I think it might be fun but it's hard to find an actual event where I live (but I believe there are considerable number of players), so I am considering of doing one. So do anyone have actual experience of hosting/joining? Have any tips?
No experience of hosting one, but me and my wife went to our first Fireside Tavern Event yesterday. It was held in a small town just a few kilometers away from our home. The event took place at the town square and was open air. The city provides a free wi-fi there.
The event was set from 5 to 8 pm. We arrived at 6:30 and thought, that the event was canceled or something, because at first, it looked like as if no one was there (I guess we didn't really know what to expect and what to look for). We took our tablets, logged into the wi-fi there and started up hearthstone. The corner icon showed the fireside icon and that there are around 22 people logged in. We looked around and finally found a small group of people (5-6) sitting on benches in a corner of the square constantly looking down on something. We went over and they were playing hearthstone. We instantly connected with them and started talking about hearthstone, how to get the warlock skin and stuff like that. It was really nice.
The group started growing as more people showed up. Some of them drove around 150 kilometers (around 90 miles) to get to the event. At 7 pm there were around 15 people there standing together with their phones, tablets or even laptops. 70% guys, 30% girls, all aged between 20 and 40. We played some duels and brawls until everyone had their warlock skin and the cardback.
It was a pretty nice experience and me and my wife went home actively thinking about hosting our own gathering ... but this time in an actual tavern/bar or something, because it was dark and cold and the wi-fi dropped out from time to time.
Yes, the WiFi is key! It should be able to handle a small to large group of people simultaneously logging in with their devices. It’s not necessary to have a gigabit connection, but a decent up and downstream with a stable connection is recommended. That’s the main and most depending factor for the event.
Another thing is the power situation. Some people ran into low batteries after some time. The town square was not ideal for that matter, since there were no direct ways there to charge your devices. Some left early, when the ran out of power, but might have stayed longer if the were able to charge.
I also don't have experience hosting a gathering but went to one about half a year ago. It was lots of fun meeting other players and talk about hearthstone. It was also my first experience participating in a tournament (was best of 5 conquest) which was lots of fun and something I'd like to do more often. Sadly, the tavern was a bit too far away for me to go there frequently. But now that there is focus on Nemsy, there seems to be more gatherings popping up and I just found a new one close to me that I'll visit on Monday. Looking forward to meeting Hearthstone players closer to me, getting Nemsy (she's so cute! only met her once in a match so far) and trying out the fireside brawl format.
I hope you go through with organizing a gathering in your area. At least I think it's a great idea :)

Thats really interesting, thankyou for sharing! Looks like wifi connection is something to take care about when choosing venue

Thankyou for your encouragement. I also sees more fireside pops up after nemsy announcement. May you have fun community too!
