I am sitting on enough dust for a legendary, and I’m content with the decks I can make from the cards I have this set. I am debating whether The Darkness would be a good craft as a counter to raza priest. I’ve only seen a few on the ladder so far, so I wasn’t sure what you all thought.
I have yet to see the card played in casual or on ladder. The meta right now is far too tempo driven to spend 4 mana doing nothing. Even if they somehow draw all the candles, they will just continue smacking your face until you die
I would definitely wait on crafting The Darkness. For now, early indications would say that A. the minion is far too slow, and B. your opponent has ample time to take care of the threat as soon as it crops up for real. Draw the last candle? Bam, Polymorph. Bam, Shadow Word: Death. They can sit on the spell/answer for several turns, while you twiddle your thumbs waiting for your 20/20.
I'd be patient and save your dust.
Edit: As tartanblood noted, right now The Darkness' most powerful use is to deny Highlander/Reno decks from accessing their Raza the Chained, Kazakus and whatnot. But 1600 dust is a lot to ask for a "tech" use-case.
Behold, foolish interlopers! I am commanding this mortal to spread the will of the Scourge throughout the interwebs, encouraging you to seek out me, Archlich Kel'Thuzad! Now coming to you as the tenth class of Hearthstone!
I am a finalist in this Class Creation Competition, so if you could give it a look I would be greatly appreciative <3
But against RazaPriest doesn't it have a role. I mean that deck can't hit you in the face if your deck has duplicates. I think if priest goes popular then this card can rise.

To be fair, in this meta, if you summon a 4 mana anything and it doesn't have taunt or threaten 8+ damage next turn, it's already a 4 mana "do nothing". If it weren't for board clears / removal, we could just skip the whole "game" part and just watch our decks automatically curvestone eachother.

Look at this thing and let me know what you think!
no -- really depends on the deck you want to play, but no the darkness overall is not very good and doesn't have a place in a majority of decks
it's only viable spot in the meta right now is as a possible raza tech in control warlock or warrior, and there's many many legends you'd craft before darkness if you want something like that
master oakheart, for example, is a much better neutral legendary for control as a staple in control warlock and occasional tech in control warrior and various experiment slow druid decks
Since I'd been hating Raza Priest for months now, I crafted the Darkness right away, and put it in my decks, but I'm rarely encountering Raza Priest (currently only at rank 10, so maybe there are more at rank 5). And in one game where I did play it on turn 4, they still killed me later on even though they didn't get Raza activated.
Right now, I'd say it isn't a good craft since we aren't seeing it being played. Meta is still being defined, so I'd say wait to craft anything for another week or two at the least. I'm actually thinking crafting double Epics for some of the cards is going to be more required than any single legendary in this set.

I crafted it in golden and I think it was a good decision. However I play a lot of wild where Reno Priests, Mages and Warlocks are prevalent and growing stronger in each expansion. Sometimes I manage to pair The Darkness with Brann Bronzebeard just salt the wounds a bit more.
But in standard, Highlander Mages and Warlocks are almost non-existent. It's only really good against Highlander Priest, but I can't justify having it just to counter one deck of one class.
It's a tech card though, you have to judge it on your own experiences. Just like you'd use Eater of Secrets if you're facing lots of secrets or oozes/Jones if you're seeing lots of weapons.
I got it in a pack, tried it a few times and then dusted it to finish a deck I wanted to play. if you have a ton of dust going spare, then maybe. I don't have the resources to keep it sitting there doing nothing though personally.
In the right deck, like mill rogue maybe. it's probably alright.
Hello Everyone,

Meh.
No, it's only purpose is to deny deck uniqueness for your opponent.
This prevents:
Raza: but only if you have drawn and played the darkness before your opponent plays Raza.
Reno, kazzakkus: wild only.
For other matchups it is a dead card. Worse than crabs or eater of secrets.
Good craft, No. Fun craft, yes! ^^
I opened mine. The only reason I have it.

I opened it and can confirm it's a pretty bad card in almost all situations, but is really fun!

Just craft some corridor creepers.
put in every deck.
