With Medivh, The Guardian (old Tempo Version of the deck, start of the expansion):
I present you Luzkan Aggro Secret Weapon Mage!
Have fun with this deck when everyone will just pull out crappy decks like we always do at the start of new season. I'll try to polish this deck as soon as meta settles but at this moment it's a rush climb to legend.

1. Mulligan:
The Meta actually isn't random anymore. Now mulligan is key to success. Here is the general good-to-go mulligan phase, but for all the details that from time to time give you an additional win - check out my stream! :)
Against Anything:
(Mana Wyrm / Arcanologist / Frostbolt / Primordial Glyph)
You can never go wrong with those. But not only that.
➼ Keep Kabal Lackey if you have ➼ Useful Secret at T1
➼ Keep Kirin Tor Mage if you have ➼ Useful Secret at T3
➼ Keep Kirin Tor Mage if you have ➼ Useful Secret & Coin
➼ Keep Kirin Tor Mage if you have ➼ Arcanologist
➼ Keep Kabal Crystal Runner if you have ➼ A nice (1, 2, 3: Secret Curve)
➼ Keep Aluneth if you are ➼ not against aggro deck/class.
2. Why this deck rekts things:
It's pretty much self-explanatory.
- Mage got ultra strong tempo card which is Explosive Runes
- Mage got ultra strong card draw with Aluneth.
- People are trying random things.
- People actually got burned to face and no deck run water bucket to stop it.
- Praise the burn spells! :)

4. How did the old tempo version looked like:
I switched from Tempo to Aggro at 11/12/2017. By that time my winratio again went up. I highly suggest the new Aggro version the higher in ranks you are. To play the old tempo just switch these cards back:
- -1 Kabal Lackey
- -1 Ice Block
- -1 Pyroblast
- -2 [card]Sorcerer's Apprentice[/card]
- +2 Firelands Portal
- +1 Spellbender
- +1 Ethereal Arcanist
- +1 Medivh, the Guardian
5. Summary:
This is a live guide/deck/thread. As long as I have time for it, i'll keep this updated.

In this spoiler is just old text about Tempo version of my deck. It's still working so if you want to have a read, here it is! :)
1. Testing at this moment:
The fallowing is old and outdated.
Because of the amount of secrets I think about Ehereal Arcanist as a great minion companied with Counterspell and Spellbender but is it better than Bittertide Hydra?
[ Ethereal Arcanist | Bittertide Hydra ]
Using the suggestion from user "targeting" i swaped Bittertide Hydra for Medivh, The Guardian. Didn't impact the winratio right now - I mean - winstreak is still going, altough felt much better in Priest matchup where I can stop drawing from the legendary weapon and get huge value out of Firelands Portals. Slot 5 is anyway almost busy due to 3+2 mana cards in the deck (including reduced price of Kabal).
[ Bittertide Hydra | Medivh, the Guardian ]
2. The Meta:
So we ran into some problems sadly. The deck was meta defining and as a result other decks pop-out as a counter to this deck. Deck has no longer any problems aside from Aggro Paladin. Rekts everything else.
There are two decks that ruins the free legend every time for players using this deck.
Spell Hunter (43% WR) and Aggro Paladins (46%) are very good against our Mage. That wouldn't be a problem right? Only two decks are prepared to destroy us. But... not really if these two decks are the most popular decks on the ladder.
It's like the paper/stone/scissors game. We are beating everyone. Aggro Paladin and Spell Hunter beats us. And everyone is beating Aggro Paladin and Spell Hunter (well, kind-of).
So what can we do about it?
Here comes the help with tech cards. But... it's not that easy actually. Spell Hunter is spell based while Aggro Paladin floods the board. Eater of Secrets works only against Hunter (and it's a weak tech choice, cause he will be playing secrets on turn 2 and i'm not sure if 1 eater of secrets will have any impact on the game). Gluttonous Ooze works against Eaglehorn Bow and in other matchups it can have an impact as well - like Pirate Warrior or Legendary Weap from Warlock etc. 3/3 body for 3 isn't as terrible as 2/4 for 4. So it's and improvement but is it enough? And it doesn't really help against Aggro Paladin. I was thinking about Frost Nova to stop the board from killing us while we are looking for the finishing burn cards. Maybe a second Ice Block? That's really hard to wrap my mind about what will be the best in that situation.
Overall if you just play the deck, you'll still win about 60% of time. It means that if you play, let's say, 1000 games, you probably will win 600 games and lose 400 of them. So if you are desperate enough, you can hit easy legend that way ^^. Looking for a discussion about the tech cards in the comments! :)
3. Overall winratio & Hunter problem:
Some stats and tips. Kinda old, but still okay.
Turns out this deck is insane - hitting global 60% winratio.
Deck is stomping on all clases except it's even (50% wr) against Paladin and bad against Hunter (43% wr). Hunter is a great counter due to playing no minions and making our deck really meh to play against that. I'll copy here my comment about that situation:
"Do not keep Frostbolt without Mana Wyrm / Arcanologist / Primordial Glyph. Generally you wan't minions and pressure. Don't keep Kirin/Kabal if your secret is Explosive Runes.
Hunter is the control, Mage is the aggro in this match up. Pressure him. Throw cards for tempo even if they don't bring you value with their battlecries unless it's highly not recommended by the situation on the table. Keep in mind that they have 6x removals that deal 3 damage (sadly that's the number of hp on most of our creeps). But so - 4 of their cards summon 3/3 wofles and our cards are great at dealing 3 dmg as well.
Most importantly: HUNTER'S CANT HEAL THEMSELVES.
While tempo-ing out also deal little bits of damage to their face and pay attention to the cards in your deck. What's the chance of drawing lethal in 1/2 turns? How to set up a burn plan? Etc."
After trying several variations, I had most success with this version. Reached legend today with a 75%ish winrate over the last 50 games after i swapped to the linked version. Only class I had real problems against was paladin obviously, and also to some extent jade druids due to the massive armor gain and taunts. Other common classes were 8-1 priest, 11-1 rogue, 8-2 warlock.
Absolute trash tier deck, no corridor creepers and patches?
there is no replacements for http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/55552-primordial-glyph i guess ?
It is hard to replace Primordial Glyph. It gives you nice synergies with Mana Wyrm and you can pick a spell which fits to the situation (of course, sometimes you get only bad choices).
If you want to replace it you should just check for cheap damage spells or maybe Wolfrider.
Ice block just saved me 5 games, vs aggro. it's the only way to top deck the last bit of damage you need to kill your opponent.
Plus, it mess the opponent trying to figure what secret you played.. most secret mages are 2 counterspells, 2 explosive runes, easy to figure out..
How do you deal with Jade druids? Seems like they always ramp too fast into too heavy armor gains unless you get lucky with draw and they get really unlucky. Once they play DK at after a few turns of ramp you can basically concede.
Its curious because in 46 games i only had 2 games against Druid (all Jade). The first one was very easy. He ramp turn after turn with zero consequences basically. Meanwhile i had a full board with a lots of burn in hand. Easy one. The other one well, was a pain in the ass. The principal problem was the fuc* Plagues. Two in a row i couldn't get pass damage enough to kill him with the burn later.
This is a good deck to climb yes, but has problems off course. And for me is aggros/tempo rogues.
I'm getting druids very often for some reason and it's literally impossible to keep up with the armor gains and large taunts they put up.
+/-
In this game for example I got through against 3 taunts (3/6) and 12 armor. But if he uses the second Branching Paths was GG for me almost for sure.
And people said Pirates were cancer.
With the decks card draw and burn spell theme, would swapping Pyroblast for Bloodmage Thalnos improve the deck? Seems like the point is to burn before turn 10 and even if I get to turn 10 Pyroblast is generally overkill. Though considering how Ice Block gets in the way of drawing Explosive Runes early game, it might be worth swapping one out for Thalnos instead.
hi there, this deck seems great but i lack the pyro and one ice block, so could somebody tell me some replacement for those please?
really best deck i've tried, mostly win at turn 6 or 7, fast and stable
here my 2 games which win at turn 4, my fastest win until now and win at turn 6. enjoy :)

Well... So far so good.
Rank 20 to 14 with no more then 16 games. Next step rank 10.
Rank 10.
Know, i will see if i can reach rank 5.
btw, my "version" (its the same i know) of the deck. I don't have a pryo so i use one Portal. Not so good yes, but and so far nothing to say against about it.
A different deck. You need Medivh's Valet. He's too good.
Aluneth replace?
I use Leeroy so I have more firepower, but you could use Coldlight for card draw.
Any changes you would suggest making to deal with the current extremely aggro meta? Seems like 80% of the opponents are some form of board flooding aggro decks that are quite unfavorable for this.
Aggro is the weakness of this deck. I have tried 2 Volcanic Potion in place of 2 counterspell, and was able to beat Aggro Pally at least 50/50 chance. Reason why I removed counterspell is that it is easily gets play around in the meta. Although Volcanic Potion is bad vs Priest and Warlock matchup, but we already have good win rate VS them. I also think 1 spellbreaker should be in, replacing maybe fireland portal.
