Before I get to the list, I want to stipulate that this ranking not only weighs the card's hypothetical power level, but also the creativity in its design.
Alright let's get to the rankings:
9th - Skull of the Man'ari: This card's placement probably is a surprise to no one. The power level of this card is ridiculously low and the design behind the card is just boring. There are hypothetical decks where this card can work, but none of them seem like they would be as strong as current Warlock lists.
8th - Woecleaver: While I do believe this card has the chance to see play, the abysmal stats make me doubt its viability. The sole reason this is ranked lower than another 8 Mana, poorly-stated weapon is because this weapon's effect is very boring.
7th - The Runespear: This weapon probably has even less of a chance of seeing play than the Warlock weapon (which is saying a lot). The reason why I ranked this number 7 is because this effect is at least somewhat interesting, and this card may find its home in some Hearthstone Meme Compilations.
6th - Rhok'delar: Now this card does have an intriguing design, which carried it to such a high rank. Unfortunately, it can't get past 6th because it is very hard to see a situation where this card is competitively viable. Not much else to say except: RIP Hunters in K&C.
5th - Val'anyr: I hate having to give this card such a low rank. It has a very creative design, and is quite powerful. The issue is knowing in what if any deck this card is strong enough to find a home. Once the expansion launches, this is a card who's ranking might change drastically.
4th - Dragon Soul: Similar to Val'anyr, this is a tough card to evaluate. Again, the design and power level of this card are both quite good. The issue with this weapon is with Raza Priest being as strong as it is, can it make room for a card like this. Or alternatively, can a deck using this card perform better than Raza Priest. Unfortunately, the answer to both of those questions appear to be no at the moment. Again, this is a card whose ranking may change drastically with K&C's release.
3rd - Twig of the World Tree: With an effect like this, it's almost impossible to imagine this card NOT seeing play. However, a little part of me is wondering whether this card is a red herring. While the effect is clearly VERY strong, is it the kind of effect Druid is looking for right now? We'll have to wait for the meta to shape-put before we can know for sure. Another reason this card is rated this low is because the design is a tad boring.
2nd - Aluneth: Now most people probably would expect this weapon to be number one, and honestly if this list were purely based on power level, it would be. However, this list also deals with the overall design of the card, and this weapon's effect is the epitome of boring. I can't imagine a meta where this card doesn't at least see a little bit of play in Mage, but the post-release meta will give us the definite answer.
1st - Kingsbane: Some people may be shocked to see this take the number 1 spot, but let me explain myself. This card has the potential to gear rogue in an entirely different direction. This card is undeniably strong, and with support from cards like Cavern Shinyfinder, this deck might be able to compete with current Tempo Rogue lists. Plus, the design of this card is AWESOME!
Comment below your opinions on the rankings and give your own rankings if you're so inclined.
I would not rank the Warlock weapon as “ridiculously low powered.” I agree it is a high risk high reward card. But what happens when you get 4 ticks out of it in a game because you are against no weapon hate? Then it’s crazy good.
The warrior weapon has potential, especially if cheated out early and you build your deck correctly.
shaman’s weapon is trash. It is an RNG fiesta. I’m sure it’ll be fun to play with, but you cannot expect it to land you an evolve, bloodlust, or even a totemic might. Not reliable = memes.
Hunter’s weapon is bad NOW, but it’s clear it’s a setup for a future build of hunter. So it’ll have potential later on.
paladin weapon is INSANE if not silenced. And i honestly think Quest Paladin will be a thing. I’ve been theorycrafting it for days. You have too many targets to silence - Galvadon, Lynessa? If that is her name, Tirion, and any buffed minions from the weapon. Also, you can occasionally protect a huge threat by using Getaway Kodo, and just re-play one of your massive threats. I put the pally weapon much higher.
Priest weapon is interesting. I’d put it middle of the pack for now, because it’s tough to evaluate if any sort of miracle or Aggro build can use it efficiently.
Druid weapon has crazy potential for combos and anti weapon hate, unless it’s turn 8/9 and you can reduce them from getting bonus crystals on their turn from 10 to 1-2 bonus ones.
mage weapon is insane in tempo or burn mage. Absolutely disgusting.
Rogue weapon is decent as well but requires good build around and getting a buff or two down before it gets destroyed. I don’t think it’s tier 1 but you certainly have me thinking about it now.
Love the discussion topic, thanks for sharing your thoughts bro :)
Edit: just realized your list was also based on creativity. I’d have to completely rethink my list if i was doing that too. I’d agree the Warlock weapon is kinda boring (although the artwork is fabulous).
I think this card is super fun, can be used in both decks that build around the card, or as a part of a 4-5 card package that just enables the card. Love the entire consept and that they gave this for rogue and not warrior (which has even more realistic ways of buffing a weapon). I also think this card will be very completable, if not in this meta then in a future one. Have hypothesised some decks with it already that looks promising.
I don't know about you, but I think Aluneth is a load of crap. It's value for the first 2 triggers, then you basically just end up milling yourself and going into fatigue. It's pretty shit in my opinion.
Skull of the Man'ari is ass. Even if it does live a turn it's not even worth the effect
Didn't rank it on strength, but total impression. After that has been said, I've noticed that people then to exaggerate the likeliness of special removal, like weapon removal, in card games. As an old MTG player there is always much more reasonable to presume that an enchantment or artefact will remain alive, than a creature, even though MTG has neutral permanent removal and much more special removal and effects in general. This will often stay in play for 4-5 turns, sometimes be destroyed right away and sometimes stay there for the rest of the game. Even if your opponent runs weapon removal, he the still has to draw it, which will not happen consistently. Lastly you are right about the effect being a bit limited though, would have liked the card a lot better if it was ''at the start of your turn recruit a demon'', but warlock has HP.
Are you retarded aluneth may be the craziest weapon there is. It will push tempo mage to tier 1 in my opinion especially when your out of cards and can get crazy burn turn after turn.

Is that sarcasm? Or are you the king of changing your opinion mid-sentence?
The only Weapon that will see play in ladder will probably be Kingsbane (no Druid´s stick doesn´t count because everyone who plays Jade Druid doesn´t have a soul). A fun meme weapon might be Dragon Soul. All other Weapon´s don´t seem to be worth building a deck around them. The worst one will probably be The Runespear or Woecleaver (both really suck)
i'm rating them approximately in the order i would like to receive them, which factors in class and deck preferences and how interesting they are more than, but not to the exclusion of, how good i think they are
9. Aluneth - i think this card will be stupid good in tempo mage, and only tempo mage. and i hate tempo mage with the fire of a thousand suns
8. The Runespear - high-roll potential, but too slow and unreliable IMO
7. Skull of Man'ari - slightly less slow and unreliable than The Runespear, but only just
6. Val'anyr - I'm hoping this one is too slow to see play, or else it might be oppressively good
5. Woecleaver - some potential here, but I don't know if the deck comes together for it. I'm the occasional fan of EZ BIG EZ DECKS EZ though, so it would be interesting to see Warrior's spin on the theme.
4. Rhok'delar - this one looks hellafun, but like Woecleaver, I don't know if the deck comes together. Not a hunter player (its my only non-golden class), so that works both against its rating and for it at the same time, because an interesting control hunter that's playable would make me want to complete the golden hero squad. I think Kathrena Winterwisp is more likely to contribute to that than the weapon, but both give more possibilities and more options on that front.
3. Twig of the World Tree - not sure this will end up seeing play until the next rotation, but its interesting
2. Dragon Soul - i'll definitely try out a miracle priest deck if i pull this one, and priest is my most played class since the beginning of hearthstone.
1. Kingslayer - one of the most interesting weapons for sure. not a huge rogue player, and i don't know if i'd ultimately find the deck fun or not, but would definitely give it a whirl

I can't really point out to what is good or not, cause from my perspective right now, without seeing them in action, all of them are crap to playable, nothing too powerful, but I think Aluneth and Kingsbane might be really good, especially the mage one if aggro/tempo mage become a thing
The Fringe playable weapon everyone will forget about that will magically appear in a random legend reaching deck some day because it's quite good but probably not necessary considering how good Paladin late game already is: Val'anyr
I don't know about you, but I think Aluneth is a load of crap. It's value for the first 2 triggers, then you basically just end up milling yourself and going into fatigue. It's pretty shit in my opinion.
This is what I keep saying, but people just bring up all of the ideal situations where you get it to activate for 1-2 turns for 3-6 cards then the opponent immediately destroys it so that it would never mill the mage.

I don't know about you, but in a class that lives and dies by its efficient burn, I have absolutely no problem whatsoever drawing 9 cards that can help burn out my opponents. In fact, I don't even mind if three of those cards are milled because drawing that much in mage means I win.

That's what so many people seem to forget. I'm not going to want to play my Harrison Jones or Gluttonous Ooze on this. I'm going to let them keep drawing, until they realise they're dream of "Tempo Secret Mage" falls flat because they can't play all their secrets and mill themselves. Who knows, it might be OP? Probably not.

No offense, but when has a tempo mage ever played even 9 cards from fatigue. It doesn't matter.

I ranked them based on how I like the card in all senses (inkl. theme and graphics), not on likeliness of being in a tier 1 or 2 deck.
