From now on, Blizzard promises 3 new expansion sets for hearthstone each year.
From time to time, Blizzard has been known to cycle cards from classic down to the hall of fame while merely nerfing basic set cards.
That said, if Blizzard keeps following patter, sooner or later classic is going to have a problem when its card pool shrinks to small when compared to other sets.
I've read suggestions from all over the board that range from cycle cards back into standard from the hall of fame to BUFFING cards that don't see play. But even then, those solutions don't fill in all of the holes the cycling leaves behind.
So here's my thing...should Blizzard dedicate 1 of its 3 new set releases to the classic set? My idea is that by doing so, not only does it fill in the holes the old cycles leave behind, but new classic cards still add much needed freshness to the game.
Also, by doing this, Blizzard my be less hesitant to cycle other over powered cards from classic to the hall of fame. If there's less fear of depleting classic all together, it may actually encourage Blizzard to act more often than they do.
Not to mention that by doing this, it would encourage everyone from streaming "whales"/pros to new or casual players to keep buying packs from classic as well as their other expansions.
Firstly, no. You go smoke another one buddy and roll me one whilst you're there.
Classic is your bread and butter cards. They define the class they belong to and if they are neutral then they are already balanced as is. The cards that have been nerfed from the classic set have either been virtually destroyed or are now on an acceptable power level. Examples of this include Leeroy Jenkins or Gadgetzan Auctioneer. If these cards seem usable to you with their current cost, imagine when either of these were 1 mana cheaper as they were in their first iteration. Those were stupid.
By adding to the Classic set you run the risk of losing class identity and adding something that your deck cannot be built around. The classic set in it's current form is the rock around which other expansions are made. Go dicking around with this and it will go wrong.
I’m for changing the classic set occasionally but not in this way. They’ve only rotated a few cards to the HOF, but it needs to be done in small batches. Card dumping 160 cards into classic every year would be a mess.
I always wondered if, when a set rotates to wild, a select few cards from that set should get added to the classic set?
Obviously it would cause uproar on here when Blizzard announced which cards were going to be kept as standard, but I think this would be the best way to keep the classic set "fresh" and full..
Sorry, but this is one of the worst ideas iv seen in a looooooooooooooooooooooooong time. The point of the Standard rotation is to have a "fixed" number of cards in the format (minus Hall of Fame retirees obviously) and to "keep it fresh". If you would keep one xpac per year in there as well, it would completely defeat the purpose of the game mode, like it would literally not make any sense whatsoever to have two separate game modes anymore. Not to mention merging other sets into Classis is just such a bad idea for so many reasons, just no.
As others have suggested, the likely compromise that Blizzard will adopt is something between their current policy, and Kibler's recent suggestions - they'll keep relegating one or two cards each year for a few more years, and eventually they'll add cards to the evergreen set as replacements, until the balance of the evergreen set is "just right." BB has already mentioned Shatter as a likely future candidate for promotion to the evergreen set - there are others you can imagine . . .

What does every one else think?
+ 1 Point to you for trying and for being creative.
And now for the critique: If you keep removing a few cards from Classic to Hall of Fame BUT ALSO keep adding a lot of cards to Classic each year then sooner or later (yes I used your words) Classic will totally dominate Standard constantly because almost all of Standard is Classic. (Standard would consist of Basic + 6 expansions + Classic that would be 25 times bigger than each of the expansions. This is an example of a grimm future)
I decided to cut your quote in half. All the dots have replaced your words. Go to the OP to read it all.
People above have already mentioned why it is not a good idea to give a whole expansion to add new classic cards per year. I definitely agree with them.
That being said, I see the concern of losing cards through HoF. Rather than adding a whole new expansion, I do think it might be an interesting idea to add a select few cards occasionally to replace the HoF cards, particularly for class cards. For Classic, each class has 6 common cards, 5 rares, 3 epics, and 1 legendary. However, mage, rogue, and warlock have already each lost 1 common card, and now mage will be losing 1 epic card. While losing 1 or 2 cards doesn't make a huge difference, the fact remains that those classes now have that many cards less to pick from when creating decks. It would be nice to see Blizzard replace those specific cards to even up the pool. With that in mind, they probably don't need to replace neutral cards.
People might argue that this means that those classes would then gain an advantage in wild. My argument against this is that the pool of cards in wild is much larger than that in standard, so the 1 or 2 card differences are not so important as they would be in standard. Also, the wild pool card will continue to grow, making the difference even more insignificant.
I just don't see how this makes sense from the get go, you answer to removing 2 cards from classic each year is adding 160?
As others have mentioned, a simpler, and more viable option would be to reintroduce a few cards from previous expansions back in to the classic set each year as needed.
This will also provide the occasional perk for collectors that don't dust there HOF, or standard cards as they rotate out.
So, here's my thoughts on the matter.

Only enough to compensate for the other cards going into the HoF.
For example: Shatter could replace Ice Lance
Fearsome Doomguard could replace Power Overwhelming
Arcane Blast Could replace Ice Block
I always wondered if, when a set rotates to wild, a select few cards from that set should get added to the classic set?
