OK, do you think the new deathwing card will work in the dragon priest motif? Several of our standard dragons in that deck have battlecries we will miss out on if they some out on the deathrattle. However, revamping the deck to be more control-oriented in the early stages and then with several big finishers in the deck, hopefully to come out for free on just might work. Personally I'll be saving my dust.
Lol what does viable even mean anymore people? Dragon Priest has seen competitive play for a while now and will continue to do so, the new Deathwing is just another good card for the deck but not necessarily a game changer or anything.
I dont think new deathwing is a good fit tbh, its a win more card that can go horribly wrong (bgh into aoe), it negates all battlecries, also assuming perfect draws, you wont be keeping your other dragons on your hand till turn 11, so realisticly it can be used to pull like malygos or yesera for "free", but giving your opponent 1st answer to them.

I see what you mean, it's true the best you can reasonably expect is to get 1 other big dragon out the deathrattle, but assuming you haven't done nothing the rest of the game and aren't already losing horribly, your opponent just had to kill a 12/12. Are they going to have the means to kill 'another' 12 health dragon the very next turn? Maybe... but there is always an answer for everything.
In fact all the 10 Mana cards released so far are imho worse than Varian Wrynn and even he didn't see any top tier play at all,...
Good post ruined by the last statement. N'Zoth is ten time better than Varian. That aside, Priest is the only viable class who can get this big bruiser (the dragonlord) without mess the deck build thanks to Museum Curator
Card might see play with future expansions coming out (e.g. Deathrattle dragons). With this expansion not tough...all the other cards are already pretty good (even like onyxia more than this card with WoG but as I said might be good with future expansions. We need to wait and see...
Dragon Priest was never a 'bad' Deck,... It just wasn't top tier cause it has no reliable way to finish the opponent. And Deathwing, Dragonlord most certainly isn't going to change that, since it isn't a good card. Deathwing, Dragonlord is insanely slow, does absolutely nothing the turn he hits the board and falls victim to every silence, taunt, freeze or Aldor Peacekeeper effect. Furthermore there are basically less than a handful of Dragons, which are even worth to be triggered by him: Ysera, Chillmaw and Nozdormu (for lulz and cheese). To a lesser extent Chromaggus, Malygos and Coldarra Drake for the turn after. All the others require their Battlecry for value or are just plain piles of stats. In fact all the 10 Mana cards released so far are imho worse than Varian Wrynn and even he didn't see any top tier play at all,...
while I won't argue that Varian Wrynn is better than the new Deathwing, Dragonlord, I wouldn't say he's better than ALL the 10 drops released so far. N'Zoth the Corruptor I think is better since it has the possibility of filling a board minions and doesn't put you into fatigue. I can easily see a few 2nd tier decks out of this card. DEFINITLY top tier wild decks... like... stupid wild decks...
like think of a fatigue mage... duplicate Sludge Belchers... turn 10 4 Sludge Belchers. or Sneed's for days. plus a few more shenanigans. Stalag fugen.. its going to be pandemonium in wild..
but not wild.. ya i still like my Deathwing over Deathwing, Dragonlord just for control matchups / yolo plays in my reno dragon warrior
Definitely could work in Standard, but even in Wild turn 1 2/3, 2/4 taunt on turn 2, 3/5 on turn 3, 3/6 taunt on turn 4 is tough for any deck to keep up with. I'm guessing the best post-Old Gods decks will win on turn 5 or 50.
I don't see Deathwing, Dragonlord fitting Dragon priest which is a midrange deck with an optional finisher like Ysera. It's not meant to be a top heavy deck but I guess we will see some variations but I doubt they will work.
Fact remains that the damn thing is a 12/12 that must be dealt with just because of its statline. The deathrattle is a bonus.
People would probably play regular Deathwing if it weren't for the discarding. A 12/12 for 10 isn't bad at all and can easily win the game by itself if BGH weren't such a piece of shit.

Yes.
(I don't know about "suddenly"; it was already a pretty good deck, but yes.)

Yeah, perhaps 'suddenly' was overstating it, I certainly enjoy playing it, but it wasn't looking all that top-tier for WOG.
Dragon Priest has not been "unviable" for a long time...I've seen Dragon Priest at legend multiple times, its not that "weak" of a contructed deck
Not only that , but priest i think will wreck most of the new deck after the release :)

I think it's been viable this entire time, but now it might be meta-defining.
My name is ProudNitro. I am a theorycrafter and a custom card creator. I also make tier lists for expansions. Here's one for Whispers.

If BGH isn't nerfed, people will just autoinclude double BGHs/owls to deal with all the big dragons. People will then stop playing big minions. :(

Just remember the good times!
THIS WILD DECK IS AWESOME!!!!
I don't think Deathwing, Dragonlord is actually good. Its alright.

If any deck can make Deathwing, Dragonlord work, it will be warrior in my opinion.
I think Dragon Priest is in wait and see mode for a replacement for Velen's Chosen. You really need to buff all those 2 and 3 attack minions.
