Is Xaril, Poisoned Mind worth the 1,600 dust? I need to get Rogue to gold portrait status. He seems to be good, but I would like some objective opinions.
Honestly, I want to say it's good because it's such a neat card but I've never encountered a game where Rogue plays this and I lose. Generally, it's a weak body that gets traded into easily. The toxins have little to no impact unless you're going for some Brann + stealth shenanigans. It might fit the niche in some deathrattle decks, but only craft it if you have the extra dust laying around.
After messing around a bit more, it's actually worth it and mostly for combo decks. It's just as expected in them. Whateverr poison you get (in Miracle at least) is really helpful.
It is the most versatile class legendary as far as the expansion goes, perhaps the most versatile in the whole set. If you care about playing a variety of Rogue decks then I would definitely grab him.
As far as the Rogue Legendaries, none of them are "required" but they definitely enhance whichever deck they are in. Xaril will see the most play out of them all and is going to be the face of Rogue for the next 2 years (in standard).

Thanks!
I think Xaril is so good that not only do I have one of him in my deck, I play 2 x Journey Below because there is a very good chance you will get another one from it. Really awesome card, but your mileage may vary depending on your Rogue archtype..
Is Xaril too slow for a deathrattle rogue deck? I feel like you want minions who have more board impact. What are people's opinions?
My opinion so far is that he's not so good in a deathrattle deck. His small body makes it difficult to trade and he's often low impact compared to other cards. You must be winning on board, when you play him. He's great in a combo deck though.

He has won me a several games in Maly rogue and Miracle. Usually through enabling me to cycle enough to reach that cold blood, eviscerate or sinister strike that i need for lethal, but other times being able to stealth my Gadgetzan or Malygos to set up lethal next turn. There have been a few more niche win conditions too such as bouncing back SI:7 and using the battlecry to clear a taunt or using the 2 dmg card for face lethal or for efficient trades so minions can go face.
I guess you could do without, but I find it a great addition to my decks (maly and deathrattle). Mostly in Malyrogue though, here it comes in very helpful in many ways.
But indeed, if you do not have Edwin or are missing some epics, I would craft those first.
Any card that adds cards to your hand is OP. This one adds buffs, nukes, draws and shadow steps X2.. and you ask if its worth it? Im disappointed in the quality of this thread.

I think he really meant "add cards to your hand", not "make you draw a card". And I don't know from where you put Anub'arak in this category... He bounces himself back in your hand, not make you draw a card.
He's awesome in combo decks. All of the toxins are adaptable to many situations, and serve as combo starters. The 3/2 body is also a nice bonus to help clear out the board or do a little extra damage.
He's probably a bad choice for tempo builds though.
Rogue decks that use Auctioneers are probably the strongest right now amongst rogue decks. I've always liked Miracle myself, so Xaril craft was a no-brainer for me, and it works very well.

The Toxin cards are great and at 1 mana can be used to proc combos or draw cards if you are playing a miracle style deck.

If you love playing rogue then yes definitely. If you just think it's cool i would wait
Yes, he's worth it. Easily the best class legendary.

Versatile but difficult to use optimally.

Xaril actually only costs 100 dust to craft, because he shows up every time when you cast Journey Below.

I'm 58% off from the truth. 42% of the time, you see Xaril.
