Deck Aims
The aim of the deck was to create a hopefully viable combo for Moorabi. Firstly its worth noting that this is never going to be a tiered deck but something fun that is hopefully working at this stage of the expansion. So what I ended up doing was trying to keep the board clear, drawing a bunch of stuff and finally slamming down a whole load of 0 cost Snowfury Giant's. Below is a few ways to handle this.
Main Combo, Synergy and things worth doing
The combo's all assume you've lowered the giant costs to 0.
- 2x Snowfury Giant (frozen) on board / 2x Snowfury Giant added to hand.
9 mana: Snowfury Giant / Snowfury Giant / Moorabi / Hyldnir Frostrider - 1x Snowfury Giant +6/+6 (frozen) on board / 2x Snowfury Giant added to hand.
10 mana: Snowfury Giant / Moorabi / 2x Cryostasis
- Snowfury Giant + Faceless Shambler - Try doing this the turn before going off with Moorabi and you'll get so much more value out of it.
- Hide your Mana Tide Totem behind taunts! Thing from Below works pretty well with this. Feral Spirit is another great barrier too, you just want to get the best value you can.
- Beware of Overload before dropping Moorabi! Really easy to get trigger happy with 4 overloaded mana crystals...
Things I've tried
- Arcane Giant
- I actually removed this for Flamewreathed Faceless. Its still big and whilst it doesn't assist in the actual combo side later on its a big threat that can later save your Snowfury Giant from removal.
- Glacial Shard / Frost Shock / Brrrloc
- Big issues here is that actually when we use our Moorabi we want to be able to freeze our own stuff and this doesn't do that. Most decks on ladder right now are running lots of small things and 7+ mana for a 2 drop isn't that good.
- We have enough removal that the board control the freeze effects give us aren't as good as throwing down a Volcano.
- Eternal Sentinel
- We can actually cope with the overload pretty well from turn to turn so it often felt like I wanted to hold this back for a big clear of 3+ locked crystals which was rare. Just didn't make an impact.
- Ancestral Spirit / Earth Elemental
- I kinda felt for an overload heavy deck this should work pretty well and in some cases it did. I originally removed it for Arcane Giant's and had better results with them and have since had a better result with Flamewreathed Faceless so I'd say that its just a bit too clunky in an already clunky deck.
Things I'd like to try
- Spirit Echo
- I think this could be a great tool. It may actually be an even better option than Hyldnir Frostrider as sometimes you just don't feel like you can get 2 of them off but hitting Spirit Echo on a raw Snowfury Giant could be a decent way to spend 10 or below mana.
Mulligan Tips
- Vs. Priest:
- Lava Burst / Mana Tide Totem / Lightning Bolt
- Some good single target removals for Priest and potentially not much to oppose a Mana Tide Totem making it worth hanging onto.
- Vs. Mage:
- High variety with mage so I tend to go with...
Lightning Bolt / Lightning Storm- Bolt for the Mana Wyrm and Storm for the Elementals.
- High variety with mage so I tend to go with...
- Vs. Aggro/Tempo (Druid/Rogue/Shaman/Paladin/Hunter):
- Lightning Storm / Feral Spirit / With Coin keep Volcano
This deck is absolute garbage! Lost 4 games in a row in casual haha but I love the creativity ;)
Haha sounds about right. I last tested it when I hit rank 15, was running around 40%. Going to give it another go when I get to rank 5.
I reached legend today for the first time. The best part about it is that I can play fun meme decks like this without worrying about losing my rank. I actually won 2 out of 4 games.
One against Tempo Rogue, where I just kept on clearing his board until he ran out of stuff and I overwhelmed him with big minions. And one against Big Priest, which was a pretty close game. Moorabi carried by giving me 2 additional Giants and a Thing from below.
The combos you can pull off with Moorabi are actually really strong! I just wish the card wasn't a 6 mana 4/4.... It might actually be viable...
Btw I hope you don't mind, but I posted your deck into J4ckieChan's Wacky Wednesday reddit, so he could play it. I gave you credit as the deck builder though.
Cool deck and thanks 4 the explanation!
