Due to the overwhelming support I'm getting from you guys on this deck, I decided to make a video guide for it. If you like it, please like and subscribe to let me know you want me to do more decks and videos like this:
I just went 9-1 with this deck in standard climbing from rank 5 to rank 4, beating 4 Prince Rogue, 1 Zoo Warlock, 1 Control Warlock, 1 Quest Mage, 1 Frost Lich Jaina Control Mage and 1 Big Druid. The only loss came to a Prince Rogue that got an early Edwin VanCleef I couldn't deal with. EDIT: After playing a lot more games, the win rate came down to reality, but still a respectable 55% at rank 3.
This takes the standard Zoo deck and cuts Bloodreaver Gul'dan and a Bonemare for double Sea Giant. We also include two Dark Iron Dwarf to help your minions trade up, double Saronite Chain Gang to stall the board and fuel your Sea Giant and we eschew Acherus Veteran in favor of Glacial Shard.
Losing the Deathknight feels incorrect at first, but in reality these games are ending turns 8-10, the DK just isn't relevant right now.
It's a little counter-intuitive to include Sea Giant as a counter to Rogue because they run Vilespine Slayer, but
- Because we run no AoE, Rogues feel free to dump out every creature in their hand, making our Giants cheap,
- They won't always draw the Vilespine,
- We have plenty of other targets for them to 'spine in Tar Creeper, Doomguard, Despicable Dreadlord, and Bonemare. Basically, we have more big threats than they have 'spines.

Quick and dirty Mulligan Guide:
The general mulligan plan is "if it costs more than 4, throw it back". I'm having trouble thinking of a 4+ drop that I would keep in my opener, regardless of opponent, just pitch them back. In addition, you also obviously always throw Patches the Pirate back. I also never keep Soulfire, it's a card better drawn.
Against all classes, you are looking for and keeping (obviously) Prince Keleseth, Fire Fly, Flame Imp, and Voidwalker. Darkshire Councilman and Southsea Captain are kept on the coin, but you can consider tossing them back if you don't have the coin. I usually keep them myself. If you think your opponent is control, you always throw back Glacial Shard and Malchezaar's Imp.
Changes
If you like the deck but want to change it up, these cards are not considered "core" and you can try substituting them for other cards in the list (see discussion in the thread here http://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/class-discussion/warlock/206508-prince-keleseth-sea-giant-deck-90-win-rate-at-rank):
Glacial Shard can sub out for Acherus Veteran, Bloodsail Corsair.
Based on community response and my own testing, this deck is different from the original version (and the video guide). The changes were -1 Dark Iron Dwarf -1 Tar Creeper +1 Bonemare +1 Leeroy Jenkins. Thumbs up to the community for these changes.
southsea captain so rare card to get still dont have it since 2014...
You may need to bite the bullet and craft that one, my friend. :)
I D/E'd this card a while back, but do not regret recrafting them as I played a few games this afternoon and instantly noticed their value. even with a keleseth, a 2/2 patches, then if you have a second sothsea to drop as well with out loosing patches and the first one is nasty. I run in a deck with defender of argus too, so using this card on your 2 southsea captains is amazing. I never got my keleseth off in the few games I played, but can imagine the headache you can cause to your opponent.
zoolock is god.
I'm glad you're having better success against Big Druid! That is a difficult deck to beat and I'm glad we're doing it.
The matchup against Rogue (assuming tempo, not miracle) is not a race, it's about board control. Honestly this matchup is still tough, because their hero power, Backstab, SI:7 Agent and Vilespine Slayer all help them control the board a little better than we do. Our best shot at winning is to get our overstatted minions out (Flame Imp, Doomguard, Patches via Captain) and use them trade 2 for 1, and use the Dark Iron Dwarf to get our little guys to eat some of their bigger guys. Then, once the dust clears, our hero power should help us get extra resources to close out the game. EDITED TO ADD: The other thing to do is to track their hand and get a feel for whether you think they are holding Bonemare. If you think they do (for example, if they have been holding a card since early turns) on turn 6, if you can, make sure they have an empty board. Even if you think they don't have it, If you can go into Bonemare turn where you have a board and they don't (and you have Bonemare), the game is pretty much over at that point. Same goes for them, in reverse. They're going to try to do the same to you. This is just general advice for any deck that runs Bonemare, and it applies to Murloc Paladin w/Spikeridged Steed.
As good as Sea Giant has been in the lower ranks, at rank 1 they are not turning out to be that good, unfortunately. Both decks are pumping out small minions but we are just using them to kill the other's minions and the board keeps ending up clear. From rank 5-3 they were good, rank 2 they were OK, rank 1 I am thinking about taking them out :(
also what would you replace the sea giants with? maybe use the pink flying dinosaur one? I know it's a much lower cost card, but it's great when it gets going (sorry, I forgot the name of this card)
Nope, was meant to be Doomguard and I typed out the wrong card. Fixed it, thanks for pointing it out. I'm not sure what I'd replace Sea Giant with yet, haven't given it too much thought.
maybe that pink, flying dinosaur one that gives you bonuses when you attack the face!? I forget the name of the card, but I love it and have had tons of good games using this.
I forgot to mention, Darkshire Councilman is an important board control card vs Rogue as it usually survives killing 1-2 minions, so mull a bit harder for that than you otherwise would. Also, you can try swapping Tar Creeper in for Saronite Chain Gang. Chain Gang is a stronger card overall IMO but Creeper is better at blunting your opponents aggression and tempo.
maybe put the saronite's in instead of sea giant? I am playing a very defensive zoolock right now with a lot of taunts in it, and it works extremely well.
I can upload deck if you'd like to check it out. I think the deck is rather standard though, only mine has more taunts.
if I wanted to add a second bonemare, would would you advise replacing? also have you tried using jenkins yet? I'd maybe like to do those 2 changes, not sure what to switch out though.
I love zoolock and this is my 3rd iteration in this meta that I'll be alternating between. I also seen a one that uses the new "marin" card i might try out... buying "doom" when old gods rotates out soon though seems redundant.
If you wanted to use Leeroy Jenkins and a second Bonemare, I'd cut Tar Creeper and either 1 Dark Iron Dwarf or 1 Glacial Shard. Edited for formatting
I will see what works. I just crafted a couple of glacial shards so will probs take out the others. (you think a second bonemare is needed?)
PS: I was "herald of nurgle" on your youtube video earlier as well, ha ha. (many aliases)
I think a second bonemare is best but run the deck without for a while and see what you like. You might end up wanting to play it a little differently. Thanks for subscribing BTW, I'm just starting out and it helps a ton!
no problem.. glad I can be of some help.
Awesome, thanks for the feedback. What did you end up cutting for Leeroy Jenkins? I need to get around to trying that out, it feels like a good improvement.
Awesome deck ! I love to play Warlock and until recent I used a controllish style deck with mixed results. Against Kazakus priest I didn't stand a chance and against Jade Druids I had to play very smart and had Skulking Geist included.
But boy oh boy , with this deck I had a winning streak from 13-10 right now !
Awesome! I'm glad you're seeing good results. Thanks for the report, keep getting those wins! :)
My first reaction was "That's a pretty big step down", but, the more I think about it, the more I can see it work. Any time you have 2-3 creatures on the board, Frostwolf Warlord is actually pretty good. But when you don't have a board, a 5 mana 4/4 feels pretty bad. I'm actually interested in trying it out, though.
Did you make that replacement because you don't have Sea Giant, or because you felt it was better?
