Over the past month or so, I've completed a 180-degree transformation. "Ehhhh, I'm hesitant to craft Wild cards" has become "who plays Standard?" Who is that first guy? To hell with that guy; he doesn't know what he's talking about lol ;D
Dragon Mage, Paladin and Priest with Blackrock Mountain, Wild Demonlock with Bloodreaver Gul'dan and Mal'Ganis, Enrage Warrior with Axe Flingers; Wild is the most fun I've had with Hearthstone in a long time. I've busted out old cards I've missed like Darkbomb. Made new ones I should've considered ages ago, like Sludge Belcher. I'm considering revisiting Mechs with a N'Zoth Deathrattle Rogue, reviving Piloted Shredders, Piloted Sky Golems and the like. I'm riding pretty high right now.
If you have rotated cards you've been neglecting - like I was - you're missing out! If you're worried about next year's rotation, and "losing" your cards, throw those fears in the trash! If you feel like you've been bogged down with Standard, come with me: take the plunge, and embrace Wild! Cut the cord!
Behold, foolish interlopers! I am commanding this mortal to spread the will of the Scourge throughout the interwebs, encouraging you to seek out me, Archlich Kel'Thuzad! Now coming to you as the tenth class of Hearthstone!
I am a finalist in this Class Creation Competition, so if you could give it a look I would be greatly appreciative <3
It's a weird 180 playing Magic and then this game. In Magic, the budget players buy up used cards and only play Modern or Vintage (the Wild equivalents), but in Hearthstone, you have to shell out tons of dust (or just money now that you can buy Wild sets again) for Wild cards.
I'm a free to play budget player for now. So Wild offers me next to nothing. When I have cards that rotate out, or can afford to just buy stuff out of Wild... Hell yeah. More toys is more toys.
Also I would have upvoted your post even if I disagreed with it because you posted that song. =D

It's right where my brain went when I started down this train of thought:
"I'm having so much more fun now that I bought BRM, and crafted Mal'Ganis. Definitely don't regret these purchases. Way more fun than Standard. Why am I still playing Standard, then? I've been worried about buying Whisper packs, and losing my One Night in Karazhan adventure. I could just move to Wild; they'll still be there after the change. And now I can use my Mechs again; God I miss GvG. Maybe I should just cut ties with Standard..."

Yeah i've been thinking about the same thing but i started playing HS since whispers release and i don't have a wild collection at all given the fact i DE almost every common and rare cards i had from LoE, Brm and TgT(what an idiot I am, right). All i have from wild cards are reno, bran and thaurissan. But now i've started to play some of the heroics from the adventures and i find myself in need for some of the old cards so i crafted the belchers, piloted shreders, deathlords for now, i even considered crafting Kel'Thuzad but 1600 dust hurts for just one card that i might not play in a very long time. Maybe one day tho i'll expand my wild collection to a point where i'll be able to make a decent deck. Thought about purchasing some of the old sets now that they are available but i think i've spend enough money on HS at this moment to continue the spending spree. On a side note i played wild with a friend on his acc cos he's been playing since beta and has a big wild collection and it was tons of fun it really is a whole new lvl of the game, you see all the crazy shit happening and you are just "wow, is this Hearthstone i'm playing?". Probably one day, if i don't quit till than.
EDIT: Troggs in a tunnel as well, more Hearthstone references.
Hehe, nice :)

I haven't been playing much but Wild was great since it was introduced. I always had much more fun there than standard. You saw a more diverse pool of decks and even if not, you get to play some pretty insane decks with ridiculous combos that occur frequently. As someone has mentioned in this thread, it blows my mind some people disenchanted their wild collection. I'm sure they had their reasons (Tournament play?), but it seems for an average player, you would have loads more fun in wild than standard.
Wild can certainly be more diverse and opens up more deck building possibilities, but it's beyond broken, and I'm seeing way more Standard decks lately. If Blizzard cared about the format, they'd fix some of the oppressive cards that will forever remain in the game.
I had some quests to complete today so I played a few games on ladder. At Rank 19 it was Jade Druid, Pirate Warrior, N'zoth Priest, and a Mill Rogue.

I really shouldn't be commenting since I don't know what the meta looks like, but that sounds about right. In fact you answered one of your own issues. At rank 19, you're facing people that are coming out of the ladder floor. These are people who are in rank 10-5 in standard that don't want to lose that position and Casual is standard 2.0. So what do they do? Play those same Standard decks in low rank Wild since everyone there is either doing the same or playing absolute trash f2p day 1 decks. Sprinkle in some legit wild decks in there, but who cares about 1 or 2 losses compared to dropping a whole rank in standard.
Now, if you are talking about higher ranks, then isn't that a problem with Standard power level? But I do agree that at certain points of the meta in wild, there were some extremely powerful decks that everyone and their mom played. I still had a blast trying to beat them with some cool wild deck, netdeck or not.
Let's disenchant all my cards for 1/4 or less dust value to craft cards that will rotate out in 2 years!
"That was a mistake"
No mistake here. I'd rather have the dust to create some new cards I actually want and like to play for two years than play the same broken cards forever and ever. At some point, doesn't Wild just get stale? Every mana slot has a "best option".

It's not like you can't play Standard cards in Wild... Sure there are some cards that see more play than others, like Sludge Belcher but I'd rather see that card over and over than have to play some garbage 5 drop, but it certainly less stale than Standard.... I mean, both formats are infested with Highlander Priests but at least in Wild you have several tools to counter them....
Well... Standard failed miserably at it was set out to do tbh.
"The cards we add have no impact if we don't rotate the sets. Wild is where you play crazy combos and unbalanced things. Standard you can play decks without churning out thousands of dust to compete. It's better for new players with a smaller collection. Things are always fresh and new cards have a strong impact on every release!"
Yeah, right.
Wild has the best neutral cards, especially commons and rares because of GvG and Narxx so you can play a budget deck that is also very strong there. So it's actually more newbie friendly,
Wild doesn't rotate so it's even better for new players as all investment they make will be forever there, in standard a new player can take 2 years to make a decent collection and then just lose half of it because of rotation, so crafting cards becomes hard to justify and frustrating.
Wild has best tools to react to stuff and play what you want, whereas Standard is always missing tools for classes because of rotations so it broken decks are much more likely to happen and harder to counter.
The best decks in Wild (at least before naga change) were precisely the same top tier decks in Standard. Which means that they power crept the card releases so much that having older and stronger tools from wild makes no difference. All thanks to Jade/Gadgetzan
It also means that Wild is always fresh and different too though, as new decks are also strong in the format.
To a lesser extent what the pros wanted for wild (but I don't, I always thought it was stupid) as it being a place where older decks would exist forever and you could always go back to it and play those legacy decks... well, that's not a thing anymore. Nerfs to basic and classic cards are always happening and therefore no old deck will be the same even if the combo is not butchered the power level of the class cards is changed.
---
Anyway, I play a bit of each format, but Standard was a complete failure in my eyes and did nothing to help the game. It only reduced deck diversity and made for some pretty broken metas time and time again. It also makes some classes so freaking weak after a rotation that I can't even understand why they let it happen.
Just look at Shaman cards. What they will lose April next year and what they will be left with.
No Devolve, Evolve, Jade, Pirates, Weapons, etc... The class will be dead, same with hunter. If they don't give 1 and 2 drops for these classes and warrior every single year they just will suck. So set releases now need to focus on always covering basic-set weaknesses instead of adding new archetypes.
Pros are also learning to enjoy wild more. As we see the same problems with the game year after year (because frankly the way class cards are distributed is flawed) people will get sick of the same thing again and again and move to wild or leave.
Well... Standard failed miserably at it was set out to do tbh.

Yeah...
Honestly, I feel like taking away the Wild packs/Adventures for a time only to have them reappear in the out-of-client store was rude and a little mean. If I want to spend my gold on Wild stuff, isn't that my right? GvG packs used to cost gold; if I want to wallow in the old stuff as an older player, or I want to see what yesteryear was like as a newer player, I should be allowed to spend my gold in that manner. Now you absolutely have to spend money on these old packs...and they're full price. Umm...excuse me? The excuse that was given - "it would clutter the store's UI", or whatever - left a bad taste in my mouth, as well.
*sigh* All well. This isn't supposed to be a salt thread; it's an upbeat "come join us in Wild!" thread :)

Yup! Until now, they could basically have skipped the whole standard-thing all together, there are very few standard archetypes that are only viable there, and even in Wild, some previously cancerous OP decks like secret paladin are smashed by modern standard-only decks.
This just has to change in the future. Standard decks must be toned down significantly to give space for more meaningful rotations. I honestly dont see it happen, though, as it would mean releasing a whole year of meaningless expansions.
Eventually, Wild should get stale too, with a few highly refined superdecks countering eachother, or batteling who can draw insane openers or combos.

The majority of wild decks will never be refined because there's no professionals playing wild. You need someone with both deckbuilding knowledge and a large following to copy their decks for this to happen
On an unrelated note, this amusingly is the first time in a long time I've stopped playing wild mode over standard. I'm totally fine fighting pirate warriors, but big priest and naga giant decks? No thanks

Turn 6 Sylvanas Windrunner
Turn 7 Dr. Boom
Turn 8 Ragnaros the Firelord
Gotta be lying if I'd say I don't like wild...

I have a Silver Hand Paladin in Wild which is pretty fun to play (and I guess it's frustrating to play against).
I think the only Wild cards it has are Muster and Minibot, but they are necessary, so I have to play it in Wild.

Legend with : S65 Freeze Mage, S57 Maly Gonk Druid, S57 "Okay" Shaman, S53 Boom-zooka Hunter, S53 Maly Tog Druid, S52 Wild Tog Druid ft.Blingtron, S50 Quest Rogue, S49 Dead Man's Warrior, S41 Wild Clown Fiesta Druid, S41 Hadronox Jade Druid, S40 Wild OTK Dragon Druid, S35 SMOrc Shaman, S33 Jade Druid, S22 Control Priest, S19 Control Priest
Plus you have some time for a nap whenever you face quest priest!
No but seriously: every time I play wild I face one of the following:
1. A deck using cards that I do NOT miss (mad scientist, shredder)
2. Incredibly boring decks that take an hour to finish (best example by far is quest priest)
3. Hyperaggro (druid, warrior)
4. Waaaay too greedy decks that would instantly lose to any aggro deck (Do you WANT people to play aggro or sth?)
Edit: Oh yeah, and 5. Top-tier netdecked standard decks (go to standard ffs)
Fuck cubelock
