Disclaimer: idea of this topic is not to actually shame anyone, just have some giggles and chat why some of the cards failed to deliver, how some delivered against all odds and how sometimes we just can't see the whole picture.
Current meta is drawing its last breaths, so it's that time of year to remind ourselves of some honorable community predictions for the current expansion with the discussion how come some of the cards we rated so high failed, and how some of the cards that were rated poorly excelled.
One of the things that really surprised me is Reckless Flurry, it has a score of 81 and comments like "Control Warrior is back baby1!". Unfortunately, i haven't seen this in game once, nor did Control Warrior got back. Actually, it's not in a very good spot. Funny how good cards actually turn out useless depending on the meta.
Grumble, Worldshaker, another huge miss by the community. Comments from "Broken AF", "So much value!" and "Metabreaker" rained on the card topic for days, but our poor Shammy never had the chance to shine in this Warlock Madness.
Hooked Reaver, a 4 mana 7/7(!) with a score of 77 (top tenth highest rated card) is nowhere to be seen. I like this kind of cards, but for now, only one that saw actual gameplay in its time is Drakonid Crusher. Not even Luckydo Buccaneer made the cut back then. What a pity.
Skull of the Man'ari, horrible card with a score of only 52. What a mistake, one of the cards that almost singlehandedly shaped the meta we're in. But who could tell, right?
Looks like Warlock was full of surprises. Possessed Lackey was ranked as 130 out of 135 cards, and it turned out to be a staple in one of the most powerful decks in standard today (if not most powerful). Of course, people voting on cards usually can't see the whole right away, usually rate cards impulsively and don't bother to change votes when the rest of the cards are shown, all of which is perfectly normal. Only the meta can truly show what is actually good.
I would like to use this opportunity to encourage dear Hearthpwners to experiment, with all these cards we have, who knows how many good, unused archetypes lay undiscovered, both in Standard and Wild.
It's very interesting to see which cards were wrongly shamed and which wrongly hyped. Especially a good reminder with new cards being revealed from the Witchwood set now. But will we learn? probably not ;)

Odd CW might actually use it. Since it will be Flamestrike for 5 mana, that being said, it will be easier to accumulate more Armor faster and you might not wanna get rid of it all, so ... we shall see.

While i agree this card hasnt seen play in constructed yet, its one of the most BS cards in arena WL has. Iv seen some disgusting comebacks from this card. I hate it with a passion.
At the Kobolds and Catacombs I didn't give to much attention to the reveals. But people's prediction gets better in time. only people who likes every card annoys me seriously.
Also some people just focuses on, only one aspect of the card like stats mana cost etc. But there is more than those things to decide value of the cards like possible synergies, flexibility of the card, tempo value in specific decks etc.
By the way Skull of the Man'ari is still bad but people simply doesn't use tech cards...
Well, Reckless Flurry never saw play sinply because Sleep with the Fishes is just better and dont make you run cards like 1 mana gain 5 armor to be good. Grumble sucks cos Shaman sucks, nuff said. Hooked Reaver saw fair amount of play in control Warlock before Cubelock became a thing. Skull is good because noone wants to run oozes for some reason, you have like 4 tier 1-2 decks this is good against, i dunno.
The only true missed card is not even Possessed Lackey - its Dark Pact. Turns out, 1 mana deathrattle activator + 8 heals is preeeeeeeeety goood (also cube exists).
You can't really blame people for making some of those bad predictions because most of the votes were made in the day blizzard revealed the card, so the reveal date has huge influence on the card's score.
How can you predict Possessed Lackey will be good before you know a powerful instant activator like Dark Pact exists?
How can you predict Skull of the Man'ari will be good before knowing that most of the other weapons are trash and almost nobody will run weapon removals?
The only valid prediction are the ones made after the entire set has been revealed, we can't really trust those poll result.
Grumble, Worldshaker sees no play, because shaman is really bad, card is still broken imo.
Hooked Reaver sees no play because it interferes with skull/lackey combos. In a world where you rarely play demons directly, you just want stats/effects. I doubt voidlord would be as powerful as it is now if it was forced to be played from hand (can't play sooner than turn 8, can't reliably cube etc.)
I think Reckless Flurry will not see play because it is an odd cost card and I think it would interact better with tank up. Warrior is interesting in this regard. Would you rather have executes and a better hero power or shield slam, shield block, brawl, reckless flurry?
While it has no serious constructed play right now, I'm pretty confused as to why oakheart is rated so low. It fit really well into the previous meta control lock, it had meme potential, and it seemed like everyone was deckbuilding for it at one point.

Too bad Reckless Flurry isn't even costed, it would be really useful.

Actually, Skull of the Man'ari is great because it requires people to play tech cards.
Firebat and Zalae had a discussion a few weeks ago - I can't remember the YT video - about distinguishing between bad cards, and good cards that simply don't see play, because the archetype they belong to either isn't currently viable, or is squeezed out of the meta by a competing deck. Tirion Fordring is one of the best late-game cards ever printed, yet he hasn't seen any play in months for the aforementioned reasons. F and Z spent a good deal of time discussing Grumble - clearly, the card is quite powerful, but if midrange Shaman isn't viable, the card won't ever see play. Dragon Consort is an interesting case in point - a 3-mana 5/5 Dragon is "can't miss" as far as it's individual power level, but since Dragon Paladin wasn't viable, the card never saw any play. The hearthpwn community tends to reject any suggestion of nuance in consideration of whether a card is "good" or "bad" - it's simply digital, either the card sees play and it's good, or it doesn't and it's bad. There is often a good deal more to the story, and ignoring it doesn't help anyone understand the game any better.

The reason Reckless Flurry didn't work is because you either have no armor when you want to use it and it only deals 2 AOE in that case, or you have too much armor to give up (usually 10+). There is rarely a sweet spot. That's why I think this card will continue to see no play outside of a baku deck, even though boardclears are more limited for warrior now with Sleep with the Fishes rotating out.

For example let's look at the warlock cards:
Voidlord: 26 nov
Skull of the Man'ari: 28 nov
Possessed Lackey: 30 nov
Dark Pact: 4 dec
How can you predict that Voidlord will be good if you don't know that Skull of the Man'ari and Possessed Lackey exists?
How can you predict Possessed Lackey will be good before you know a powerful instant activator like Dark Pact exists?

Uma coisa que aprendi aqui na comunidade foi nunca confiar nos julgamentos pré expansões! kkkkk
Hmmm . . .
