why not play both?" lol :P
I wouldn't take everything I said seriously: this is a good-vibes "hey, you should play Wild! :D" post. There's a smiley face in my title; that should tell you everything heh

I've actually started playing standard more than wild lately. I'm sooooooooooo tired of prieststone over there. big priest now has resurrect and ragnaros which is just annoying as fuck to play against. highlander deathknight priest also has reno, lightbomb, belcher, sylvanas, excavated evil and entomb. that game is just a 20 minute disaster of frustration. at least in standard when i get these mofos down to a low hp total i know he cant just play his deathknight, clear my board and reno the following turn while emoting like a monkey
One of most uninformed opinion. People like you should just stay away from stating your opinion, because it makes you sound like a fool. I played hundreds of wild games and you see those cards rarely, and very rare to see those in same deck if at all.

Umm, I believe you are misinterpreting the post. The final line reads as "If I said 'I don't like Wild', I would be lying."

I have fun in both, but Wild is definitely the better format. Yeah you have to deal with some insanely broken decks and some annoying old cards, but it stays way more diverse than Standard. People constantly bring their Standard lists to Wild, so you have the ~3 decks that are played in Standard at any given time, plus all the crazy shit you can run into in Wild; it's like Standard on steroids.
I also agree that Wild is the more friendly format for new players. When first starting out, you don't have Standard cards either, so you're free to pursue either format. If you choose Standard, you're at the mercy of rotations and meta shifts. If a deck is good in Wild, it takes a hell of a lot to ever make it not good. That being said, even Secret Pally isn't as OP as he used to be, and we can thank Wild for allowing Standard cards. With the newest cards being available in Wild as well, new releases provide so much diversity on the Wild ladder. So much fun never knowing what you're going to run into.

No, no! Stay in Standard kids! Trust me on this one. I know we Wild elitists love to pretend our mode is better than the 'peasant' one, but the truth is, as much as Standard failed in its main objective (keeping things fresh and balanced), it is still important that it remains popular. Plus, Wild ladder is as shit as Standard, but that's another story.
The reason why Wild is enjoyable (sometimes) is because it goes under the radar. Most netdeckers are too busy turning Standard into the repetitive shithole it is. As soon as Wild becomes mainstream (let's hope never), we will see more broken decks, and they will leak to my precious casual mode where I can actually have fun in this game (sometimes).
Pros and "seriously competitive" players can keep Standard and stay in there. Chances are they'll add nothing good to Wild.
Popularity kills. Remember that. Regardless of what it is, the last thing you want is for something you love to become popular.
Also, Blizzard needs to make money somehow. If Standard bombs chances are less new cards are needed for Wild decks, which means less new packs need to be bought.

Start of Year: Provoke the failure of 3 expansions, force nerfs on otherwise balanced cards, bring deckbuilding to an all-time low and get rotated one year earlier for being such a threat to the game's health. - Genn and Baku's historical entry on the White Book of Shit Design, shortly before retiring unpunished

If you started playing early and collected the bulk of each set, that may be the case, but for someone that started later or missed some sets that is not true. I started playing In WotOG. I have basically nothing from any of the earlier sets and it is more practical to get the key cards from each set in standard than to back fill those sets as I will never get enough packs to catch up. And as a bonus cards that leave standard give me dust to jumpstart new decks to play.

I enjoy Wild, though I have seen some mixed results in my experience. I enjoy it more than standard mainly because I was able to get to rank 10 (not that good, but good for me) and I was only able to get to rank 12 in Standard. Granted I have only been playing “competitively” since August of 2015, I had amassed quite a collection of cards. Thus making Wild a no brainer.
I'm Standard legend player, have all my Wild collection but still don't mess with its ladder.
I believe that with 2~3 more Standard rotations we'll start to see some Wild meta which enables far different stuff from what we see in Standard. Naga Giant is a start, even though I see some people complaining about it.
Can't wait to put my Naxx stuff back to play. Great times!

Meh my problem with Wild is those VERY cards that you love I CANT STAND and am glad to be rid of! Broken cards like Dr. Boom, Sylvanas, Reno etc.

I've been playing Wild almost exclusively since it came out and I'm loving it.
