To be honest I was kinda expecting a ghost or undead tribe. There are a lot of retroactive candidates from previous sets as well. Undead is big deal in other blizzard games, and could be quite flavorful especially with Warlock and Paladin.
Nightmare Amalgam could have been a neat way to reveal a new tribe.
The question becomes one of what characteristics the new tribe would have.
Elementals often have the "if you played an elementar last turn..." activation.
Dragons have "if you are holding a dragon..."
Pirates don't have an activator, but tend to synergize with weapons.
Beasts synergize with nature-based effects in Druid and Hunter.
Other than flavor, what would tie undead together? What would make them special or unusual? N other words, what would you expect the undead tribe to add to the game?
I would expect them to interact with key worded cards. Give ghost this or destroy ghost that. Elementals are the only tribe that have a unique mechanic. Beasts have zero uniqueness.
Not all pirates have weapon synergy. Some do. Some non pirates have weapon synergy.
Not all mechs have spare parts. Some do. Some non mechs have spare parts.
Not all dragons have in hand synergy. Some do. Some non dragons have in hand synergy.
Not all murlocs buff each other. Some do. Some non murlocs have minion buffs.
Not all ghosts would have echo. Some do. Some non ghosts have echo.

Well they should introduce some "basic" tribes like Humans, Elves, Gnomes, Undeads, Taurens etc ...
Those all are Humanoids and this won't be happen I believe, I am not sure about undeads only.
I guess we will see Nagas in some day with the anouncing of Queen Azshara.

Maybe damage to hero's, or deathrattle synergiws e
E.g. resurrection, a few possibilities to go at if they wanted to
There is a hidden undead tribe tag within the game. If i recall correctly one of the single player bosses or tavern brawl cards in nax had summon/add a random undead to your hand/field
1. Ghost or Undead tribe would add inconsistencies to the game, because of cards like Chillmaw , Bone Drake , or any of Undead Pirates,
2. I don't feel like it's neccesary, and I have a problem thinking of any synergies or changes in gameplay that it would add. ( I don't feel these "ressurection" or Deathrattle theme, they can do it without a new tribe. )

Anger is the punishment we give ourselves for someone else's mistake.
I actually thought this would take shape during Knights of the Frozen throne. Plenty of undead creatures from various expansions.

Maybe "If a ghost died this/last turn" would be a cool trigger.
