Hey guys, I've toyed with this idea of adding Garrison Commanders to an Uther of the Ebon Blade deck, as a sort of backup solution in case you didn't draw Auctionmaster Beardo. I also tried to use as few legendaries as possible. The result is this:
Unfortunately, I can't test it myself since I miss (among others) the most important card for such a deck, that is Uther himself :P
But I'm curious to hear what do you think if it. Is the idea worth something, or not (I'm no Pala expert)? How could the list be improved (preferrably without tripling its cost XD)? Is anyone interested in giving a try to this or a similar version, and tell us the results? Not asking to risk on ladder, mind, but even a bit of testing in casual would be great.
If it wilds, why not run powerful cards like Sludge Belcher, Emperor (among others).
Valid point, plenty to choose from. Guess I was influenced part by my desire to keep the cost down (that's for Emperor and other leggies), and part by my own almost non-existent wild collection, making me less used to consider all those cards (that's about the rest).
This is hardly an excuse, so my bad, the deck is most likely not optimized. Though I did ask for suggestions to improve, didn't I? ;)
On the other hand, I've both seen myself and heard about from others, that some mostly-standard decks (with just a couple wild cards) can still do well-ish in Wild, like getting not to Legend but for example to r10, maybe r5. Wonder if this (or something similar) could be one of those?
And anyway what do you think of the core idea, that is Garrison Commanders in an Uther OTK/TTK deck?
If you are using Garrison Commander (I guess 1 copy is enough), it would be a good idea to add in the bouncers such as Youthful Brewmasters as a backup to relying on coins and 1-cost spells.
I think 2 x Garrison Commander is overkill. Running Skulking Geist might not be bad idea since it combo well with the secrets - you can burn them so you draw your exodia pieces faster. Tarim is a pretty cool card, I'd try to fit him in as well.
I tried making a similar deck before. Running both combos actually performs worse than running a single combo with more card draw and Control tools (AoE, heals, etc.).
From my experience, running 1 Garrison Commander is enough, because if you draw the extra one it is a dead card (assuming you have enough card draw. I run 2 copies of Lay on Hands)
If you are running the Garrison Commander combo, I've found that it is better to run Youthful Brewmasters instead of Getaway Kodos. To successfully pull off Getaway Kodo, you need to not have any other minion on board, and you cannot play any other minion on the same turn.
I honestly prefer running two Garrison Commander's and two Youthful Brewmaster's over the auction master and bullies. An opponent would have to be pretty damn stupid to not see what you are up to when you play the bully.
Three of you say 2nd Garrison Commander is too much, while another prefers running 2 of them (but also drops the auctionmaster). Also, point taken about running both combos could be worse than one. Just to explain my thinking, I had imagined that, as you're not guaranteed to draw Beardo in time, the same could be said about a single Commander. Or, that even if you draw and play it, it might not survive for 2 turns, so a 2nd one could sometimes be useful. But I understand that running all of them might be overkill, and will adjust the deck accordingly.
Had considered Youthful Brewmasters, and would have liked to use them (as I wrote in the deck description) but was in a tight spot with card slots. Guess now, going to drop 1 Commander, at least a spot for a Brewmaster will be free.
Skulking Geist... hmm, to be honest I don't like him that much in a deck such as this. I get the idea, mind. But since I'm striving for flexibility I'd prefer to save my secrets and have them as an integration to coins from Bully, for Beardo, rather than burning them.
Getaway Kodo... that's another valid point. Basically, it'd be good only if you have just Horsemen on board, or maybe for early game, before you drop Uther. Guess the count can go down at least by 1.
Burgly Bully might be a giveaway of your plans, yes, but is it really so bad? Meaning, opponent will likely suspect what you're up to but they can't really be sure until Uther. And between T5 and T9 they could need to use a spell or two, even if they preferred not to?
Sunkeeper Tarim is cool, yes, but like for Thaurissan and other legendaries I tried to avoid them, in order to make the deck more budget-friendly :P But if someone has got him, sure, why not?
OK, updated deck, trying to implement (most of) your suggestions. Now it looks like this:
I honestly prefer running two Garrison Commander's and two Youthful Brewmaster's over the auction master and bullies. An opponent would have to be pretty damn stupid to not see what you are up to when you play the bully.
What about when you bounce a token LOL...either way people will know.

Yes they'll know when you bounce a horseman, but using that method can be done regardless of what your opponent does.
With Bully, they'll know whats up and kill it without casting spells so you don't get any coins to use for the combo.
Totally agreed. Unfortunately (or fortunately) êxodia decks aren’t viable for cimbing but awesome when you Want to have fun at rank floors, stealing wins from lazy meta decks

For me, the Garrison Commander combo has been working better for me than the Auctionmaster Beardo combo, because you can't always get Coins from Auctionmaster Beardo.

Wow, so much feedback! Thank you all guys.
Let's go over your points here:

Only thing is, with so many 1-ofs, I'm afraid it could be a little inconsistent... thoughts?
Guys, exodia paladin continues as cool as ever (and totally viable against both aggro and control). Just check my revised deck for K&C Wild meta.
