Has anyone else realize that this card can draw your highest cost minion. This will cause you to lose more joust. The point of jousting is to have high cost minions in your deck to win the joust and drawing them on curve.
Nobody will use that mechanic anyway and the brawl ends soon. Maybe elekk will be payed in beast decks due to lack of 2 mana beasts but for the rest of those cards realy is no hope....only even maybe the warhorse, cause its like a worse tallstrider but the upside is huge however good cards need consistence and joust doesnt have that.
its a coin flip. I thought this card could lead to some cool new hunter designs. After playing with it I realized such a design would most likely be very slow an unreliable as hunter have no class base life reset like others or defense mechanic that does not require them to over extend. Kinda a shame really.
Well it isn't great. If you play it turn 2 then well it isn't good but if you play it later then maybe some value but still not great since you only draw the card.
I don't think joust decks are really going to be a thing hunter pulls off in general, but drawing a big time threat could be a pretty big deal in a low minion count control hunter deck (if it ever takes off). Say malygos hunter becomes a thing with the new hunter control tools (it works well with the hero power and cards like arcane shot, quick shot, and even kill command and tracking), then King's Elekk could be essential in finding things like Thaurissan, Malygos, etc while also contesting a lot of early game like knife juggler.
I think he's getting at the fact that drawing a 10 mana minion on turn 2 is a pretty bad thing, which yeah it is.
Ok first I also dislike Elekk. But it's not so bad when it's for free and attached to a 3/2 body. As far as drawing your high cost minion, if you are running a joust deck it's not a big deal, you'll have fatties for days.
That being said I really dislike the card. If you miss the joust it's a raptor. If you win the joust then the opponent now knows what card you drew and that is vital information. Sometimes the lack of knowledge is more valuable than the card itself.

King's Elekk is bad because it's like 50% chance you draw a card..... that you can't even play for like 4-5 turns. Ideally you'd rather draw your early stuff early, and your later stuff a little bit after you've got your early game plan locked down. As a Hunter you can have some tricky turn 3-4s, and by turn 6 you've often already drawn Highmane or Dr. Boom without a gimmick, so who cares about those cards. What about late game? Late game... well, Hunters don't ideally want to go late (no control hunter won't be a thing). But even if they did, in the late game Hunters want their reach spells like Kill Command more than they want minions. Savannah Highmane is a scary card, but past turn 10 do you often have time to play it? Sometimes yes, but often not.
It would be much better if the card just drew you another random card from your deck after you win the joust. Increases your chances of drawing something like Shredder for a solid turn 4, or a Kill Command for lethal.
Turn 6 Highmane or turn 7 Dr. Balanced are the best on curve plays in the game and Elekk is a card that gives you the chance to do so...
...So does just drawing 5 cards during your first five turns? :/
You don't want a suboptimal turn 2 just to get a minuscule shot at getting a Highmane in your hand. You'd rather develop tempo with crazy stuff like Mad Scientist. All currently existent Hunter archetypes thrive on getting an early board lead with unparalleled tempo. That's most likely not changing after TGT.

You know I like the way you think
Should I expect a video on malygos hunter in the coming weeks? ;)
Oh, shoot. I didn't realize that King's Elekk draws the card that won the joust. In that case, that really is a shame. I loved the card when I though of it as [Joust: Draw a card.]
maybe......though some one already has a outline for it...its a tad rough and lacking in a few areas but I think I could easily modify it.... check it out...

Now a little tweek here or there and it could work.
Now that's a pretty wonky deck. I sorta like the idea behind it. I can't see this being a serious competitive deck, but damn, now that's how you get value out of King's Elekk. This is the perfect deck for the guy, honestly.

It's definitely interesting. It'll probably go the way of something like feign death hunter and will be way too unreliable if the meta truly does slow down, but it's a really cool concept for sure.

Yes, you may draw a high cost card early on, but you still get the card... Does no one realize the power of drawing a card? A 3/2 draw a card is insane, despite what card it is. You are still cycling through your deck meaning you can draw into piloted shredders and kill commands more quickly. Would you rather just draw those cards? Yes of course everyone would, but this card is only playable in control hunter where you can actually put in late game minions (Boom, Rag, maybe alex). Otherwise it is just a raptor. Midrange could use this I suppose, but creeper and scientist are so much better in midrange.

Lol, what? Are you saying that card draw is bad in joust decks? My god...

as a turn 2 play Im not a fan. As a requirement for beast synergy of kill command and or hound master, im ok with it.

its a coin flip for putting ram wrangler or highmane into your hand.

Don't Complain, Use Your Brain!
Easy, throw out a multi-shot for an antique healbot. Why would you carry that when you already have 2 powershots and explosive shot?
Don't Complain, Use Your Brain!
Im going to be testing this come tgt...So far the variant I will start with is as follows
