Depending on what the meta is like and how many weapon decks you see, you can sub out one or both Raven Familiar for Acidic Swamp Ooze
Tons of elemental synergy to upgrade your Lesser Ruby Spellstone quickly.
Raven Familiar has a 5 out of 9 chance to draw you a big spell, or even higher chances if you keep a spellstone or glyph in your opening hand. Most aggro decks won't be running any big spells so this gives you an even higher chance to draw a card.
There are 5 big spells in the deck, all of which are board clears. This is to help stall the game as well as set up Dragoncaller Alanna for a huge turn.
Turn 6 is meant to be a huge swing turn as you can play Meteor or Blizzard into Arcane Tyrant and then follow up on Turn 7 with a Blazecaller.
All the early and mid game elementals are there to power you through into the late game against aggro until your game winning cards such as Dragoncaller Alanna and Frost Lich Jaina come into play.
Cards you should always keep in your opening hand are: Fire Fly, Lesser Ruby Spellstone, Raven Familiar, Primordial Glyph, Shimmering Tempest, and Tar Creeper.
12/3 changes:
- 2 Firelands Portal, - 2 Spiteful Summoner, - 1 Flamestrike
+ 2 Primordial Glyph, + 2 Arcane Artificer, + 1 Meteor
These changes were made to help the early game of the deck and increase the chances of beating aggro while still keeping the core finishers of the deck.
12/6 changes:
+1 Pyros
It was pointed out to me that Leyline Manipulator discounts all cards that didn't start in your deck, not just spells. So the synergy of being able to plop down a 2 or 4 mana 6/6 or 6 or 8 mana 10/10 is too good to pass up. Plus Pyros offers more value for the late game.
Update 12/20: swapped out 2 x raven familiar for 1 x Igneous Elemental and 1 x Medivh, the Guardian. Medivh creates more value in the late game and igneous elemental provides 3 elementals in 1 card to charge up your spellstone or just to ensure Blazecallercan trigger when needed.
In my opinion, I'd run Pyros in that deck instead of Igneous Elemental. It has synergy with Lesser Ruby Spellstone and Leyline Manipulator. Dropping Leyline Manipulator on the 2nd or 3rd Pyros is pretty significant since you get a 6/6 for 4 mana or 10/10 for 8 mana. It's a pretty big treat as well as a great source of healing if you already played Frost Lich Jaina!
TL;DR -1 Igneous Elemental +1 Pyros
do you think jaina is needed for this? I had a golden one, but dusted her as was too much dust to pass up on and I don't tend to keep golds. I am looking to play mage again in K&C though so will see what happens.
Have you though about playing Steam Surger instead of Water Elemental?
I think you need to run 2x Tolvir Stoneshaper... you have 0 plan against aggro (other than playing a tar creeper, thats basically your anti-aggro plan). Currently there seem to be 0 aggresive cards in KnC but i would wait for the final revealdump to see if aggro will really die next expansion
Edit: Glacial Shard could also help with aggro
Edit2: Update the deck and put Dragons Fury in ;)
I would 100% play Primordial Glyph instead of the spellstone. I know it hinders the deck a little but the card is absolutely busted against aggro.
Other than that I like the direction you're taking it in.
Against aggro you would need 2 elementals, or firefly, and the spellstone in your opening hand to get 2 random spells early in the game. Those spells are less likely to address your current situation rather than a glyph that gives you 3 choices and a 2 mana discount. With Glypth you can score a free frostbolt, a 1 mana Volcanic potion, or 2 mana fireball, the list goes on.
