Been playing around with the new token druid, which is a great deck - flooding the board with little guys and buffing them is always fun. But it occurs to me, why not squeeze in a cheap or free Sea Giant while you're at it? Is there something I'm missing here?
Fair question. My only reasonable explanation is, no room for it - you want more than 1 minion per card from your cards and also enough buffs to make those small minions threats if left on board.

Token Druid hass Savage Roar which is enough to close out the game and the reason why the deck is so strong in the first place. Sea Giant only makes sense in token decks which lose to boardclears. They act as insurance so a control deck can't just stabilize after wiping your board
Token Druid has so much baord reload that it doesn't actually need to put down solid minions. It can jsut refill until you're out of removal and then smack you in the face for massive damage.
That being said, Savage Roar will finally be nerfed this expansion, I'M about 99% sure of it. After that, Token Druid willl have to rely on just swarmin the board, Zoo style, and as such will resort to running Sea Giant.
My thought is Crystalsong Portal. The deck actually runs very few minions, and gets most of its token generation through spells. Adding more minions decreases the chance of getting all three minions off of the Portal, especially something like Sea Giant which is a dead card until you can build a board.
I think there are lots of stuff you can cut. Crystalsong Portal for one thing. That doesn't really fit the deck other than filling the hand for a bigger Wispering Woods. I also don't really like playing Wrath in my version. That's just a toolbox card in a deck that shouldn't really be toolboxing. And without Wrath then there is not as much value in playing Stalladris either so I've cut him too. I don't like Mark of the Loa either. Instead I have added Whirliglider and Explodinator since those cards actually support the token theme better and the bombs add some good damage which makes it trickier for the opponent to clear the board.

I think the Win more factor is the reason.
Crystalsong Portal is a pretty weak card in the deck, though. I actually try Force of Nature instead, and it might be stronger and have more synergies.
It's just not needed, I've not thought damm I really could use a big boy right now and if i did i think the mulcher 10 drop would be some what better as it has rush to blast through a taunt. As for the crystal song portal it's there as its value and for filling your hand for whispering woods, so I wouldn't want to replace it.
Even though it seems like it is, Sea giant isn't really a token card.
It's run in decks that play a lot of minions, but usually good ones that stay on the board, so you can leverage what you're doing. Token druid doesn't care if the minions it has are 0/1 or 8/8, it wins through board buffs, so it just doesn't matter that much.
Sea Giant doesn't really offer much at all, and they have to be on the battlefield, so the discount is not even permanent. If you want to run something like that, use Mulchmuncher which is way better. You just need to make sure that you are running enough treants obviously, rather than other random tokens. Here's my version in which i take advantage of the treant synergy.

Of course, what to replace is a question...
What would you cut from the most popular list?

simple answer:
because it doesn't need to

I tried having fun once. It was awful.

I'm gonna try Sea Giant and see how it does.
