You know what? I think the meta is more based on what people think what everyone is playing, then actually what is everyone is playing.
All this because of TempoStorm. I hate that site. People take that Meta Snapshot too seriously. I get it, the problem is people, not the website, I know...
People go there, see the Tiers and netdeck one of them and keep playing, like a BUNCH of people. In the end, it becomes a meta snapshot because people keep copying what is there.
Handlock is a good case, I've been facing a lot of them lately. I can't stop thinking to myself: somebody decided to bring Handlock again, dumped it on TempoStorm and in 2 weeks, Handlock will be 20% of the matches on ladder.
This is ridiculous.

Always Squelch.
"Every time you beat an aggro deck, you make the world a better place". Kripp 2015
Too many decks pound your face in before you can get any board presence, especially if you don't pull an early Molten or any form of board clear.
Ohh cmon, thats a typical explanation by someone who doesn't know how to play the deck. The deck is strong in the right hands, its bad in the wrong hands. Heck there were a lot of handlock players before LoE, what changed since LoE? Oh Reno came. And everyone turned to what seemes like a better deck, abandoning the superior deck. Did amount of aggro increased with LoE? Hell no, it diminished, face hunter became one of the worst decks, because of reno. Some don't realize how handlock is in the meta with Patrons comeback, amount of Zoo, control priests, control warriors, tempo mages, its even good against druid and secret palas, destroys murloc paladin badly, and great against many other decks, but yeah its a tier 3 deck according to tempostorm as stated by Borz so therefore not popular. I'm rank 3 with demon handlock already without playing much this month.
I had decent success throught the last 6 or 7 seasons.
Did not grind as I used to do like during Summer 2015... (and before) but still... Handlock / Renolock / DemonHandlock has been 75 % of the ranked I played.
The fact that TGT didn't brought the Control Warlock archetype new cards... combined with the lack of knowledge of what's coming out from Old Gods... it's quite debatable how hard of a comeback such a deck would make.
With time, Handlock had teched a solid array of 5-mana drops (Belcher, Loatheb, Healbot... Doomguard in Demon version).
All these cards are rotating eout of the format which will mean we'll have to think deeper about what possible 5-mana (or around) could help this deck.
How is Zombie Chow going to get replaced (accordingly to the fact that this role would seek some new contender... maybe Gagztezan Jouster... or I don't know).
How will Warlock react to the C'thun flavor. They are paired with the perfect hero power for a Control deck.
Still... Warlock has decent way to make Handlock works still.
People are playing renolock instead yesterday I was sure I was playing versus a renolock then.. 2 molten giants with taunt.. oh well...
I would try to play handlock if I had jaraxxus and the giants.. I think that's the bigger reason.. decks are less aggressive than they have been before LOE they are more tempo oriented than anything.
I am looking forward to seeing what sort of cards are in WOG that will shape the future of Handlock in Standard. Clearly Zoolock will be altered, but Handlock seems like it will always be strong.

Will Earthen Ring Farseer be the staple for healing ?

They have AoE, 4 Giants, Twilight Drake, taunters.
Will Ancient Watcher still be reliable enough ? Should Eerie Statue be the sleeper OP
Used to be a proud Handlock player.
Legend 17 times.
Still flirting with the ladder from times to times with Renolock.
