Do you think including two copies of Ebon Dragonsmith in a Pally deck is worth it now, in an effort to get Val'anyr out faster and cheaper?
I am thinking that since the weapon recycles itself with buffs and attack, you want it out before turn 6 if possible. The new dragon seems like a decent enough card. Maybe include 2 x Rallying Blade or 2 x Truesilver too?
It would effectively make Ebon Dragonsmith a conditionally 2 mana 3/4. It seems very optimistic. However, it's worth experimenting with I suppose. Maybe if you could make use of the dragon tag as well.
Maybe in future expansions if Pally gets more dragon love...? The cost reduction wouldn't carry over when you resummon it though (correct?) which makes it not all that great. Also, it speeds up your play by one turn. Maybe it helps give you a tempo play turns 6+. Still, doesn't seem that worth. Would fill deck space for other cards.

It gets automatically equipped the second time, so you only ever pay for the weapon once. 6 mana -> infinite value (As long as you have minions in hand).
its ineffective, since this minion is 4 mana cost and valanyr 6 mana, so you basicaly discounting it for 1 mana if you have no coin, cuz you may play it only turn 5 anyway. And i doubt MR paladin will have free slot in his deck.

I'd be happy to see it work. I love me some Pally decks, but I just think there's better 4-cost cards to include. If anything, I would quote your point back to you. All I have to do is pay 6 one time, then it's infinite value. Why include 2 cards at Pally's most full mana cost just to reduce the cost one time? Not trying to sound snarky. Hope it doesn't come across that way.
Also if you are playing control this isn't too strong, and in murloc paladin its far too slow. I think the meta really needs to slow down for this to work. But with all these new OTK's going around- there may be hope.

Don't worry, you come across as someone making a valid point.
I did not try to make a point about Ebon Dragonsmith though. I agree it does not seem worth running. The mana cost is indeed quite awkward with the many good Paladin cards at 4 mana. Ebon Dragonsmith might have fit better as a 3 cost card, letting you play Val'anyr on turn 4. Even then, I would consider the interaction very optimistic, and still not worth running.
I don't have the card yet, but from what I can tell its only an effective legendary for the Hand-buff deck and still not that defining. Adding yet another required legendary to the list, then two supporting cards seems inefficient.
Sorry, I know your question was on Ebon Dragonsmith but I just haven't seen anything to show this weapon is a feasible. It cant replace Truesilver Champion because turn six is way to late, and there are plenty of weapons being given out with Uther and Tiron.
This weapon would be good however if you didn't have enough legendary's, maybe that's why Blizzard made this card??

Not good
Don't mind me just passing by
I think it’s worth experimenting with. You could also throw that pirate in, who kinda sucks but also applies the discount if it sticks.
I'll throw the package into my curator handbuffadin.

Probably need more weapons and perhaps some dragon synergies as well.
It really depends on what you're trying to do with it and what you're running.

And I would only add the weapon to my deck if I was having any dupe summon cards like Saronite Chain Gang or Doppelgangster
