As the thread says this is an intelectual exercise. It can be modified with the modicications of classic and the new expansion in spring. What cards now marginal in the meta could do a comeback in the new Standar format? Say your feelings as i do now :) :
-Ragnaros the Firelord the standar finisher when i begin to play ( late november 2014) Is played less in current format but can get a great comeback now that Dr Boom will be out.
-Gorehowl hate this weapon when i begin to play. Good substitute of the standar warrior naxx axe.
-Sunwalker im doubting, but could do well as substitute to belcher. Also mention as substitute could be Abomination
-Sword of Justice almost a year without see this little one. Now that quatermaster and coghammer are out could comeback at least in token paladin.
-Harvest Golem staple in a lot of decks time ago. now that deathratte giving minions are less than before has great numbers to comeback.
-Rhonin is not a comeback but want to include it as Spare parts are out of the game ( and some useful cheap spells) and Antonidas may need those 3 1 mana spells.
-And notable mention for posible (failed as i try them both before but who nows now) substitutes of zombie chow: Injured Kvaldir ( for cleric) and Gadgetzan Jouster
This is not an exclusive list. can coment, complete, add and negateas you feel.
thanks for reading and sorry for my english, not native
The new "Control" One Drop will be from the new Expansion. Gadgetzan Jouster requires a Classic Control deck (with Lots of 6-8 Drops maybe a few Giants) and Injured Kvaldir is a 2/1 that Requires A. Priest Heal or B. Desert Camel
Unless BGH is nerfed, don't expect to see 7+ attack minions outside handlock and control Warrior. Boom was so broken OP that he was an autoinclude and the only big minion in most decks too. Many decks won't run 7+ attack because 5 or 6 attack is simply better thanks to BGH being broken. But without Boom, alot of neutral and class legendaries will see play again. Cenarius is one such example.
Gorehowl could be really good if the meta slows and probably better than Geddon which just dies to BGH. Gladiator longbow may replace Boom in hunters as a finisher or to remove two midsized threats. Sunwalker is probably still too weak, but we may get a decent 5 or 6 drop with taunt. Faceless could be a decent 5 drop in a slow meta so you can copy yours or opponent's big minions. Cairne probably will be a decent tier 2 option unless we get an insane 6 drop. Dark iron and harvest golem will make a comeback in many decks, that I agree.

-Faceless Manipulator see a lot of use of him before G&G can he come back?
-Cairne Bloodhoof the deathratte minion grandfather of all .
-Dark Iron Dwarf staple in early decks. killed by Piloted.

A lot of these Classic Cards I love to death. but Dark Iron Dwarf will just be cast aside for Abusive Sargent 8/10

Cairne Bloodhoof will simply be Outshone by Sylvanas Windrunner

Warrior without Deathbite facing Cairne would bring back old nightmares...
Sen'jin will be back I think.
