Tempo rogue specifically is really solid against mages. Having cheap minions against mirror entity and less spells against counterspell really works well. Not to mention the deck is much faster than expected.
Also just running Cold Blood and southsea deckhand can work wonders - making the game clock significantly faster and more in your favor.
I would advise against running eater of secrets in any rogue deck. There are always much better options unless 35%+ of your games are against mages.

Is it? I play a fair bit of freeze, and tempo rogue seems very easy. I'm only R10, so maybe the rogue players are shit.

Honestly it might be deck list variance. A lot of different tempo lists are floating around and some can be pretty inconsistent. I've been working with the archetype all season and the best list I've made has gotten me to rank 3 so far and has performed really well against mages. Though I play against far more secret then I do against freeze.

Yeah, that makes sense... I think freeze would get a lot more clears and cycle, so easier to outvalue with.
Tempo-rogue is a cool deck though, I wish more fast decks were like that these days.
The games are always the same, I get early advantage, mage play minions get secrets/random spells, clear board, play Alex, I pop up 2 Ice Blocks and mage player burn my face, I lost many, many games without suffer a minion damage once, the lack of neutral healing is killing the class, play the boring quest deck or lose... :(

Eater of Secrets their Ice Blocks, preferably the turn you can kill him by destroying the Block. It's usually a bad idea to destroy the secrets before that, the Mage will just use another Block and you are on the same spot as before using Eater of Secrets, except they only have 1 extra turn, not 2.
The problem is Eater Of Secrets is a crap card when your opponent don't have secrets, the new crab is not so terrible when opponent don't have pirates, to put this card in deck mage need to be a least 50% of the matchs, is something around 20% of the matchs...

Well, then you just have to accept that Mage is a really unfavoured matchup and you will lose to it the majority of the times. The thread asked how to beat Mages, which has always been a bad matchup for Rogues. There is only one way to give yourself an unfair advantage over Mages, and that is with Tech Cards. Obviously, you decide if you want to use Tech Cards or not, but if you decide not to, you have to accept that you will lose most Mage games, since they are very favoured against you.
Cursed mages, they don't get the numbers to tech be a good idea and don't disappear for good. :D
I've been playing Water Rogue and put in an Eater of Secrects in place of one Undercity Huckster. My last 3 games against Mage I have won due to dropping EoS. Makes this game very, very enjoyable

It is only me or rogue don't have any chance or hope vs mage in standard?
Any sugestion? I try a lot of things, only the quest I don't try because I don't have the card.

A huge Edwin VanCleef and huge Questing Adventurers , an early Sherazin, Corpse Flower added to the mix to keep reviving it.
The 1st step towards a better game is firing Mike Donais! We had enough of his "skillful" balances!

Play smart, play fast and use ice block whenever you can.
Dead but dreaming
