Hey! This is my midrange rogue deck i used to hit legend, and then top 100 on EU!
Proof: http://i.imgur.com/Bs0jJGv.jpg
If there's enough interest, i am willing to write a guide on match ups and mulligan strategy's etc.
Mulligan Guide:
The mulligans for this deck are strange, because the coin plays such a big part in initiating combos, but they don't differ too much. I 95% of the time keep Harvest Golem or another 3 drop such as an SI Agent. SI7 also is extremely strong with a backstab already in hand.
Class Specific Mulligans: (Listed in order of Importance)
Hunter:
60/40 Matchup. Deal with their early threats whilst building a board that isn't weak to UTH, sap anything that is hound-mastered. Sapping the highmane is also a huge tempo play.
With Coin: SI7, Backstab, Fan Of Knives, Harvest Golem, Deadly Poison, Sap, Taz Dingo
Without Coin: Harvest Golem, Backstab, Fan of Knives, Deadly, Farseer, Sap, Taz Dingo
Warrior:
It is hard to out control the warrior, so being very aggressive is key here; a 50/50 matchup
With Coin: Harvest Golem, Deadly Poison, Eviscerate, Backstab, SI7, Taz Dingo
Without Coin: Harvest Golem, Deadly Poison, Backstab, Eviscerate, SI7, Taz Dingo
Priest:
Another 50/50 matchup, the 4 attack minions are key. Be wary of Cabal on Harvest Golems.
With Coin: Spectral Knight, SI7, Deadly,Sap, Eviscerate, Backstab, Harvest Golem
Without Coin: Spectral Knight, Deadly, Sap, Eviscerate, Backstab, Harvest Golem, SI7
Warlock
There is literally no handlock on ladder right now, and until the hunters go that won't change, making it easy to mulligan for zoo/midrange. Both match ups are favoured, especially if on the coin. 65/35.
With coin: SI7, Backstab, Harvest Golem, Deadly Poison, Blade Flurry*, Eviscerate, Sap, Fan of Knives
Without Coin: Backstab, SI7**, Harvest Golem, Deadly Poison, Blade Flurry*, Eviscerate, Sap, Fan of Knives
*Blade Flurry is only ever a keep if i have Deadly poison with it
**SI7 is a keep if i have backstab
Edit:
- Loatheb
- Spectral Knight
- 1 Shiv
- Assassins Blade
+ One ERF
+ 2 Sludge Belchers
+ 1 Loot hoarder
Warrior and Hunter are 70% of ladder, and these changes improve those matchups
I have about 1600 dust; I don't have Rag but I'm using Loatheb in his place. Do you think its more important for me to craft a Bloodmage and replace a Shiv/Loot Hoarder, a TBK to replace a Sap, or a Rag to replace Loatheb?
Pretty fun deck. THX
Great deck! I had to make an account to upvote for you. I tried this deck with Rag replaced by Kel and went 7-2. Btw, does this deck have any unfavorable matchup? So far my 2 losses were against druid but I haven't encounter any handlock yet.
thoughts on adding greenskin??
Only card I don't have is Rag, does black knight or something go well as a replacement (the best legendary I got so far)? Or maybe loatheb because theres already 2 Saps?
Kel'Thuzad is a good replacement for Rag. Works wonders when you can get it behind a Sludge Belcher or something. I also include Loatheb, replacing Gnomish. Ultimately up to you though.
thanks for sharing, this was perfect against zoo/hunters
changes I did:
- removed fan of knives x1
- no yolorag for me :c
- removed argent commander x1
added:
- thalnos
- perdition blade x1
- ooze
Fan of knives is a awesome draw against the annoying token spider, however unless I got thalnos or a drake together is a pretty much dead draw (3 mana to cycle), so its actually good to have one, I swapped it to the blade because against zoo you can coin+blade and kill his knife juggler and another minion in the same action, which is a typical starting play.
Thalnos is really helpful with all spells and the card draw, in the first instance I thought you had 2 loot hoarders, so I was replacing one, but it worked out well as usual.
Ooze is really required against hunters/warriors, it breaks their tempo completely (trying to reveals secrets on the bow first, then boom, sexy weapon breakage, the weapon goes 100% of time so its always used... Harrison Jones I'm sure makes a great job too (replacing the argent commander in this case, I don't have it though).
Can you explain the mulliganing? Does it mean that if you have any of those thing then you should keep it?
Yes
enjoy this deck! just spawed gnomish for spell breaker. thx for posting.
can i replace -2 taz'dingo with +2 Spectral knight?
Could Thalanos replace Loot Hoarder?
Ah sweet. I literally have everything, but Rag which I replaced with Loatheb. Might have to try a second shiv.
Liking the deck. Though I am thinking about swapping gnomish with a spellbreaker.
Its working really well. Definitely helps to be able to silence a mad scientist or a sludge when you need to push for damage.
I don't have Ragnaros, so I replaced him with Kel'Thuzad to great effect. Kel combo so well with Sludge Belcher that the enemy player can't attack anymore.
Thank you for sharing this awesome deck dude, it works great for me! I was searching for a decent rouge deck for quite some time ago, that doesn't require millions of dust and also fun to play, and this one fits my thoughts perfectly!
This deck is terrible, how am I supposed to kill someone with it? All I can do is wait around for someone to murder me with his miraculous Triple Leeroy
not sure what you're talking about, i've been doing pretty well with this deck (top 10 rank)
No Big Game Hunter?
