When I first saw the card i was really excited- it has really awesome effects indeed, but then i started to think: would you run 1 or 2 of it in a deck? 1 of seems more reasonable to me, as the current build of dragon priest is really tight on card slots, with some even cutting pain and death. Is there some reason i'm not seeing that would 2 copies reasonable?
Then with the introduction of the class legendary being a dragon as well, i'm starting to think they are actually nerfing netherspite historian really really hard for priest. The let your opponent take two turns one is completely useless, and duskbreaker would be quite situational, it could wipe out some aggro push, but it could also really hurt your chance of getting Operative, which could help in control heavy matchups.
I don't really think that the Temporus and Duskbreaker is a really big nerf to Netherspite Historian since well, 2 more dragons not gonna ruin whole Discover process. And Duskbreaker might be really good in Aggro match-ups, if you already used one. I guess running 1 copy is just enough, especially when more controlish meta is coming (Atleast I hope so)
Though, it might be a bigger nerf to Wild Dragon Priest, since there are even more dragons and that's hitting Discover process more and more
I have a feeling that Dragon priest is going to be strong this coming meta. we may even see more dragons. I know in the artwork there was a dragon as well that we're yet to see on a card, so I'm thinking this may be the case.
Personally I hope that Dragon Priest does become stronger in the coming meta as I do like me some Dragons, and the expansion is a D&D parody after-all. It would make sense (to me at least) for dragon Priest to be a prominent deck this time around (not that it sucks right now by any means)
It would be the first priest deck I am yet to run since my short period playing the game though. I love the tier one priest decks right now, but for me they are bit on the expensive side. It would be nice to get a good priest deck I can actually afford to craft.
Also I think some of the top tier priest decks will probably be including some dragon cards also. I seen someone comment about this on a thread recently, and their argument was quite compelling.
That's a difficult question to answer, as the meta can become anything from t2 lethals back and forth to "every game goes fatigue!", since there's still what.. 60 cards to reveal?
The dragon priest versions that run in wild currently probably won't welcome this particular 4-drop without adapting, nor will the OTK fast version from standard need it per se, but it is a strong enough card to build entirely new types of slower dragon priests.
Key thing is that 3 damage in particular is juicy, since it's just enough to get rid of the Acolyte without extra draws, it can also be comboed with other aoe removal one the same turn, which wasnt really a thing beforehand. Dusk-OP + Dragonfire does better for less cards than the other options of Thalnos + Dragonfire + Spirit Lash or whatever auchenai circles you want to do.
Maybe Ysera won't be too slow anymore thanks to that 4-drop.. Or maybe the meta will somehow be so unbelievably slow, that the 4-drop will be a nuisance to the priest more than the enemy. Think control warlock or DMH warrior mirrors.. ugh.. Though i doubt that last bit.
I'd certainly love to be able to field more dragons than just cobalt scalebane (effectively) in a lock deck to negate those pesky dragonfire potions the priest love to sling about with great abandon.
also completely nullifying (well to an extent at least) an acolyte would be nice.
I'm still new at this so correct me if I'm wrong on lock decks getting to run much more than cobalt effectively. I am looking into a death rattle based lock deck that runs a pair of bone drakes also, though come to think of it.
PS: maybe we will see the next "azure drake" in this coming expansion. when I first started playing, that card was pretty much in every deck.
maybe the duskbreaker could even be such a card. It;s certainly one of the cards i was most hyped about, and it wasn't just because I love dragons. ha ha.
I used to run Holy Nova in my Dragon Priest deck. With Dustbreaker, I can easily remove Holy Nova x2, and maybe just keep 1 copy of Dragonfire Potion.
As a note, Dragon Priest will lose Historian, Drakonid Op and Dragonfire Potion by next April.. so the next 3 months might be the last time for Dragon Priest to shine unless Blizz keeps pushing for new Dragon cards for this class.

Good point. So yeah, might be a good idea to roll out the a DP deck then... I mean crafting the cards might be counter to longevity, but it would still be sweet to get to play the deck before it goes.
If they don't give us stuff to replace the rotating cards, the deck might vanish for a while possibly. I think they will probably bring out suitable replacements in one form or another, or the deck will simply resurface once they do later along the line.
BTW, do they never add cards from expansions to standard?
I used to run Thief Priest decks before Evolve Shaman and Aggro Druid took over in Un'Goro. Not consistent in winning, but hella fun. Dragons were more of a secondary item in the deck -- enabling the Drakonid Operative and finishing with either Nefarian (wild) or Deathwing, Dragonlord in the late game (the latter having you carry N'Zoth for extra card steals from your crystals and shades, and one or more Dragonlords attempt).
Duskbreaker might bring that deck back as it fixes a big flaw in the deck -- countering the swarms of crap since early board control was a weak point.
Let's see how Archbishop Benedictus does in an almost-meme deck.

There are 98 more cards to be revealed. Current reveal page says 37 out of 135.
You have a cheap clear with a body, which curves into the strongest dragon in the game. Running 2 should be a no-brainer. It can also allow you to cut pain, if you're worried about slots.
Hmm is that even a question? Are you sure you didn't misread the card? Dragon Priest's biggest weakness was always Token/Aggro and unless they release Aggro tools more retarded than UndertakerDuskbreaker will give those the middle finger while putting a 3/3 on the board and probably curve into either OP or Scalebane.... I'm sorry but I fail to see how that would be a nerf to Historian....
Even when Drankonid Op rotates, people will still run Duskbreaker in Control Priest. There are always enough lategame dragons to put in your deck to make Dustbreaker viable.
And Historian does take a hit because you won't get Operative 90% of the time

Any thoughts?

I think Duskbreaker is a solid card for Dragon priest. The three damage to all minions will be deadly to agro decks.
If you are in your first year of playing please read this post.
Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.
has anyone done the math on how much less likely you would get operative? Sorry it's been a while since i last read up on how exactly discover works

Duskbreaker is strong enough to completely change the way dragon priest decks are built
Just check the duskbreaker thread, I think it’s like 70% meta defining and 30% very good

Is jade druid better with jade idol? ๐ค
Release the Kraken!
