Background: I’ve been playing for about 2 months now. Early on I got stuck around level 20. I then found out about Zoolock and played it up to rank 12. At this point I thought about increasing my deck strength and crafting a legendary. After looking around for a bit, it seemed Keleseth may be a good idea.
Keleseth in Zoolock in practice: I proceeded to play the deck, and my winrate dropped from 53% to 13%. At this point I reverted to my previous deck for a while. I guessed the problem was two-fold in nature: 1) He doesn’t always drop early and 2) You need to give up all the other 2 cost minions.
I did not play him for a while and yesterday wondered about getting more data. So I spend last night playing 8 games with him in a rogue deck with 2 x Shadowstep. Link to the deck
All these matches were played at Rank 15. Results are as follows:
Game no - Drawn cards in turn 0 – Drawn Keleseth in which turn – Got shadowstep? – W/L
1) 8 Not at all No L
2) 8 2 No L
3) 6 9 No L
4) 6 0 No L
5) 7 7 No L
6) 7 4 No L
7) 7 0 1 L
8) 4 5 2 W
Looking back I could have won game 4 if not for a basic mistake. In game 7 I simply got overpowered: T1: Some pirate + Patches T2: Keleseth T5: Wickerflame Burnbristle T6: Leeroy. In other games I did not have a chance.
I suppose more experienced players will be better at using him but as a beginner you can craft more usable and cheaper cards than this (rares and epics).
This is a solid bit of advice. Keleseth is very high rolly. You can win without ever drawing him, but having him is detrimental to your deck if you don't get to use him. admittedly there's not a large number of good 2 drops for zoolock
Aggro decks need good piloting. While drawing him early on does in fact increase your chances for a more powerful early game that will ultimately win you the game I am pretty sure that you made a lot of mistakes,by simply being new to the game. Watch your minion positioning and when to push for board or hold onto a few of your cards. I don't play aggro myself since I don't like the archetype but I don't see how your personal experience(being very minimal from what I see) justifies not crafting this certain legendary.

Currently using direwolf, knife juggler and defile. Do you happen to know any good replacements?

Thanks for the advice. So far I only watched trump's beginner course. Do you happen to have any recommended sources for learning?
I crafted him. Don't care much for him. If you are going to commit to him and play a deck 100+ games, he should pay off with a good winrate if the rest of the deck is solid.
My problem is I like to switch decks and play more complicated synergy. So I barely use him
This close to a new expansion don't craft any legendaries.
That said Kelseleth is a really strong card in zoo warlock. But less strong than patches. Not sure if the card would be worth it without patches. Probably yes but it means having to play lower quality 1 drops which is bad.
Tempo rogue relies more on Keleseth than Zoo, imo. Which is why I don't like it
This is blatently untrue. 3 classes have strongly utilised Kelseleth. Warlock and paladin because of strong card draw maximizing the bonus of the card. And rogue, because daggering up on turn 2 is a decently strong play so the penalty of not drawing the card is reduced.
I crafted him last month simply because I was returning to the game for the first time since karazhan launch. I wanted to make a zoo deck and he was in all of them. I had no idea a new expansion was coming out, or I'd have built more of a budget deck just to get the card backs in oct/nov/dec then spent all my dust on K&C cards. I'd definitely not craft anything now until new expansion is out. I crafted a few cheaper cards (living mana for druid just seemed to good, so got a couple of those) but holding off on anything else now.

Watch Brian Kibler YouTube videos or his stream (bmkibler). Former MTG pro and HoF'er, very optimistic guy overall, and when he plays the game, he walks thru his plays as well as explains his thought process for each move.

I wouldn't recommand to ever craft rares. Even f2p, you'll get all of them fairly quickly if you play your daily quests, and crafting rares is just a waste of dust.

You shouldn't run defile in a zoo deck! It goes against your whole strategy. But knife juggler and direwolf are solid cards if you don't want to run Keleseth. Other potential 2-drops in a deck without Keleseth could be Golakka Crawler, Fallen Sun Cleric or Bilefin Tidehunter.

It was quite an impulsive thing for me to do as well. I actually also crafted living mana after that. Now just waiting for the new expansion to come out yeah.
I think for a beginner it is a reasonable advice not to craft Keleseth. Or better said: Anyone who cares about precious dust shouldn't craft him. He was not in the meta before the aggro decks got nerfed and he is not necessarily needed to win in zoo, Paladin or Rogue either. And if more aggro decks Pop up in the new Expansion, he might fall out of favour again. So crafting him is kind of a gamble.
However, he is not a bad craft, but it might be that he will not be part of the meta. Prince Keleseth is good, but he is not Patches the Pirate .

So you thought only Mage had an exodia combo eh
Don't depend on specific legendaries. The deck must be solid even without Keleseth.

With these powerfull aoe next expansion, I doubt you should craft any aggro deck for that matter. Better go midrange paladin or sthibg more durable,

This is some good advice. You shouldn't craft cards because you might not draw them.
Actually, why play the game at all? You might not draw the cards you ever want.
The main reason not to craft Keleseth now (or other legendaries, for that matter) is that K&C release is so close.
Prince-2 is a very good card atm, as you can see here: https://hsreplay.net/cards/#text=keleseth. But we don't know yet how this will change in just a week.

Well I did craft Keleseth and I'm having a blast with him. He made demon zoolock viable again.
