Here's an idea for a unique, yet far more strategic brawl rule:
When playing a minion, a random spell is cast; same as the current brawl.
The cost of the random spell will be equal to the number of minions on the board. (not counting the minion being played)
If no spell exists for the given minion count, no spell is cast.
Knowing the availability of spells at each mana point, players would be able to target particular spell groups by selectively trading to manage the minion count.
Man predenting that you disconnected and waiting for last moment with nozdromu is so fun when servers are lagging.
Next game was pretty rage inducting, opponent hit my 10/9 kezan mistic (buff from don han cho) with polymorph boar while there was 6 targets on the board then renouce darkness into warrior hero into justicar for tank up hero power, few turns later he heals himself with reno jackson from prince malchezaar while having 15 cards left, truly soul crushing.
This is the stupidest brawl ever. I just cannot win. Just insane luck for my opponent every time.

This brawl would be better if the spell cast matched the cost of the minion. I just lost to a turn 3 Call of the Wild...

I think that's more math than most players want to do for a casual brawl.
Could also be restricted to class spells instead of all spells.
But. Meh. Not that much more strategy except less stupid crap would happen at the start of the game, it'd just all be moonfires.

Seems the developers are good at creating cancer
Before 12 EST this was a pretty annoying and awful brawl. After that it became much much more fun.

Why would they ever make a brawl this RNG dependant? Every spell went against my minions even my own...
Has anyone noticed how polarized winrates are with regard to coin?
Going 1st is MUCH more advantageous than normal.
