I have copied the #1 rated deck. I have used Blizzards ready made decks. I've even tried a C'thun complete deck. I have created my own decks to try and counter this B.S. RNG Blizz is giving me.
I know there will be people who will say, "L2P", but we all know, there is NO ounce of thought required for C'Thun, and Priest is not so difficult that one can't figure out how the class cards interact with the rest of the deck, it's more a matter of Blizzard being extremely nasty to me and I'm feeling singled out. If I load a deck with 25, one, two and three cost cards and only put 5 cards over five cost, Blizzard will only draw the 5+ cost cards on first 5 draws. I throw them back, Blizzard will put the exact same cards in my hand. The one, two and three cost cards wont come out until my opponent has my health to 2 and he's got a full board of amped up cards.
I have tried so many things. I have done the "I got first place in Arena with this deck" thing. None of my cards will come out in the way that I see other Priests get their cards out, interacting all perfect. My draws are always leaving me with ridiculous combinations like "Greater Healing" "Raid Leader" and the Earthen Farseer. So I'll throw them all back, maybe keep Raid Leader and they'll give me more stupid combinations like Cobalt Scalbane and eternal servitude. Nothing interacts and when I finally draw a card that does interact, "give health" or "taunt", whatever was on the board is dead so I can't use it.
I feel like Blizzard is fucking with me and I'm not even a full on F2P player. I have actually bought cards for the only reason of trying to change my "R"ng. I feel like they are pissed off if ever I win so the punishment is 10 times as harsh.
Even Glimmerroot is fail for me. I literally sit there and watch my opponent on his 0, 0, 0, 0 and 1 cards yet I have never once had Glimmerroot show me ANY of the cards that I know my opponent had in his starting hand.
I really want to play. I played WoW for almost 10 years, finally got off that and am trying to stay away from the time suck games and Hearthstone seems to be a nice alternative but I almost feel like Blizzard is punishing me for not paying their $50 xpac and $15.99 per month fee's in exchange for F2P with an occasional $2.99 for a deck.
First of all, if you’re getting on a losing streak, then stop for a bit. If you start getting mad about it then you’ll start losing more and more. Other than that, maybe try watching streamers. Always the chance that you might be making weird plays when there are way better ones.
The feeling sucks, but it happens to everyone. We all go on lose streaks and win streaks. Keep at it and if a deck type feels frustrating them don't play it. You have to play what you like and you'll surely win. I hate playing aggro because I feeling like I'm always losing to board clears. They always seem to have thalnos spirit lash or spell power totem maelstrom when I play living Mana so I don't enjoy that play style. On the other hand I like control style decks like Reno priest where it feels like I'm in control so I got good at it by playing it a lot. If a deck style frustrates you, you won't get good at it. Play something you like.
And btw guessing glimmerroot wrong has nothing to do with rng:) that one is your bad:)
Hang in there. As some others said you might just need to take a break for a day or so. I've had multiple day losing streaks. What worked for me in the beginning wasn't pulling the top tier decks. Sometimes those are actually a little difficult to use for a new player. There are some good deck configs that use only basic cards as well so its not always about spending money.
Regarding Curious Glimmeroot, you mentioned needing to choose a card that is in their starting hand, but the card actually asks you choose a card thats in their deck. Just making sure you didn't miss that distinction. I also had heard a tip on glimmeroot before, that generally the right card is of a lower rarity. But that's one I mess up a lot as well.
Anyway good luck! It will level out eventually. The key is to think about everything you do carefully and try to learn from mistakes. I find that I play better when i talk out all possible outcomes and plays. Makes it somewhat real-er and gives me a chance to think about it a bit more.
I felt the same way when WoW lagged at critical moments...was it really random?
But of course it is, Ive played HS for a long time and I’ve noticed that my rank doesn’t change because I use top tier or theorycraft decks (take that with a grain of salt..obviously some decks are better, hence the tier system). The main point is that the player is the one who makes misplays or clutch combos and ultimately gets better at the game. And beyond all that, it’s a card game so we’re already in for some RNG.
just keep doing what you’re doing, use the #1 decks, hell, spend a couple bucks if it’s a deck you enjoy. But keep in mind, laddering takes a long time, after all, there are plenty of kelseth rogues with a perfect deck and bad instincts stuck at rank 20..
I would say learn what cards do and what cards are good. For instance, glimmerroot is "started in your opponents DECK" not hand. Generally it is quite easy to guess since every class has its auto includes. You shouldn't run bad cards like raid leader, especially not in a deck with greater healing potion. One of those cards is for control decks, the only one is just bad.
It seems like you're trying to make a deck that didn't for priests identity. Earthen Ring Farseer is more of a control card which also doesn't for your deck archetype. I would look into playing hunter, it is very F2P friendly and uses mostly basic/classic cards and only a few expansion cards with Deathstalker Rexxar being the only non common/rare
At first I was just going to say keep trying and you'll get over the bad luck spell, because we all get them. But then I read a few things:
1. If you have a deck of 25 1/2/3 Mana cards and 5 of 5+ Mana, and you get only 5+ Mana cards in the Mulligan, it is Mathematically and Mechanically impossible for you to get exactly the same cards. When you throw away your hand, you will never get those cards back, you always get different ones, so you are BSing.
2. What #1 Deck are you using if you say that you have Raid Leader in your deck, which is a card that is not used in any deck above Tier 3000 decks?
3. Your issue with Glimmerroot which tells us that you actually do need to learn to play. Glimmerroot is not supposed to show you cards that were in the opponent stating hand. It will show you 1 card from the opponents deck, the entire deck, it can be a card he already played and it can be a card he still has in his deck. This card should only be played if you actually have good knowledge of the game and the Meta. If you throw this card in your deck without know the Meta and the decklists that people are using, you will never pick the correct card unless you get lucky. As such, you should remove this card from your deck and practice and play the game and this meta enough to the point where you actually know the decklists of the players you are facing. At this point, you can put Glimmerroot back since then you will pick the right card.

This (your post above) seems less helpful and more mean spirited than anything. I'm not sure if it's an ego thing, if you are autistic and don't realize the way your present yourself or if you just are someone who has a pixeled ego that's faux inflated anonymously as you respond with the level of disrespect you've responded with.
#1 It is NOT statistically impossible to get the same cards back. It happens to me all of the time and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person to ever get the same cards back.
#2 What does tier have to do me and no one really cares if Felishia doesn't buckle her pants behind the knee. You can play a cookie cutter net deck and jerk yourself around your bedroom with it all night and it still has nothing to do with anyone but you and your ego.
#3 Decktracker shows you what his draws are by numbering them. As your opponent puts them on the board, the cards become visible. I don't play Glimmerroot until after all 0's and 1's are gone. You're telling people not to play specific cards for no other reason than you personally don't approve of them brings us full circle to my opening statement. You are rude and your nonsense is uncalled for.
I came here to ask for assistance, not to be berated by some anonymous punk who has nothing but hatred in his heart. You're just straight up mean.

What kind of the #1 rated deck is using Raid Leader?
I got rank 6 the first week of this month. With my own C'Thun Priest.
Priest requires more skill than any other class which is something you obviously don't have yet.
Your best bet is to play a different, easier class like Hunter or something, learn the ropes of Trading, Resource management, playing around enemy cards, understanding your win condition, learning the intricacies, interactions, combos of cards ect.
Put in the time, play something simple and effect(Not C'Thun Priest), and focus on improving. This game isn't all luck.

I'm at such a loss here.
Add me and I'll spectate a few games. Cygnus#1727
And stop running Raid Leader ;)

While the game can be frustrating sometimes, this discussion is something that should belong in the Salt Thread
