Hi, everyone! My name is Cheelmind and I am a casual HS player from Russia who hit legend couple of times in past few months.

As the new expansion Kobolds and Catacombs has arrived I am trying out a lot of new decks and post the ones I like and that are really competitive on ladder (with gameplay videos)  so other people can achieve  the legend rank too. Here is a Highlander Dragon priest.

Edit: If you encounter a lot of Hunt alone hunters and tempo secret mages just get a Eater of Secrets instead of 3-4 cost minion or instead of a Skulking Geist.

I meet like 35 % of Hunter and Mages and only like 8 present of druid so I went for Eater of Secrets . If you feel that one silence in term of Kabal Songstealer is not enough then get Spellbreaker instead of Eater of Secrets

Made following adjustments:

Changed Harrison Jones for Gluttonous Ooze because Harrison was way too slow and the meta is still quite aggressive and Gluttonous Ooze  is 2 mana cheaper. Works great against hunter

Also swapped Dragonslayer  for Saronite Chain Gang because I was able you utilize his battle cry only once and another 4 drop taunt two bodies is great especially buffed by Prince Keleseth.

here are my stats from rank 13 to 8 and last 5-9 matches at rank 4-2 :

Duskbreaker - This card is just insane, while playing highlander you are very often in a reactive/defensive position in the beginning of the game and turn four board clear and a dragon body is just what priest really needed.

 

Twilight Acolyte  is another great addition with dragon synergy that is very flexible and is great dealing with big early threats like Edwin VanCleef, Bittertide Hydra as well as big late drops.

Psychic ScreamIn my opinion a fantastic card to stall the game and get you out of hopeless situations, for example, when you are facing a big druid and you have 7 mana while he has already ramped up to ten and got Kun the Forgotten King, Y'Shaarj, Rage Unboundand who knows what else on the table in one turn. This card is also a great answer to Bloodreaver Gul'dan and new Dragoncaller Alanna.

There are also some great new common cards that in my opinion will fit great in this deck:

Dragonslayer this card has a great value. There are so many decks out there that run Cobalt Scalebane nowadays and this card is a perfect answer and has playable stats for 3 mana even with out battle cry.

Lone Champion this very similar to Tar Creeper and I feel it will feather improve our chances to pass early game in a good shape. This deck has only 1  drop for 2 mana Prince Keleseth, so good three drops are very important.

Other card are from previous expansions but I would like to say some word about another two cards which will in my opinion get increased value in KaC.

Harrison Jones As this expansion adds legendary weapon to every class I feel this card will truly shine and will be very handy especially in deck which lack card draw like this one where  we have only  Northshire Cleric,Power Word: Shield and Acolyte of Pain  and Kazakus sometimes for card draw.

Skulking Geist Not only it is great against Druids removing Jade Idol, Earthen Scales, Mark of the Lotus, Evolve Shamans Evolve,  getting reed of bunch of priest one mana cost spells in OTK Prophet VelenHighlander priest and burns Warlock Mortal Coil and Soulfire. In this expansion there are another 5 strong cards which get burned : Unstable Evolution and Lesser Jasper Spellstone, Psionic Probe, Dark Pact and Barkskin.

Win conditions:

This deck is not purely based on drawing Raza the Chained and Shadowreaper Anduin and burning down your opponent with machine gun hero power.  You have many strong and effective minions which can even be further buffed by Prince Keleseth, 7 dragons two of whom with aoe Duskbreaker, Primordial Drake, one with card steal Drakonid Operative, one with deathrattle Bone Drake. so I this deck can fight for board and come back when losing with help of massive board clears in terms of Dragonfire Potion, Psychic Scream,Shadowreaper Anduin..

Mulligan versus agro and tempo:

In this kind of deck I think it is better to mulligan assuming you are facing aggro or tempo deck. against all classes except Priest  and Warrior (pirates are not that popular with warrior any more)

You always keep Prince Keleseth, any one drop for one mana (no need to keep two, if you need to choose which one drop to keep get Mistress of Mixtures or Fire Fly over other two. You also want to keep Potion of Madness.

In case you already have one drop you can keep any three drop except Twilight Acolyte.

With coin you definitely keep Kazakus,

Mulligan versus control:

If you face Priest or Warrior it is going to be some kind of control so you keep  Raza the Chained and Shadowreaper Anduin. also  always keep Prince Keleseth andKazakus. Curious Glimmerroot is also a great against control. If you do not have those 5 cards just mulligan for them aggressively.

I hope you will give this deck a try in couple of days once we all get new Kobolds and Catacombs cards.
