*UPDATE*
With the new expansion out, I think it'd be wise to not invest in this deck quite yet as the meta will be changing and I don't want you all wasting dust. Thanks for the support :)
Introduction:
Standard Evolve Shaman used to get to rank 5. While evolve shaman is no longer as strong as it once was, this deck is still in the meta and has constantly gotten me to higher ranks. The deck has 2 main win conditions:
- Overload the board and Bloodlust by turn 5 or 6.
- Doppelgangster/Saronite Chain Gang and evolve giving insane value.
It is also possible to win otherwise by just consistently overrunning the board and playing cheap Thing from Below to beat your opponent before they get their combos. Thrall, Deathseer is also another card in this deck which can be quite useful but usually by the time you want to play it you're already most likely in a good position and you are completely stomping on your opponent.
Alterations:
If you don't have a billion dust like everyone else expects you to have then here are a few cards you can swap out if you need to:
- Patches the Pirate + 2x Bloodsail Corsair for 2x Argent Squire + Stonehill Defender.
- Thrall, Deathseer for Fire Elemental.
Yes this wont quite have the same ring to it if you don't have these two legendaries but it will still work. The main function of this deck is to either be aggressive or get those evolve combos going.
If you do happen to have infinite dust and/or cards then one change that you could make is to switch out one Saronite Chain Gang for Aya Blackpaw to get bigger and more Jade Golems.
It's also possible to change this deck to make it more control-like. This would mean including things such as Lightning Storm for early game board removal and using Stonehill Defender for the opponents little guys. A Hex could also be useful for that one big guy you cant deal with. Also now that Marin the Fox is out, you could incorporate him and you would get value from evolving an 8 drop and breaking the chest.
Mulligan:
Most of the time you want to keep any of your 2 drops and lower but in some instances it's better to have different 2 drops for different opponents.
Shaman - Bloodsail Corsair, Fire Fly, Jade Claws, Primalfin Totem and Flametongue Totem
Warlock - Bloodsail Corsair, Fire Fly, Jade Claws, Primalfin Totem and Flametongue Totem
Paladin - Bloodsail Corsair, Fire Fly, Jade Claws, Primalfin Totem and Flametongue Totem
Warrior - Bloodsail Corsair, Fire Fly, Jade Claws, Flametongue Totem and Maelstrom Portal
Hunter - Bloodsail Corsair, Fire Fly, Jade Claws, Flametongue Totem and Maelstrom Portal
Druid - Bloodsail Corsair, Fire Fly, Jade Claws, Primalfin Totem and Flametongue Totem
Priest - Bloodsail Corsair, Fire Fly, Jade Claws, Primalfin Totem and Flametongue Totem
Rogue - Bloodsail Corsair, Fire Fly, Jade Claws, Devolve (For VanCleef) and Maelstrom Portal
Mage - Bloodsail Corsair, Fire Fly, Jade Claws, Primalfin Totem and Flametongue Totem
In most cases Bloodsail Corsair, Fire Fly and Jade Claws are always kept but cards like devolve will only be kept for cases like Edwin VanCleef or for a full board buffed by Prince Keleseth. Devolve can also be kept for when Druids play either Spreading Plague or Living Mana. Playing coin into Primalfin Totem can also be good for putting pressure on your opponent and forcing them to deal with it or die.
Advice:
- Fire Fly is on of the best 1 drops in the game but it is also effective if you use your mana efficiently. An example of this is instead of playing Fire Fly and the 1/2 it produces on turn 3, you can play Fire Fly and hero power for a totem. This gives you value in other ways because you could be reducing the cost of Thing from Below and/or getting spell damage for a bigger Maelstrom Portal.
- Playing Doppelgangster and Evolve is pretty much the best it's gonna get. So if you can hold on to a coin to be able to do that on turn 5, don't hesitate. It's three 6 drops for 6 mana!
- Coin Primalfin Totem is effective for bringing out your opponents removal and also for a turn 2 Flametongue Totem.
- Evolve doesn't just have to be used for Doppelgangster or Saronite Chain Gang, it can also be used on a full board of 1 and 2 drops from your side to get the extra little bit of attack or health to avoid a board wipe or get lethal next turn.
- REMEMBER the 1 mana overload from Jade Claws which could prevent you from playing a Doppelgangster and Evolve or a Mana Tide Totem next turn.
Important Note:
While this is a guide giving you advice on tips that work in most cases, it is not the rules telling you how to play the game. If you find that you want to play a Doppelgngster on its own so that you can Bloodlust next turn, knock your socks off. Make sure that you are somewhat sticking to the basic mechanics of this deck though or else you wont be seeing rank 5 for a while.
Leave a comment if you'd like to see anything else being played in this deck or think you have some cool tips to improve the deck.
(-: ENJOY :-)
I have to say this deck is working really well for me right now. Currently 27-6(82%) with all the Warlocks, Paladins and Priests on ladder. I did make one change however; I replaced one Primalfin Totem with one Primal Talismans as I feel it gives you a stickier board. Good for those times when you are stuck with two Bloodlust's in your hand and need the board to finish. Just my thoughts.
I feel as though Primal Ralismans can be nice if you already have a board and want to keep it that way for a potential Bloodlust but other than that I feel as though it doesn't help with the aggressiveness or board presence of this deck and can be a weak draw. Thanks for the suggestion though :) Also what rank did you reach?
Rank 10 for now, I switched decks for fun but will most likely go back to this one when I want to start climbing again.
Is unstable evolution going to be played?
I'm sure It's a great card in this deck but i'm currently in the process of testing out other decks so I'll come back to you on that one.
So i've got everything on the list except Thrall(i put in fire elemental as suggested). This season is the first season im actually moving through the rankings thanks to this deck. Despite the shit ton of board wipes im able to push through dopple+evovle or just cheap drops and blood lust. If I change out that fire elemental for thrall, will it really make a big diff? I have a good chunk of dust, but im not sure if i should save it for the next expansion(i pre-ordered and only saved around 6k gold for packs).
If you're really invested in this deck then I'd recommend getting it. Atm however, it might be a good time to wait until you spend your dust because the new expansion has just come out and the meta will slightly change.
I love this deck, got legend with a very similar deck last September, was not easy against all the priest but over time my win rate against them got better and better. Even crafted two golden evolves for the fun of it, You have all kinds of shenanigans evolving, people love to hate on the rng but it works both ways, you have to take many calculated risks and adjust strategy a lot based on the matchup. Very flexible deck, wish there were more on ladder that are flexible and good
Love the golden evolves XD gives you all kinda of fun playing this deck
I do feel like taking out Bloodlust does defeat the purpose of this deck and Elise the Trailblazer only adds to the RNG side of this deck. I also think that it's the most annoying thing ever when you draw two Bloodlust.
I'll give it a try and see what happens. Thanks for the great comment :)
It's more so that people can try Elise the Trailblazer out and put it in if they want to. I'm probably going to take it out but I like the addition of Bonemare.
i don't have the blood sail corsair but i have southsea deckhand is that a good sub? I also haven't done one night in kharazan so no portle
If you don't have the two Bloodsail Corsair but you do have Patches the Pirate, then I'd recommend you craft them otherwise swap them and Patches the Pirate for the substitutes I mentioned up above. You can also put in Lightning Storm for Maelstrom Portal but it wont be quite as aggressive.
another nice evolve shaman deck and guide
here my 2 games vs shaman and warlock. enjoy :)

Despite I did legend with a deck like this, few seasons ago, I have to say that in this meta is not very strong.
I easily reached rank 5 during the first week (big druid), then I stopped playing quite a lot. I am back now, and in the last few days I am trying many different decks (trying to avoid cancers!) but I am stuck. So I said "let's try again the ol' good shaman", but no, negative winrate for me.
I can agree with you there, while this deck is still good, it doesn't reach the ranks it used too. Good on you for not playing cancer decks.
What is a cancer deck? Keleseth now is a cancer? Jade is cancer? I think Big/Razakus priest and Secret Mage/Exodia mage are really toxic cancer decks. The other ones like aggro druid or rogue not much once they play with cheap cards and has to be smart to win, not like some control cancer decks. I think both of u are crying babys =)
Generally people say tier 1 decks are cancer because someone with less skill can win just because of the OP of the deck, and because they are everywhere. Playing all day against the same 2 or 3 decks is boring, and I think bad for the game. But it just my opinion, I guess Blizzard thinks otherwise.
would it be worthwhile to craft aya blackpaw for this deck as well?
EDIT: also, any videos on this deck?
Aya is definitley a fine addition to this deck but you don't need to get it. And I'm not sure about the video yet.
