Aggro Mage was my favorite deck before the mana wyrm nerf. They also nerfed Big Spell mage, which was my second favorite deck. I slowly built my collection and had most of the important Mage legends so I couldn't keep up with the Mage - but after DK Jaina rotated out I had to start all over again. I caved and dusted my Mage legends/epics, and was able to craft good Rank 5+ decks in EVERY other class with the dust.
But I miss playing Mage, and I just don't have the dust to craft all the expensive cards. Even Current Aggro/Freeze mages are half made up of epics cards.
Is there a cheap deck out there anyone has had any luck with?
You shoulnd't have disenchanted your main class just to get playable decks...
Anyway, Wild is the cheapest mode for any long-term player.
Your only requirement to keep up with Wild is to focus your crafting efforts on a limited amount of classes (and once you've made your choice, it's much easier than people think).

I'm going to be brutally honest here -- you may as well quit playing Hearthstone at this point unless you are willing to spend some money.
Addiction to dust is the most unhealthy behavior in Hearthstone. It destroys collections and makes you weaker every time you do it.
If you can make a promise to yourself to stop dusting your cards -- and are able to keep that promise -- you may dig yourself out of the hole you've created. That promise is a lot easier to keep if you buy some packs, but there are a few free players who can handle it.

You never know when an unplayable card will end up becoming a vital part of a new deck.
Mage is also one of the top 4 classes atm, so I'm confused why you decided to dust your main class collection when the class is in no ways in a bad spot right now.
If you main Paladin or Warlock, I might be able to understand where you were coming from.
Learn from your mistake, don't dust your collection, maybe buy some packs to help you build back up, and you'll get your mage collection back eventually. Just will take some time depending on how much real money you're willing to spend.
This is my current version. Moderate price. Luna is powerful here but can be exchanged and dropping one big game hunter is ok. I just like to try it at the moment. If possible zilliax always fits and for shure you can put in the Mountain giants ... Currently mage seems defined Khadgar. Cyclone mage is cool and wins a lot with Antonidas so ...
I skipped the giants. Pulling the combo on a keysmish is usually already hard and that curves well. Maybe i put them in again.

Wild secret mage only uses two legendaries and a few epics.

Dusting is a trap. That was your #1 mistake.
