Inb4 "never craft cards day one because you should wait for the meta to settle." You're right but most people will want to craft and play new decks and have fun during the most creative stage of the meta rather than wait one week.
I'm crafting Zephrys the Great, Siamat, and Dinotamer Brann for a day one highlander hunter. If it doesn't turn out good, Brann and Zephrys would go into my wild reno hunter anyway, and Siamat is almost certaintly safe in any case. Then I'd consider Dark Pharaoh Tekahn and Corrupt the Waters as cards the most likely to make it into meta decks. The rest I'd wait out a week.
I would not say any-duplicate legendaries are a must. Because of bombs. But I would say siamat is a pretty save craft. Also druid quest and priest Quest are save i guess.
One first world problem I have is needing to craft the legendary cards I want golden before opening packs. Really wish they'd implement a limited use upgrade button to change cards golden where you pay dust difference between normal and golden. I.e. 1600 for legendary. Wouldn't appeal to everyone but most of us have a few cards we wished we'd gotten golden. Would be a nice touch from blizzard
I actually want to play all the classes for the very first time after I saw the expansion. So I'll try to collect many good cards for each class from this expansion and others, as well as legendaries. So.., I'll have to spend way alot into the game if I want to enjoy all the classes in both standard and wild format.
But here is one thing I'll craft: Call me crazy experimenter... because I'm going to try out Hack the System. it won't fit warrior a lot, but it grants the class new playstyle, and I love it.
It's gonna work great with additional weapons in wild format, I don't know what plan I'll make, but it's gonna be great getting those 4/3 minions on the board.
I have around 25k dust My first craft will be Bazaar Burglary I don't really care if thief rogue thief is good or bad that is the only fkn deck I enjoy playing.
Normally I would go for Zephrys the Great but it is not solely enough to play no duplicate deck only Sir Finley of the Sands and Dinotamer Brann makes it worthy and I am not really fan of paladin. if they would give some worth warlock cards I would directly craft it. tho if I get one of those cards from packs I will craft Zephrys but If I don't get I will wait. I don't want to craft two legendary cards for possible niche decks.
Other than that I am interested in upcoming mage decks so I might craft some neutral legendaries but I will not rush.
Siamat and Zephyrs, although I’m not confident any Singleton deck will be good in standard, but he’s such a sweet design. I guess Reno Lock will play him in Wild.
I don’t think there is any logical reasoning behind Spending dust on cards that haven’t been proven powerful on day one.
I would recommend saving your dust till the meta has (at least somewhat) established itself and experiment with the cards you get from packs.
in terms of what cards I believe will be deemed most powerful (and if you are looking to drop dust on the first day these I would assume would be the most safe to craft), I would say the best would be Activate the Obelisk because it doesn’t require a deck to be built around it and it will be easy to activate with circle of healing. Vassina inspires a new token, overload shaman which I think is deceptively powerful as easy board flooding spells and minions that overload followed by Vassina can be game ending. It a recurring bloodlust on a body which forces the opened to deal with it immediately. Dark Pharaoh Tekahn will inspire new lackey based zoo decks which I’m not looking forward to dealing which (plus this card on curve is op af). Finally, Armagedillo is obviously a powerful add to any warrior deck that runs taunts (not to say that that deck may not come to play with bomb warrior already being so powerful)
As for the reason there is not singleton cards on here, It is hard to tell wether that type of deck will be powerful with the lack of playable cards in the last few expansions but don’t get me wrong, if they turn out to be powerful, this list will surely change.

Well I think the logical reason would be (1) the person has enough dust that crafting suboptimal legendaries wouldn't hurt them too much and (2)they really want to partake in the day one meta with a certain deck. It might take a week or more for the meta to settle, but day one meta is still by far the most fun of the meta formation period.

Topic title says: Day one "safe" crafts?
OP's question is: What will be your day one crafts?
Im pretty sure its not the same, at least for me.
Anyways, my choices will be:
Armagedillo because I want to try a deck that doesnt build itself unlike the new quest-themed ones.
Bloodsworn Mercenary because it seems like the strongest card from the new set and Im looking forward to abuse it.
Plague of Murlocs because Buck Pig Friest in wild.
Edited the title, you're 100% right.
Armagedillo is probably something I'd also craft tbh, the flavour is awesome and the deck sounds fun to build and optimize.

I like elementals and totems.

Siamat for sure

If it would have life steal option I would directly craft it. But it doesn't worth in this state.
My day one craft? Nothing.
Crafting all quests i dont get day1, got 4/9 atm.
Colossus of the Moon for my Duel! Paladin.
Corrupt the Waters for sure ! I've been playing "battlecry" shaman since dopplegangster evolve combo and always loved the deck.
Corrupt the waters, warlock quest aechology, and king pharosis are day one craft for me
Mage Quest and Yog's puzzlebox, for I plan on making a wild deck all around spell generation
On my List are the following legendaries:
1. Untapped Potential - Because I almost have all required cards for the deck
2. Corrupt the Waters + Vessina - Because i want to have the full shaman collection, and i guess they are both good.
3. Octosari - Because i have the other good neutral legendaries already

Golden Unseal the Vault, Making Mummies, Untapped Potential
