I don't take any credit for this deck!
Zetalot currently plays it on the EU server in top 16 Legend.
I wanted to share this deck with you guys to show you that priest is more than viable with Naxxramas!

I'm sure some people want to know more about this deck. Like basic mulligan strategy and how to play this deck.
Basically you want to mulligan for Undertaker, Zombie Chow, Loot Hoarder and Dark Cultist.
You want a strong turn 1 and turn 2 opener every game. This is deck is all about momentum and not a control deck.
This deck is, like zoo, a minion based control deck. Of course you have some great board clears Auchenai Soulpriest + Circle of Healing and Holy Nova but in generel you want to trade favorably with your minions.
The card that seems to give many people who play it the most problems is the Deathlord. Deathlord is NOT a turn 3 card unless you play against an aggro deck. If you play against a control deck you want to use him smart. Play him to protect lethal, your other minions or when you know your opponent has no removal.
Baron Rivendare can be used for some amazing combos in this deck:
- With Auchenai Soulpriest + 2x Zombie Chow + Circle of Healing for 20 damage
- With Dark Cultist for two times 3 Health on your minions
- With Sylvanas Windrunner to steal two minions from your opponent
- With Sludge Belcher to get two token taunts after he dies.
- Or, if you like a challenge, with Deathlord to give your opponent two minions on the board!
Replacements:
A lot of people ask for a replacement for Sylvanas Windrunner. While her effect is unique you can replace her raw stats with Loatheb. Of course Loatheb does have a total different effect but can help you in different situations than Sylvanas Windrunner.
If you need to replace Cairne Bloodhoof i would suggest Argent Commander for good trades or Boulderfist Ogre for a big body.
I'm running a tweaked version of this deck. I didn't have Cain, Sylvanas, or the Cabals. Sylvanas was replaced with Loatheb, Cain with Kel' Thuzad (He's amazing in this deck, drop him behind a sludge belcher and watch your opponent cry.), and the Cabals with unstable ghouls to help vs zoo. I also removed one of the blademasters in favor of a silence. It's probably not legend material, but I'm skyrocketing through rank 15
Thank you, I was looking for an alternative to cabals.
This deck is extremely solid in the current meta. I have a 85% win rate with this babe, and it made me come back to Hearthstone after the Huntards infestation began.
I'd say that TBK is more useful, because of Houndmaster and ramp druid. Heck, it's even perfect against another sunwalker.
I had a deck similar to this but it was lacking a certain something, so I revamped it with this deck as a blueprint and have been having a lot of success in ranked play as a result. In the past 2 days I have gone from rank 14 to rank 10 in ~20 match ups and there really isn't a deck I've encountered that provides a solid counter. Control warrior, zoolock, hunter, druid, they're all easily beatable unless you have a really crummy first couple of turns. And even if that's the case, an Auchunai + COH combo is in most cases an instant board clear that puts you in the lead. I made some slight alterations, removed 1 Cabal Shadow Priest and Cairne Bloodhoof for a Silence and a Sunwalker and it's working amazingly well. Silence especially has been an amazing asset due to its 0 mana cost and the prevalence of all these minions with special abilities--generally I play it on dangerous minions when I can see I'm losing tempo to the opponent, otherwise I save it for the end game when I feel like they're about to throw up a taunt that would otherwise cause the game to be delayed at least a turn. Two big thumbs up on this deck
Zetalot's latest changes to the deck includes Feugen and Stalagg in for the 2 Sludge Belchers.
guys i only have one cabal would holy fire be an ok replacement for cabal?
Holy Fire is too slow in this deck, you need 2 Cabals imo, until at least the Hunters die out in the meta.
How about:
Bloodmage Thalnos <--> Loot Horder
?
Normally I would say that replacing loot horder for Thalnos is a completely acceptable change in the majority of decks, however in this deck I would say that it would actually hurt this deck simply because the +1 spell damage that Thalnos has would only boost the single holy nova in the deck. Since the point of the loot hoarder is for card draw, undertaker boost, and early removal it is better than Thalnos in this case.
Baron Rivendare just did wonders for me. I was playing against a rather uncommon priest with Ancient Watchers and Ravenholdt Assassins. I had Sylvanas Windruner on the board, and he had a silenced Watcher and Assassin. Then I topdecked Baron, SW:Death'd my Sylvanas, stealing both his minions, putting him in immediate lethal range. I once thought Baron Rivendare to be sort of a "win-more" card, but no, he can be a true game-changer.
This deck is full of Deathrattles, all of which are great(including Zombie Chow, if you have Auchenai Soulpriest). Even something as simple as getting 2 draws off Loot Hoarder death is an amazing value. Sludge Belcher double Slime can save your butt against decks like Zoo. The sheer amount of utility is just amazing.
I cut 1 Cabal Shadow Priest, both Injured Blademasters for Loatheb, one more Shadow Word: Death and a Spellbreaker. Working pretty well. I am also considering putting in one Holy Fire instead of another SW: Death.
BUT it looks like this deck stands little to no chance against Druid or Control Warrior. Haven't won a single game against them. How are others doing against them?
I found that most classes are easy to win against with this priest deck except zoo decks. They give me the most trouble and on hearthstone tracker most of my losses are coming from zoo. I think there needs to be some re-working to deal with this. Deathlord is great but I do not want one card for just one class. It sucks with the other classes. I am almost tempted to start using unstable ghoul. With a cleric and circle of healing plus that and some minions. You can get amazing card draw. I will be trying this out. In the meantime, whoever tweaks this deck really needs to address the zoo issue or give better explanation on how to deal with this. Sometimes you don't get your AoE when you need it. There needs to be a Plan C. I did fine 0 mana silence to be useful. I even tried with ancient watchers instead of loot hoarders and a silence. One they are great taunts and two a cheap silence can awake a nice 4 unexpected damage. I need more thoughts on this from the community.
This deck is similar to yours. It is the Power of the Rattle and the Rise of the Dead. Good job applying this idea to a priest deck. Mine is way more expensive though. Not to pull away from your deck, just showing a comparison in decks. I assumed this idea was already done and here it is :) I really appreciate this deck from the creator as you have really given more to old players who are a bit burnt out. I think another expansion needs to already happen HAHA...They also need to do seasonal expansions for the holidays and more board flavor!!!
no way!!! if you know how to play zombie chow...it is amazing :) Honestly, with this deck you can take them having all the healing. It is that good of a deck. If they don't holy crap they take unexpected damage that they don't see coming. Just take out one Cabal priest and put in a silence. It is great early against certain classes and late against big mobs or unique ones. Just use your silence wisely. That is all that is needed. I was using a power rattle druid and it is a fun deck but I love this one too!!! It is helping me rank fast not just rank up but fast. The reason why this deck is so good is it is sooooo easy to mulligan and it is under 5k dust which is cheap now. You do the same mulligan for almost all classes.
I thought I hated playing priest... until I played this deck. Basically opened up a whole new class for me. Really fun and powerful!
The deck needs more silence. There are so many cards now that demand more silence.
This deck is so fun. Into my 3rd game with it and i'v gotten a rivendare soulpriest zombie chow circle of kiling combo 2x.
I need to learn to play the deck better as im misplaying all day plus I need to get Sylvanas and a second cabal shadow priest :(
Question about substitutions for Sylvanas...
1. Black Knight vs Loatheb vs Rag
Do you think they are all equal and require analyzing the meta or do you think one of the 3 stands out above the rest?
Rag is a bit slow but rag being rag [win condition w/o removal] makes me consider trying him out.
Let me know your opinion.
His Most Recent Change: -2 Sludge Belchers, +1 Feugen +1 Stalagg
How could that work? The belchers are an important part of this deck as they provide a much needed taunt.
this deck suffers so much from zoo it's incredible
I haven't lost a single game to zoo from when i started playing this deck.. And i've played a few.. Try to mulligan for Injured Blademaster, Zombie Chow, Loot Hoarder and Undertaker. This deck has plenty of responses to zoo. Dark Cultist is a good card to trade also.
