Genuinely interested to hear the arguments (and I'm sure they're there) as to why some people may think this card shouldn't be moved to a classic card.
Is the argument against this solely due to the fact that this may facilitate combo decks? For you nay-sayers, do we really want to eliminate combo decks?

I would like to see him moved to Wild. New cards will take his place, combo decks will still be a thing just like they always have been, they've just been played differently.
Removing emperor should greatly affect many current ladder decks and shift at least the lower tiers of the meta. Even a fun card like that will get stale when it's in 60% of decks played.
thaurissan kind of restricts what kind of combo cards blizzard can release in standard since he has the chance to make it go retarded, i'd rather have him in wild where you are supposed to face against any kind of deck rather him being kind of a soft restriction on the standard meta, also if they moved him to classic what should they do with the people that wont be able to get him because the adventure rotates out? they could gift him but that makes it so people who already got him complain, and making so you MUST craft him isnt really fair. And dont forget that peopla WILL ask that certain cards like loatheb are moved to standard too.
It's not because he's good in combo. It's because he's a key important card that's key to specific decks. And NO cad in Classic should do that.
The goal of Standard is to force everyone, EVERYONE, to swap or dramatically change their decks every 2 years or less. C'thun warrior should not exist 2 years from now. Fatigue warrior already had almost 2 years and it's timer for her to move on. Same for Reno decks, Aggro shaman, and so on. It's not about what we like or don't like. It's about change.
Thus the problem with Emperor. Emperor is key to a good few decks. If he's a classic card, those decks will NOT die out. THAT is why he can't stay in Standard.
We enjoy our decks. We love them. But we must move on eventually to new things. It doesn't mean Combo has to die. It DOES mean Combo has to change. Those that don't want to change, that's what wild is for.

You've told us you want to the card to be moved to classic, and you ask us our opinions. But we haven't heard your reason for why you think it should be moved. If I accuse you of murder and support that accusation with zero evidence, its not your responsibility to prove you didn't murder someone. Its my responsiblity as the one who makes the claim to state my argument.

Lol, my friend I think you need to put down the fighting mitts here and relax for a second. As my first sentence said:

Believe it or not - just wanted to hear the opinions of why people want this thing moved out of standard, as the rest of the thread has been capable of doing.

It offers a solution to the problem of having a tempo-focused game. If you want to play for card advantage instead of tempo Thaurissan on 6 is a beautiful solution to utilize your card advantage to generate higher tempo than your opponent.
The limit of 10 mana in most classes can only be breached by Thaurissan and I don't think Hearthstone should discard this option ever in its lifetime because it enriches the game so much allowing for a multitude of plays that wouldn't be possible otherwise.
For but not limited to these reasons I believe whoever is against moving Thaurissan to the classic set is really against a greater HS experience. You can see that usually Thaurissan is played in decks with a higher skill cap so perhaps most of the community is just resentful from losing to better players and should be ignored in this matter :)
I belive that Emperor, Justicar and all the LoE legendaries should be classic cards (ok, Brann can move on). Their effects are so unique and interesting and make so many decks possible to play, competitive and just for fun. They are note OP cards by themself... just very well designed.

See this is kind of my mentality, in that it enriches the game. However, I think there's some valid points being tossed around in that it will get stale, and that we don't want to see it in every deck (not that we do now). I'm still pretty on the fence on this one.
As for Loatheb, I think I'm quite happy that he's out of the game, as I find his ability detracted from the fun aspect of the game in the same way that silence does. Making people unable to play things is less fun than playing something and having to react to remove it, IMO. Stripping abilities is a negative on the fun scale.

First of all, if you want to play Tharussain then just go into wild. Second of all, he's tied into the history and area of Blackrock Mountain along with Nefarian, Onyxia, and Ragnaros the Firelord. We can't just move him to classic because it would be a nice thing to do.

Let's not forget that Nat pagle is a fisherman named after a dev, and leeroy jenkins is a card of a player in blackrock spire, both of which are in the classic set. That said, I'm pretty sure blizzy can do whatever the hell they please as far as moving cards around from set to set.
There's no secret that Thaurissan, as well as many of the other cards (all of them, in fact!) are available in Wild - not really the point of this. The fact that there are people that enjoy playing Standard, and as well as the standard (do we think the naming is a coincidence? unlikely) format for the tournament scene is Standard, there is merit to a discussion of whether or not Thaurissan should remain in rotation.
Simply stating that it'll be in wild is a bit of a cop out from an opinion on this matter.
Finally, contrary to your beliefs, Raggy is actually a classic card. Imagine that! ;)
To be honest, thaurissan and reno are cards that noone is caring about lately. I guess this is why they should rotate out. Now, people are rather playing with the old Gods and the newly released Karazhan legendary Curator/Medivh. We will have to hope that not in the wintee expansion but in the spring expansion new great and unique cards will be introduced to replace these 2 cards. Just don't have an idea. Maybe like "If your deck contains only dragons, reduce the cost of all dragons in your hand by 1" or dunno what. Some kind of restriction
When I look at Emperor Thaurissan, I think about what happened to Loatheb. Loatheb effect was very unique and powerful, so much so it could be used as a finished against heavy spelled decks.
But the way I see it is that even though Loatheb was a good counter, it's effect was considered too powerful to be moved into the classic set. I believe this is the same case with Emperor Thaurissan. He has a powerful effect, but to me that is the reason I didn't except to see Emperor Thaurissan moved to the classic set.

My Entry for this week's Card Design Competition - Season 8.16:
Play Wild if you like Thaurissan. I used to be sad that Reno Jackson was going to rotate out, but then I gave Wild a try and love it. Now I'm not sad anymore.
People think Wild is this unplayable RNGfest, but it really isn't much worse than Standard. Sure, there's Shredders and Boombots, but other than that the RNG isn't too crazy.

Loatheb is a great example of counterplay, which is exactly what we're missing in standard. Sure, it was frustrating when he locked you out of making a play; but he was just as satisfying on the flipside securing your board to set up for lethal or blocking lethal from a combo druid or freeze mage. Cards that present counterplay improve the game by freeing design space - you can design more powerful spells when there's a neutral answer to spells.
Thaurissan, on the other hand, enabled a playstyle, which is great and interesting (and important), but he also has an underappreciated impact in limiting the design space. Cheap contingent damage spell (combo based or condition based cards like Eviscerate and Ice Lance, for example) can be lowered to 0 cost, which opens up a lot of outcomes that blizz has deemed undesirable (OTKs from a few cards on an empty board, etc). Same thing with powerful minions, charge, buff spells, etc.
Long story short, Thaurissan rotating will be a good thing for the game in the long run, even if he is a very cool card.

I don't think there's any real reason to limit which cards are included in classic based on where they appear in WoW. If that was Blizzard's intention, wouldn't they have limited the original classic cards to characters from Vanilla?
Also, everyone saying that Thaurissan needs to move to wild to open up design space seems to be ignoring the fact that any new cards introduced in future expansions will be added to wild as well as standard. If he's limiting design space now, nothing will change in wild when he rotates out of standard. So unless Blizzard wants to admit that they just don't care whether or not they make broken decks in wild, nothing's going to change.

He shouldnt be moved to classic because wild is a thing. Play wild if you like Thaurissan. The card isnt being deleted you know.

Yes. It only enriches the game.
Malygos for example costs 9 mana and is really hard to fit in any deck without Emperor Thaurissan.

I love the card but think it's time to move along and open up some design space for other combo cards and mama discount mechanisms.
It would be behind Loatheb for me in the move to Classic ranks

Just remember the good times!
As much as i like the card, i'm ok with it moving out of standard.
The same arguments in favor of it being classic should also apply to any other card. And that's against the idea of standard.
I'm quite sure the combo decks that deserve to survive will do so with new cards.
And wild mode is there anyway, exactly for these cases.
