I wanted to ask for over opinions on the topic of the current state of the Shamen class. Most of you probably know how the class has been on a decline ever since One Night in Karazhan (a decline that is well deserved considering how it dominated that meta) however, the Shaman class isn't what you would call "playable" right now. It's pretty much the Priest of 2016 in 2017 (it's interesting when you consider that Priest is on top now).
If we are all honest for a moment, we all know why the Shamanclass is this bad currently, especially when we think about Freeze Shaman.I mean it was a funny meme at the time but it highlights a problem in Blizzard's card design. They haven't been getting a clear theme to follow, unlike the other classes. We got a bit of Murlocs followed up by not enough support, we got a bit of Elementals followed up by not enough support, we got an entire expansion with a weak theme that sports horribly underpowered cards that didn't even get any support this expansion and now we got Totems. Will there be enough support for any of these themes in the future? Hopefully but that's where I'de like to hear your opinions. Is this healthy for the game or not?
(I'de also like to add that if you see errors in my use of English that make you cringe or upset, I'm sorry and I hope you can look over them as it's not my first language and I'm still learning it.)
I indeed see some errors in your post, but as long as they are not that obviously painful, it's okay.
I don't think it's all about support from blizzard towards archetypes. Creators just don't know how to make a decent identity of shaman, thus failing at making fitting cards. They are experimenting with it. Not a healthy approach, but that's how they do it. I reckon they will eventually stop when players create a decent deck, then they will try to support it... or kill it.
Well, speaking as a guy who crafted both Kalimos, Primal Lord AND Grumble, Worldshaker I can say that right now shaman is playable (albeit without any meta breaking success) in a Jade/Battlecry variant, which of course accomodates Grumble, however elementals suck, unfortunately. Still, I wouldn't worry that much about the class, it got some really nice cards this year, and I actually think that Grumble, and even The Runespear could get some serious support next year, and if they do, shaman may very well become a tier 1 class again.
Blizzard has made a lot of themes work by just pushing them (like Purify Priest). They could easily print good cards, but Blizzard just prints overpowered cards for classes they want to push, that's how it seems to me at least. Also, it's hard to make decent decks when your class cards can't compete with those of other classes.

Of course, they have decent cards however, Blizzard started printing objectively overpowered cards to push classes( just look at priests or warlocks) and therefore decent is no longer good enough.
Probably if shaman is going to have any success in standard, its going to involve (insert pirate card here) and Patches. Seriously I have seen every single class in this expansion except for priest run patches.
The expansion was not underpowered, its the fact that the only cards that make a real impact in constructed are broken cards. The powercreep in hearthstone has been growing steadily and I guess releasing a broken set would help more new cards get played, but would that actually be healthy for the game? The game will probably improve once MSOG rotates out.

I can assure you that there are Priest lists that run patches.
Classes like shaman, priest and warlock that are so dependent on expansions will always be feast or famine. They can't just give Superior cards to these classes every expansion to make up for bad evergreen tools, so they will always either be dominating or totally unplayable.
Blizzard seems to be thinking that nerfing all the good evergreens will fix this, but it's just going to create more classes that have no real identity and whose success relies on getting some broken gimmick every expansion
Isn't it ironic how the only class that has something to do with Elementals, didn't get a viable Elemental deck? xD (Im talking about the actual class and the lore behind it, not hearthstone as a game, shamen are pretty much the priests of the elementals as far as lore is concerned.) I mean sure, they got Kalimos but I've never played against a constructed elemental shammy, ever. Kalimos is always pulled through Servant of Kalimos, never actually included in the deck. To me it feels like mage DK and shaman DK should have switched positions, honestly. Shaman is the elemental guy and mage has always been the "pull some rng card outta my @$$". But their DKs switch their roles haha. Shaman even got (or at least they filled packs with) a freeze archetype.... A FREEZE ARCHETYPE, literally a mage spec tree.... Imagine if Paladin got the rogue one, to me it feels that weird. I know it makes sense in the game bcause mage already had a strong elemental deck and Blizzard had already decided that for the next year, all shaman would get was some rng evolve bullshit but still, it feels like a very crappy design.
I kinda agree, but Elementals aren't that good in general. Those that see play are just strong cards on their own. Blizzard probably didn't want to give a Jade class like shaman another strong mid-range "package". Jades ruin everything.

There's a new aggro shaman on the rise, you'll see it soon enough, don't worry.

Just go play Wild, Shaman has tons of options there. Aggro, token, totem, control, nzoth, malygos, etc.

I have a dream that one day my class will not be judged by the color of it's skin but by the randomness of it's hero power!

I will regret about this. But give a chance to Aggro shaman.
Greetings, traveler.
Let's make Hunter great.
